"But even them, I think even them, they won't know all of the members" David u have no idea. We mostly know about all the top 35 contestants, 11 is a piece of cake 😂😂
Definitely. MNet basically selected a few trainees to debut no matter what. Their spots were guaranteed by the way P101 was edited, regardless of how well their missions went. Daehwi, Jihoon, Seungwoo were going to debut no matter what. I'm not devaluing their efforts or talent, because all three of them deserved to debut and they all worked very very hard, but it was obvious from the very first episode that these three trainees were going to be in the final line up. From the moment Jihoon's wink was included at the end, to the "impromptu" show of dancing talent from Seungwoo, those three had guaranteed spots. Daehwi was my first bias of the show and Seungwoo is my bias wrecker now, so I'm not hating or anything. I'm just saying that MNet knew which trainees would attract the most attention and bring in the most money
The rapper you liked was Kang Daniel. He's the center and face of Wanna One. Also my bias 😊 Y'all should watch their 2nd m/v 'Burn It Up.' I like that song wayyyyy better.
I feel like *YG* started this trainee survival program trend. They had "WIN: Who Is Next", and debuted Winner. Then with a second show "Mix & Match", they debuted IKON. Then *DSP* jumped on to the band wagon and had their trainees compete to be the new member of KARA. Then *Starship* had a show called "No Mercy," successfully creating Monsta X. *JYP* then had the show "Sixteen", and created Twice. I think TV Stations saw potential in these type of shows so they eventually created their own shit.
venus as a boy actually it depends on your definition of survival show. Because to me survival shows are having a bunch of trainees/ contestants that compete to get spot in the upcoming idol group. However big bang was already formed before the show even aired. To me it was a behind the scene or documentary on how Big Bang was formed. But if you still think Big Bang counts then Shinwa also has a reality show before but it also wasn't a survival show to me even though there was battle and stuffs. And also Vixx had a survival show as well but it's after 2pm.
You're right about thr unhealthy thing. Debuting an idol group is expensive and not always a safe investment but if tou train enough people to succeed on these programs it would be more brand exposure for your company. I can see a lot of smaller companies falling into this. The fact an established group like nuest had members on the show and it revived the group's stagnating popularity it telling. It's scary how powerful these shows can be.
I LOVE your honest opinions srsly you guys are one of the rare yt rectors now adays that says exactly whats on their mind without trying to give the fans what they want to hear and I agree with every thing you guys said all the love from kuwait
As a Wannable, i thought this video is longer because you guys pointing at Wanna One that they will disbanded and it's useless to make group like this bla bla bla and I was going to be angry. But. But :D Even though I'm a big fan of Produce 101, i know what you mean. Companies already started to use these survival shows to gain attention. Even some of 'model agencies' send their models? This was so useless. I liked one of the contestant who is a model, Kwon Hyunbin (YK+), I'm a fan of his but I still don't approve that he was in there. This show should've been about 'giving a chance' but actually the TV Channel getting that chance by using all those trainees and labels, small companies to get more viewers. And it's working sadly. I do not regret that I watched all those pain from trainees and being with them with love all the time while P101 airing. But after it finished, I decided not to watch any survival again which uses too many labels. It's hurting I can say, as a fan. Plus, the fandoms which are existing for a long time, do not like this situtation too. They are becoming so harsh cause they think these programs affecting other groups fame. I mean, so many groups gain fame in a long time by giving a hardwork, and even though P101 contestants working really hard, some people who don't watch the show thinks that they are famous by a chance. Well I know it's not like that, I know the trainees really thinks 'this is their last chance' but not for some outsiders. Shortly, survival shows really unhealthy for kpop in every way. I hope it will not hurt anyone anymore and they will all be gone soon :) ^^
Really wanna pointed out that you guys are having the most honest opinion about these MVs and i really respect and agree to most of your comments! Thank you so much and i learnt a lot from your ranting too! Keep it up!
I agree with Danny ~ there is so I much to say, but it's so hard to type it all out OMGGG ~~ But I can understand where yall coming from. Wanna one is just CUTEEE and i love this song so much.
i agree with everything you guys said, i just read an article about how a lot of the smaller Entertainment Agencies are now unhappy with TV Stations To Producing Audition Programs because they are taking over management of their artists once the show is over, so basically while they are promoting as Wanna One they are forbidden from promote with their individual teams or for their original agency. Also i think they styled them to all look alike so that no one person stands out, cause they look vastly different to how they looked on the show, they had more individual style on the show
You guys brought up great points and it's true music starts to loose it's sincerity with shows like produce 101 it starts to become more about becoming famous than the music
THE THING IS.. With the boom of Kpop not only popular in Asia, but Internationally. More people in Korea wants to be an idol, and even now you got imported members from China, Taiwan, Japan, and even Thailand. The thing is, KPOP groups are OVER SUPPLY, making new groups from small company/agency would not be able to promote their group equally with others, and it is hard to get the spotlight, even though they might have the most talented member in the group. What the competition/survival show like Produce 101 did is to give these unfortunate trainees or ex-idol the chance to get into the spotlight. Altho there are still a lot of politics going on, for example the screen time that eventually affected the popularity. But at least, they got the spotlight, and people know their name and faces. People are actually going crazy and fall in love with them, because we got to see how they struggle, how their training life feels like, and we can relate to them. So it is actually a win-win for small company, if you saw and following them, most of the top 35 in produce 101 now able to promote themselve in their own gorup or going solo, because they got famous through the program. and for side note, the big companies reluctant to join such program, altho the unit basically was initiated by YG. I think it is a win-win solution for small company to steal the spotlight and promote their trainees, and also for the tv station to get a controversial and viewers. Altho I understand MNET would benefited the most, as they are already giant in the entertainment industry, having so many agencies under their wings, and yeah.. so on..
To be the devils advocate... these shows help the fans get closer to the people they supported, and i think this gives the debut groups instant star power when they do debut as opposed to some small-medium sized company debuting a group and failing instantly because of 10k views over 1 month... then disbanding.
It would be interesting if you see the other songs of Produce 101 like Open Up, Show Time, Never, I Know You Know & Oh Little Girl. I'm so interested in your opinion, after see this video. As always, I'm in love with you guys and your videos; see you in the next video!!!
lmao you guys sound just like westerns when they get introduced to kpop "they all look the same" lol plz guys, from the get go i never once thought the looked similar (and i'm western) and they had 101 (duh) trainees on the show. it really is almost impossible to remember all their names, but i probably have 95% of them down lol but their faces? nah, they're too different to mix them up. nice reaction, tho!
but when you get to know them better you'll realise that only the eyes look similar + hairstyle but clearly their face looks different. EDIT: you're like me when i first watch bts, they all look the same seriously, at that time.. but when i got to know them better, its easier to know their names and what they're like
I have joined your channel because you are telling the truth You are wonderful, I am really fond of those programs that are useless Sorry for the language
Agree!! These kind of survival program just make an instant popularity and then their gone like nothing's happened. An example is Jang Moon Bok, he's so well known before but then he's nobody now, he even cant survived in pd101. This group will disband in next year too so it will hurt so many fans. And i see wanna one and ioi already have a big impact in this industry now makes me realize how powerful these programs are.
OMG now that you mentioned it, I'm just now seeing how powerful the effect of these TV programs are. It's kinda terrifying and it made me feel bad for all the lesser known labels & indie artists...
These audition shows are usually only good for the first and second season then become redundant and after a few years even the winners don't do so well in their industries. Eventually even the first year winners who are the most successful, if their management doesn't keep up the momentum, their successfully fades. The TV companies definitely benefit the most. Especially since its all temporary for them. The costs I mean. Kpop is already set up where these kids are the last to see any benefit. The audition shows are just making it worse.
Omg..that's why i love this boys..u don't make just a normal reaction like just watching and appreciating u really say the right thing in all of your videos..damn..this boys have some talent..for real keep doing that..as always you're my best reactors..♡♡♥♥
I'm not sure why my comment was deleted but I commented about Big Bang's was a documentary or behind the scene story since the show was aired after the group was already formed. Shinwa also had a reality show before Big Bang which also had battle and mission stuffs. However I don't consider those shows as survival shows. That's why I put 2pm and 2am. They were all trainees and contestants fighting for a spot to debut while the show is airing.
Both of you explained it so well especially with smtm as an example hopefully these shows will die out soon I think ppl will get tired of them anyway after some point
I really like your videos, specially this one when you give your opinion about the Kpop reality shows, and how they probably will hurt the music industry.
Thats why Im so glad KARD exists, they are one of the rare new kpop groups that didnt debut from a survival show and all the members are 100% new (apart from somin kinda) to the stage and it reminds of the old kpop generation, like snsd, kara and even bts
Hayate -chan Lol? almost all of the groups in kpop didn't start in a survival show...also don't have stage experience.... I can give you a long list of groups who don't start at a survival show...
Yeah but Coed School was terrible though, and ended up being a complete failure. KARD's success doesn't just rely on them just being a coed group, but from how they sound (whether you like it or not), their concept, and how they are marketed.
It is veeeery easy to distinguish who is who in this group. sincerely. They are VERY different. They were the easiest ones for me after bts (which is very easy right¿).
It's not because you're dudes, I'm female and I can't really tell either. I'm sure if you watched the show and followed them etc. you'll be able to spot the different but..yea...off the bat. You are not alone!
I agree when you say they don't look very different from each other. I'm same, but I reckon once you get more familiar you'll start to see some differences.
I love that they speak like western people "you cant recognize them, they all look the same". ahahah I saw the entire produce 101, so I can differentiate them without a problem. I didnt like their songs at first, though. But their personalities are great (and after listening to it everywhere, I'm starting to like it as well)
I love them especially Kang Daniel.. They have so much potential.. I expect something more 😔 and personally It's not kind of music that I'd like to listen everyday.. The song is not bad but not that good either. *please don't hate me
yes dkdk tv is back, i almost losing dkdk tv feels, when Danny and David reaction just enjoy the music and MV but not talking to much bout their opinions after watched
You guys should react to Produce 101 season 2 Live Performances! About all of them have million plus views! I'm actually happy that Nu est(underrated boy group) from Pledis, since they joined PD101s2 they finally gained some popularity and attention due to the show.
Oh yeah, i have my problems with show me the money too :/ and with survival shows in general! For pretty much the same reasons you mentioned... and especially, the drama that arises from them. At fault are mostly those edited scenes, that show a false reality.. like people having conflicts and such ;_; i don't really want to point at anyone in particular (*cough* mnet *cough*^^) ....Well, anyways! :D thank you for discussing this issue! Enjoyed to listen to your honest thoughts :3
Oh yeah! You did a reaction! You should react to Burn it up too!!! Followed them since day one (before the show even started and same with the Produce 101 season 1) They about to snatch everyone's wig hahaha I, as part of the fandom, am completely scared of how fans in Korea act.... don't know if any other wannable is feeling the same, but I'll personally stay a quiet fan, not time for that sasaeng level BS!
As always, it's interesting to hear what you have to say about things like this. I personally agree that shows like this aren't good for music itself since it's based off pure fame and nothing else. There are people who want to genuinely make good music and shows/groups like this are just making kpop more and more factory-produced. Also with SMTM...that show is an actual joke...at the start it was about showcasing korean hip-hop talent, but you're right, now it's only become about being on the show than the music itself. It's become THE ONLY WAY to prove your credibility as a rapper which is so stupid. Imagine thinking that winning competition is the only way to prove you're talented, especially with the fundamentals of hip-hop being raw emotion, it's sad more than anything. I'm glad that none of the BTS rappers bothered with it, even when pressured to. They know it's a gimmick, that's why they've continued to prove their true talent through the quality of their music and success.
this is free promotion for theese young boys and girls! and free investment from production houses! songs from these shows are usualy very good..... so there is a good point. Have you ever talk about jyj law? have you ever talked about dbsk split! and what has happened with bands from there on? have you ever talked about slave contract specially from sm ent? if you answer these , we may talk seriously about your concerns in regard of wanna one. i think they are masterpiece. they have no bad member or bad side to point to!
Everything you said about the survival/audition programs is true. Even though i still watch them, i tend to appreciate groups these days that don't debut through a survival program. I just feel like its become the easy way out to debut groups now. But this shouldn't been seen as just a Korean trend now survival programs have become almost a factory like outlet these days just constantly churning out artists overseas as well. I know kpop already has that commercialised system enacted as well, but the constant production of survival programs to churn out groups these days in an already heavily saturated market, is something i would like to see less off.
Não sei se sou o único que pensa isso mas essa música parece material que poderia ser lançado pelo TVXQ ou SHINee? Sério, parece muito o estilo dos dois grupos.
Produce 101 is just to form a random idol group. After they disband, a large number of groups will come out but hard to get famous enough as when they were on the show.
"But even them, I think even them, they won't know all of the members" David u have no idea. We mostly know about all the top 35 contestants, 11 is a piece of cake 😂😂
Regina Maria wordddd LOL
i knew most than half the participants lmao 11 is nothing
IKR we can even tell who is who just from a body part XD
Same 😂 i know all top 35 names 😂
Regina Maria i think i can name 60 of them. haha i watch pd101s2 twice before the finale
"It's so weird to have 20 men look at me" They're trying to seduce you Danny
Definitely. MNet basically selected a few trainees to debut no matter what. Their spots were guaranteed by the way P101 was edited, regardless of how well their missions went. Daehwi, Jihoon, Seungwoo were going to debut no matter what. Daehwi was my first bias of the show and Seungwoo is my bias wrecker now, so I'm not hating or anything. I'm just saying that MNet knew which trainees would attract the most attention and bring in the most money
I agree, it was pretty obvious
There are more groups that have many members; Seventeen, NCT
Just Jihoon I felt like you were gonna have a list but it was only two 😂😂
Mak D 14U as well
Seventeen, NCT, 14U, Up10tion, The boyz.... I think Topp Dogg is down to 9 now? I'm not really sure honestly I'm not TK.
yeah I want to list them but suddenly my mind went blank and I only remember those 2 groups 😂😂😂😂
Us Winks have to stink together right? No sweat. :3
Dkdktv is saying the truth! I’m agree with you guys it’s very unhealthy indeed. I need more of your rant Danny please make a whole video of it 🙃
True that would be a good video to make, especially since they are media students, so they have a good perspective on the situation
The rapper you liked was Kang Daniel. He's the center and face of Wanna One. Also my bias 😊
Y'all should watch their 2nd m/v 'Burn It Up.' I like that song wayyyyy better.
tru... used up all the budget on Energetic MV xD
callmykoe It's clear that they choose Energetic to be main song from the beginning. It's actually sad that they pretend that they let fans choose...
"It feels like H&M" LOOOOL
I feel like *YG* started this trainee survival program trend. They had "WIN: Who Is Next", and debuted Winner. Then with a second show "Mix & Match", they debuted IKON. Then *DSP* jumped on to the band wagon and had their trainees compete to be the new member of KARA. Kpop Lover 4Ever JYPE's first survival was not sixteen. It was hot blood which 2am and 2pm was formed.
HamHam 哈姆 also bigbang was formed in a reality show too
venus as a boy actually it depends on your definition of survival show. Because to me survival shows are having a bunch of trainees/ contestants that compete to get spot in the upcoming idol group. Nobody remembers VIXX and Momoland were created by survival shows ;_;
Kpop Lover 4Ever aye vixx?

I LOVE your honest opinions srsly you guys are one of the rare yt rectors now adays that says exactly whats on their mind without trying to give the fans what they want to hear and I agree with every thing you guys said
all the love from kuwait

I agree with Danny ~ there is so I much to say, but it's so hard to type it all out OMGGG ~~
But I can understand where yall coming from.
Wanna one is just CUTEEE and i love this song so much.
The guy you liked is kang daniel who placed first in pd101, there's 11 members
i agree with everything you guys said, i just read an article about how a lot of the smaller Entertainment Agencies are now unhappy with TV Stations To Producing Audition Programs because they are taking over management of their artists once the show is over, so basically while they are promoting as Wanna One they are forbidden from promote with their individual teams or for their original agency. lowkey enjoyed the discussion after the reaction more than anything else hahaha great rant
You guys brought up great points and it's true music starts to loose it's sincerity with shows like produce 101 it starts to become more about becoming famous than the music
This MV really amazing, I can't heard anything what Danny & David talk about because I focus my mind & soul to the song.
Totally agree!

I'm EARLY!!!!! ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED!!!! (Btw I loved the reactions)
Thanks for the insight about these music audition programs and the music industry. Fascinating!
okay but I memorised like 75 members out of 101 of them :'D
and like shows like these are what brings attention to trainees from small companies
To be the devils advocate... these shows help the fans get closer to the people they supported, and i think this gives the debut groups instant star power when they do debut as opposed to some small-medium sized company debuting a group and failing instantly because of 10k views over 1 month... then disbanding.

I super agree with the "H&M vibes" thrown over there..That cracked me up LOL
Wow insightful comments! Never thought about that before.
If you can learn all of twice's names you can learn theirs. It's only two more members compared
ZGE Thank you. Honestly, I think they're disinterested and won't even bother because it's a boy group.
lmao you guys sound just like westerns when they get introduced to kpop "they all look the same" lol plz guys, from the get go i never once thought the looked similar (and i'm western) and they had 101 (duh) trainees on the show. it really is almost impossible to remember all their names, but i probably have 95% of them down lol but their faces? nah, they're too different to mix them up. nice reaction, tho!

I have joined your channel because you are telling the truth

This group will disband in next year too so it will hurt so many fans.
And i see wanna one and ioi already have a big impact in this industry now makes me realize how powerful these programs are.
I like wannaone's sound but like I'm not even gonna bother cause I'd rather not be disappointed in a year like I was with ioi
Like I'll listen but I'm not gonna get in too deep with them
The ideas about those super hot audition programs are really good and we really should be cautious
I've read an article about this kind of audition program affecting music industry but I dont understand LOL now you explained it and I got it....haha
Always good reaction and good videos :3 Thanks
I totally agree with what your saying about commercializing art (music)
Your feedback is very honest and totally agree with you
OMG now that you mentioned it, I'm just now seeing how powerful the effect of these TV programs are. It's kinda terrifying and it made me feel bad for all the lesser known labels & indie artists...

YG started the audition show shit
Suga needs some kookie 2am and 2pm came out from survival as well
Suga needs some kookie yea..with bigbang

I really like the reaction video from dkdktv because your reaction video is very honest, I like you guys ❤😂🔫

Hayate -chan but bts isn't old? Lol
Alice by "even bts" I think they mean that the first condition doesn't apply to them either, like kard
card sounds so bad after oh nana though. how can you say that. just cause they are coed? go listen to coed school
Yeah but Coed School was terrible though, and ended up being a complete failure. KARD's success doesn't just rely on them just being a coed group, but from how they sound (whether you like it or not), their concept, and how they are marketed.

after watching p101, it's REALLY easy to know who's who when there's only 11 of them lmao
i really appreciate your insight about this topic
Danny listening to Energetic like: I wanna shop some clotheeeesssssss xDDD
It is veeeery easy to distinguish who is who in this group. sincerely. They are VERY different. They were the easiest ones for me after bts (which is very easy right¿).
after seventeen and pentagon i don't think any group hard
When youtuber do a reaction video but didn't really understand anything. Love u both 😘
I love how Danny thinks things through and critics stuff.
Have they reacted to Svt yet?
Im watching it now and after watching it i nevee really thought about the shows like that
11 members are a piece of cake 😂💕 i know for like 60 contestants in pd101
It's not because you're dudes, I'm female and I can't really tell either. I'm sure if you watched the show and followed them etc. you'll be able to spot the different but..yea...off the bat. You are not alone!

Just an idea after watching you guys rant. Maybe doing a street interview asking the public's opinions on these "survival" shows?
i cant relate to david when he said he wont know which one is which cuz i literaly put a face to ther names in 5 mins😂😂😂
I totally agree with them....
please do Wanna One "Beautiful"…
i see wanna one, i click
i see dkdktv, i click
i see both, i definitely click, like, and share
I love that they speak like western people "you cant recognize them, they all look the same". ahahah I saw the entire produce 101, so I can differentiate them without a problem. I didnt like their songs at first, though. But their personalities are great (and after listening to it everywhere, I'm starting to like it as well)
you guys should check out 'the rose - sorry' it's soo good!
also thanks for this reaction❤️
DAMN IM SO EARLY
When you spend your life on youtube
im waiting for this reaction
I love them especially Kang Daniel.. They have so much potential.. I expect something more 😔 and personally It's not kind of music that I'd like to listen everyday.. The song is not bad but not that good either. *please don't hate me
yes dkdk tv is back, i almost losing dkdk tv feels, when Danny and David reaction just enjoy the music and MV but not talking to much bout their opinions after watched
Danny: *bangs head* I wanna buy clothes!
AHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
You guys should react to Produce 101 season 2 Live Performances! About all of them have million plus views!
I'm actually happy that Nu est(underrated boy group) from Pledis, since they joined PD101s2 they finally gained some popularity and attention due to the show.
i agree with david itll take time to learn their names/ tell these guys apart.
Oh yeah, i have my problems with show me the money too :/ and with survival shows in general! For pretty much the same reasons you mentioned... and especially, the drama that arises from them. At fault are mostly those edited scenes, that show a false reality.. like people having conflicts and such ;_; i don't really want to point at anyone in particular (*cough* mnet *cough*^^)
....Well, anyways! :D thank you for discussing this issue! Enjoyed to listen to your honest thoughts :3
I totally agree with you guys
“They all look the same” be careful what you say... there are some crazy fans out there👀
hahahahaha you two dont have any, any rytham in you!!!!!!hahahaha
Miss them so much
Hui of Pentagon made this! I absolutely love this song!
Oh yeah! You did a reaction! You should react to Burn it up too!!! Followed them since day one (before the show even started and same with the Produce 101 season 1) They about to snatch everyone's wig hahaha
I, as part of the fandom, am completely scared of how fans in Korea act.... don't know if any other wannable is feeling the same, but I'll personally stay a quiet fan, not time for that sasaeng level BS!
David has 'good taste', as he likes the #1 guy from the produce 101, Kang Daniel
the truth has been spoken
totallyy agree
at one glance they do look alike but hey i followed them since 101 ppl lmao
Finally !!!!!!!!! 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
They know it's a gimmick, that's why they've continued to prove their true talent through the quality of their music and success.
that moment when you realize that you know almost all of the 101 contestants in both seasons of Produce 101 oops
i am agree with your analysis a lot!!
but actually to whom has seen produce101 can easily know who they are. haha
this is free promotion for theese young boys and girls! and free investment from production houses! songs from these shows are usualy very good..... so there is a good point.
"Like I'm shopping at H&M" ctfuu
I think if you survive in this industry (recent entry) then you a boss at your craft.
Love wanna one ☝️
❤️❤️❤️❤️💕💕
Wanna One is such a good grope over all I just hope the best for them.
Damn, that's some eye-opener right there. Kinda feel bad for those artists mentioned who were affected by all these shows.
Well said on the survival show issue!
