I have had this tablet over 2 years and still runs like the day I first got it. might feel cheap, but it will last a long time. I say that cause I have dropped my tablet a few times in a cheap case from Target, and it held together well. But this tablet is being left in the dust because of the older android OS, also lacking Bluetooth, so I got my use out of it, and its time to upgrade :) (Update) I have had the Viking Pro for over a week now, and it runs well. RCA has made improvements on the Tablet since this review, like with the track pad there are buttons now, and it doesn't feel cheap at all like most RCA tablets

Thanks for the great review/video! This is attempt number 2 for me in the tablet world! I bought the Kocaso 16 GB Windows 8.1...upgraded to Windows 10 and the touchpad quit working! There was a ton of other stuff wrong with it before that though. So I returned it and decided to give RCA a try! I also paid 79 bucks plus tax for it online from Wal-Mart! The main reason I picked this one was the 32 gb memory and mini HDMI connection. Oh the 128 gb micro sd card...I didn't know I could go that high...so that was a nice Bonus to hear about from your video!!! Super excited now! :-)
Looking forward to your full review. Just bought this device 2 days ago and have been trying to force it into submission (in other words, make it fail before the Walmart 14-day return window closes). I have to admit it's been very resilient so far. The casing (cheap plastic), cameras (terrible everywhere but in sunlight, where it's adequate and tolerable) and the speaker ("tinny" sounding; CRACKLES... read below) are the areas where they cut the corners, but these aren't deal-breakers for people who care about basic functionality. I've installed over 100 apps (mostly games of varying demands) and have played well into the first levels of most. This thing has stood up to all of them. And I will agree that the picture quality is pretty damn good at this price point. Regarding the CRACKLING AUDIO... within the Sound and Notification settings, there is an Audio Enhancement (Boost) setting (specific to this device) which I think is checked off by default. Unchecking this stopped the crackle. I will also recommend that everyone read that manual. A clue I may have found as to what can go wrong based on a few common complaints I've read in other reviews... DO NOT wait until the battery dies off completely before recharging. Charge with normal use. If it dies off completely, they recommend leaving it plugged in extra long to regain its charge. I'll take their word for it for now, but might have to test out a full drain scenario on day 12 to see if it can be revived. Anyways, if this device keeps it up I'm nominating it for best budget tablet of the year. Hope yours has held up so far.
I should also add 2 other things... just charged from 30% to 100% in exactly 2 hours. That's pretty good. The 6 hour usage window they've stated also seems accurate. And can someone comment on how easily a child could reset this tablet with that huge, invitingly-indented reset button they've placed on the back? Is it designed this way because RCA knows it will be routinely used, or just as a precaution, hopefully, due to their success with some tablets in the past?

The battery life is also something I got a better feel of and the reset button is pretty big compared to previous years, but I assume that it won't be likely that you'll end up pressing because the button is more flushed in, but then again a kid could end up pressing it. And the reset button just restarts the tablet.

These are going for $80 now on Amazon. I decided to pull the trigger on it. Looks pretty solid for the price, I just need something simple and portable to travel with that'll let me write in Word/Google Docs and occasionally surf the internet. This should work. If I get a couple years of use out of it I'll be happy.
Yeah i dropped it then the keyboard snapped onto it. Crack. If you crack it to where touch doesn't work the date and time might mess up. And if you download too many apks, it will soon stop you from downloading them

Got it at $190 (tx included) at Walmart Ontario, Canada. It's my second table and I've been impressed by the speed of it. I didn,t need a super hi-tech tablet only one to do my things when I'm on trip... Really satisfied. Speaker not really strong but my purpose was to work with it, paying my bills, bank accompt and RUclips, Facebook. Easy to get an external speaker for cheap anyway

My personal input for the UPDATE of the RCA viking pro on November 23rd 2016 it has been updated very much from the buttons to the pading to the hardware Android Version: Marshmellow 6.0 Processor: 1.4ghz (clock/speed of the device) quad-core processor 32GB of Storage Front camera: 0.3mp Rear camera: 2.0mp 1280 X 800 screen resolution 10.1 inch screen the volume buttons are now easier to push with a slight difference to the look. the rubber bumpers are now slimmer. what he did not notice in the video is that there is a button on the keyboard to turn the screen off, but to turn it back on you will have to press the lock/power button. A lot of androids have lag although this one only lags during a game/video if you get a NOTIFICATION/and or using messenger bubble from facebook other than that it can easily handle high performance games such as Real racing 3, modern strike, modern combat 5, gangstar vegas, and i dont know about MKX (Mortal Kombat X) but that would be the ultimate test. the resolution for youtube seems to only go upto 720p but it can handle 720p with 60fps.

Mine came from Walmart too for about 80 bucks. It's pretty handy for an old man and my only question is how to get the Home and End keys to work...not a big deal but I just hate anything that doesn't work (like I think it should) or a simple set of instructions to make it work. The Fn key on a netbook/laptop is something I know but this thing is different or I'm especially drunk or dense.

I've had a problem with the "soft home keys" on the bottom of the viking pro's display not droping out of sight when a vudu movie is in play. the camera woks fine for me and the delete butten delete the right amount letters i want of and the key bord is fine to so all those things that you have a problem with is because it's probably your hands they are a bit big that's why you are kinda having problems.
I got this on black friday 2015 and it is april 2016 and the battery needs to be replaced already. The battery went from holding a charge for about 5 hours down to about 45 minutes now. Rca is the first product that i ever bought that I have had trouble with this soon.Don't think i will ever buy another rca product again.Also i hate the speaker on this thing.
I'm buying one for school, its seems really good and decent for how cheap it is with a lot of space so I'm very impressed. but im curious if it will be able to handle all of the Microsoft office programs, because I do use all of them. It's definetly not tip top of the line but for its price point very impressed and shocked as to well it works

Yeah I tweeted to RCA tablets and they said that my device (Maven Pro 11.6) was not compatible with the app...pretty whack. Definitely getting returned.

Hi Miriam, my tablet is wonderful and it's on locked mode and asking for a pin which I never did. I did everything to reset to factory mode, but still no help it going back the screen and asking for pin! help

Hi! I think the maven pro is also a good option, but just know that it's going to look a bit more pixelated with the larger screen and lower resolution from the viking pro. These laptops are good to do basic things if you're okay with occasional stutters. hope that helps!

Just bought this two days ago from walmart online. worked great foe first day but on the second day the sound/speakers stopped working. Headphones still work though. Did a factory reset and that did not fix it. Was really liking this tablet until this happened. Anyone else had the happen?

I'm thinking of buying this for strictly reading comics, would you recommend this for something like that? I know the ppi isn't great, so I worry that the pictures won't be as crisp as I want it to be. But for 100 bux, I guess you have to cut costs somewhere. I was thinking of getting a Samsung galaxy tab (10" at least) but it sells for around 3 times as much, and since all I'm doing is reading comics, I figure I can go a little cheaper. if $100 is your budget and you're solely going for a higher resolution(which sounds like it would suit your reading), then I'd say this Onda V80 Tablet is your best best because it has a 1920 x 1200 resolution on an 8" device - goo.gl/RbPHC3
I ended up picking this one bit.ly/2lM3Lbf. I liked the Onda, but 8" felt a little small to me (my fiancee has an 8" Samsung tab) and I wanted to get a tablet where I wouldn't have to zoom in often. I finally chose the Pipo, since a lot of people had good things to say about it.

Well I've never used a Chromebook, but it depends if you're mostly going to use it for himework then yeah it's good, but I would personally take this lver the Chromebook because I'm not limited to things.
rca is waaaay better. The other one i have right now. it is complete trash. some tablets you just shouldnt waste your money on man. get a good name brand, thsoe brands like sungale and fisher digital are trash and stop working after like 10 days of heavy use.( heavy as in how often you use your phone)
I've owned the Cambio and the Viking Pro.....I've found the Cambio reacts far faster than this Viking Pro, google, emails, and the consistent notification to use this app or not after resetting this unit is irritating. And the Viking Pro needs the Flash Player to be updated the Cambio is updated by Windows 10 doesn't

Hi Miriam, my tablet is wonderful and it's on locked mode and asking for a pin which I never did. I did everything to reset to factory mode, but still no help it going back the screen and asking for pin! help

Hi! I think the maven pro is also a good option, but just know that it's going to look a bit more pixelated with the larger screen and lower resolution from the viking pro. These laptops are good to do basic things if you're okay with occasional stutters. hope that helps!

Right out of the box and cannot authenticate my wi-fi network! After searching around, I find that this is a common problem with this RCA 10 Viking Pro. What's going on???? Can you help?
Just bought this two days ago from walmart online. worked great foe first day but on the second day the sound/speakers stopped working. Headphones still work though. Did a factory reset and that did not fix it. Was really liking this tablet until this happened. Anyone else had the happen?

I'm thinking of buying this for strictly reading comics, would you recommend this for something like that? I know the ppi isn't great, so I worry that the pictures won't be as crisp as I want it to be. But for 100 bux, I guess you have to cut costs somewhere. I was thinking of getting a Samsung galaxy tab (10" at least) but it sells for around 3 times as much, and since all I'm doing is reading comics, I figure I can go a little cheaper. So basically this will be like my kindle paperwhite, but for comics.
if $100 is your budget and you're solely going for a higher resolution(which sounds like it would suit your reading), then I'd say this Onda V80 Tablet is your best best because it has a 1920 x 1200 resolution on an 8" device - goo.gl/RbPHC3

I ended up picking this one bit.ly/2lM3Lbf. I liked the Onda, but 8" felt a little small to me (my fiancee has an 8" Samsung tab) and I wanted to get a tablet where I wouldn't have to zoom in often. I finally chose the Pipo, since a lot of people had good things to say about it.

Well I've never used a Chromebook, but it depends if you're mostly going to use it for himework then yeah it's good, but I would personally take this lver the Chromebook because I'm not limited to things.

rca is waaaay better. The other one i have right now. it is complete trash. some tablets you just shouldnt waste your money on man. get a good name brand, thsoe brands like sungale and fisher digital are trash and stop working after like 10 days of heavy use.( heavy as in how often you use your phone)

I've owned the Cambio and the Viking Pro.....I've found the Cambio reacts far faster than this Viking Pro, google, emails, and the consistent notification to use this app or not after resetting this unit is irritating.
And the Viking Pro needs the Flash Player to be updated the Cambio is updated by Windows 10 doesn't

No clue, you'd have to contact RCA's support for that. You should have a 1 year warranty that might cover it.

Ugh, mines just fucked up and I got it a day ago, I let it charge for a while. then when I go turn it on, it stays gray, like the screen is on, but it shows nothing. it's all gray, like wtf. I spent money on this shit for nothing.
