Not me crying my eyes out at the end ughhh !!! Totally did not expect that . My mom passed away 5 months ago from cancer (it was all so unexpected and sudden) and it's been agonizing to live without her . Funny enough I would always call her after my hikes to let her know I was ok and if she talked to me before she always told me to be safe and she loves me. This was a beautiful game and helped me release some grief
this is my favourite video you've ever made, absolutely loved it! the editing was super fun and it was such a wholesome chill time, thank you for making it! edit: also regarding the point about making what you want to make as apposed to what you think others want you to, you should absolutely make what you're passionate about! i have really loved the recent videos on the channel and i think your enjoyment in making them shines through in the final product. i'm sure nobody wants you to force yourself to make content that you're not passionate about, you're mental health comes first! keep up the awesome work!
Yeah, if you make the content you want to make, you're guaranteed that someone likes it, while if you make the content you think other people want, you have less fun making it, and you might misread the trends anyway. Or, to put it another way: make content for the audience you want, not the audience you have.
@@SymbaLily on the watchtime thing. I don't know how youtube handels it but, sometimes I stop for the day your video and come back to watch the rest. Don't know if youtub just says "not watched to the end"
@Symbalily you really need to check out Ender Lillies quietus of the knights. If you like hollow Knight you will love this game. In my opinion the second best after hollow knight.
Your personality fits this game perfectly, I mean your basically the main character irl :) as to what you where discussing towards the end, I would love to see more cozy indie games on your channel, even if the views are worse than triple A games to begin with your passion shines through and viewers pick up on that.
2:53:18 was the funniest moment in the whole playthrough, I haven't laughed so hard in awhile. The way Avery fell and their character model position was hilarious 😭 it was so good. I definitely will come back to this video every once in awhile in the future just for that fall lmao. I know I was late to write this comment but thank you for playing this!
I’m so so happy you enjoyed this game. In fact I really wish there were more like it. Small open world, low pressure, fun dialogue, and some light emotional moments. Ever since playing it, I’ve been chasing that feeling and it’s been so hard to find. Watching you play let me feel the happiness I got from first playing it, so thank you! I’m really happy you liked it!
I'm becoming a big fan of yours! I wish you did audiobooks, too. I'd be one of your customers! You do such a great job on your videos, and you're wonderful to listen to.
I just finished the video! I have to split it up when they're this long, but I really try to make sure I continue to the end when I can. Anyway, I just thought you'd like to know that I watch your channel because of your kind heart, positive perspective, and sweet disposition. I never would have watched anyone else play this game. You should totally play games you want to play and do what makes you happy. You're a gem!
I love when you play open world games~ When you get "distracted" and bounce around looking at all sorts of different bits, it reminds me of when I fell in love with a game. Just 10/10 love it!!
Loved this video because it's the best of all the reasons I enjoy all your videos! Cried at every point you did, which makes me feel better that I'm not the only one 😂 not many people on RUclips get as immersed in the games they play as you do and it's great to see 😁 Glad to hear you can play what you want to, I think everyone wants to see you enjoy your time rather than worrying about what people want you to ✌️ always a pleasure watching your experience, regardless of whether it's a game I've heard of
This game means a lot to me. I picked it up at a time when I was so overwhelmed by the amount of time I was spending on games. I had just finished Breath of the Wild and Persona 5 (both 150hr+ games) and needed something quick. I remember speed running to the top with as few resources as necessary and being very disappointed with it. So I decided to just explore, which was different than I’d ever done. This was the first game that I just enjoyed for the sake of playing. I’ve always been so focused on the destination, I never truly appreciated the journey. This game helped me learn that. Even though it was a single play session (like you), it sticks with me and reminds me to just enjoy the journey. :)
Checkout Lil Gator Game - it has a similar feel of running around doing stuff (and also uses an island setting) though it does have a bit more quest structure to it, and some good tracking. Plus, once you get into the post game, you can get trackers to help with finding every last person and collectible in the game, making 100% completion a lot more viable.
I love what youve done lately. Its really easy to second guess yourself but i think it's a good idea to follow the path that makes you happier. It reflects in your content too.
So glad to see how much you enjoyed this game. It’s my go-to comfy game, which I loooove to play. Kinda nice of a game to return to every now and then. Since it is a short hike ❤ This may be my favorite video of you this far ☺️
🎣🐟🐠🐡🦈‼️ you are the fishing channel! Please Amber, continue to play the games you want to play. Your joy is the truly awesome part of this venture. I'm sorry you aren't getting the views you did last year. There's going to be ebbs and flows. The important part is to enjoy the journey. I don't think tons of subs and views would fill you up, if you were playing games you weren't enjoying. I love spending time with your play throughs. Please keep having fun!
Man, when I saw that this video was "only" 3 hours long, I was really worried that this playthrough was going to miss a whole bunch of stuff. Not only was I pleasantly surprised at how completionist it was, I even got to see things that I didn't see during my own playthrough. This was lots of fun. I know that any entertainment business is a juggling act between doing the projects that you _want_ to do and doing the projects that make money. In this format, though, there's a baseline enjoyment/engagement needed from the creator for the video to also be enjoyable and engaging to the audience. I hope things work out. If nothing else, this single video is one of my favorite playthroughs of this game on youtube.
@@SymbaLily Oh by the way, I think the Ghibli movie you were probably thinking of is Ponyo! There's definitely a part of the melody that sounds very similar to the main theme in Ponyo imo. also fun easter egg. (i haven't finished the vid yet so if you found this then mb.) if you ride the boat up onto the beach-stick-ball court, there's some funny dialogue
I love this game and im glad you enjoyed it so much! You really took the time to find all the dialogue and minigames and didn't just race to the top. Thanks to you i now know there is a fishing journal to complete! So i will be doing that :)
I played this game based on your recommendation. I had so much fun! I’ve been playing some really dark challenging games lately and this reminded me of what a broad spectrum of experience gaming can be. now that I’ve played it I will watch your play through. I’m new to the channel and I’ve been enjoying it.
wow, that was awesome hike! I got LOTS of pleasure to watch the game and hear you voice and see your reactions. I totally agree with you when you talked about what to play and expectations from your channel. Even if I personally do not like souls-like games) Thanks for a good time with you!
For what it’s worth, I’ve never seen a play through of this game and now I’ve met Claire and shared in her journey because of you. I want to pick up this game now to and experience it for myself. I resonated so hard with our raccoon friend. I’m an artist too and I’ve struggled with trying to find a way to make content that will make me feel like I am worth something as an artist. Everyone tells me I’m good, but any time I’ve posted my art I get really embarrassed about it and I don’t promote myself at all so I hardly get any attention. But I’ve decided to just make art for the love of making art and views and clicks be damned! Anyway, I’m really happy you shared this playthrough and I hope you play the games you’re interested in because your joy comes through and it’s really contagious!
Oh shit I literally just finished your Outer Wilds playthrough (and still need to write out a proper thank you comment for how meaningful your playthrough was for me, that'll be coming) but what a treat to find out you've played another of my favourite atmospheric games. Given how much you gelled with Outer Wilds, I've not even started the video and I already know that's my evening sorted! What a treat.
It was just as nice to watch this a second time. It's hard to believe with how thorough you were, but there's still something you missed in this playthrough!
Oh my god it's one of my all-time favorite games! I spend a lot of time in it to calm after stress even though I've already 100%ed it a few times. Speaking of which, there's quite a lot of "hidden" dialogue in the game, e.g. if you talk to aunt May enough the phone call will be foreshadowed, you can irrigate the bird that tells you about gliding until he starts screaming at you, the frog mayor subplot (which you actually found, good job!) you can bring the boat to the beachstickball court or @ 1:38:54 jump on Tim's head and talk to him for some funny lines. And I'm sure there's plenty more that I don't remember. Anyway, love this game to death, hope maybe someone learned something new from my rant :)
lmao my mom is also dead and as soon as that call started I was like "Oh for christ's sake heeeeeere we go" so I completely sympathize, I had the exact same reaction.
I'm glad you're playing smaller games, but mostly I'm glad you're playing the ones you truly enjoy! It really makes it more fun to watch vids in which you have fun!
I'm sold! Loved your play through of this game. It ;looks gorgeous. I'll definitely be grabbing this game. Thanks for sharing your genuine love for this.
One of my favorite short games. The ending manages to make me cry buckets every time. Very much thoroughly encapsulates the necessity of finding the simple things to distract you from the worries of the world.
So... you say this is the cutest game ever, and Cozy K says it's one called Calico. :p You should play that game too if you haven't already, it's pretty adorable too.
I can only repeat what others already said: you are exactly the right person to play this kind of games. Very, very delightful play-through. And I almost choked on my blueberries when you said you need a blueberry break 😂
Love this game, the atmosphere, the characters, love it. This is the first video of yours that I've watched. Thinking of binging your hollow knight and outer wilds playthrough next, since I love those game, anyway keep up the good work!
What a joy that was to watch! I played this game years ago and it's so good to see it enjoyed as much as I enjoyed it. This kind of content may not pull the views like more popular stuff but you certainly have built a wonderful community who loves whatever you do, and that's something to be proud of!
the wholesome levels on this video are off the charts. did Symbalily just apologize to the lower quality setting because she wanted the game to look nicer? haha "nothin against the pixels"
That was indeed very cute, but in defense of the game, it's not a lower quality setting and more of a stylistic design choice. There's something in the sharpness of the edges that I can't quite pinpoint, but the more pixelated version do not feel like "bad quality" to me.
I'm so glad you're enjoying these cozy games so much! There are so many great indie titles out there, and they go great with the vibe of your channel. It's wonderful to see you having such a good time. I've really fallen in love with shorter games recently, sometimes it's great to have something bite-sized that you can finish and experience all of even when life gets busy. I was thinking about other games that might go well alongside the others you seem to enjoy, and while I wouldn't call them "cozy" by any stretch (So they're more appropriate for if you're ever feeling more moody titles), I think you'd really enjoy the vibes of Shadow of the Colossus or The Last Guardian, if you've not gotten to play those yet! A lot of this game hit pretty hard for me for multiple reasons. I relate to both you and our little raccoon friend a lot. I've worked for over 15 years as an artist, and have been dealing with the conundrum between drawing what I want and what people expected. I built my following on fanart, mostly, so starting to do my own thing made a real dent in interaction. So I'll give you a bit of what I've learned: Interaction may reduce when you move onto different things, but gradually, you'll build up an audience who ARE interested in the things YOU enjoy because they find your videos anyway. It may not be the landslide that other popular titles get right out of the gate, but building a cozy community who share your interests will mean you'll get much more meaningful interaction from the people who are here. Whatever you've got planned for the future, I'm looking forward to it! Your content will always shine most when you feature something you're passionate about.
The first time I played this was a couple of years ago and it was a total joy. Also at the time my mum was very ill, so the ending had an unexpected emotional impact. Since then I had forgotten most of the game so it was pure joy to watch you play through this. Thank you so much. It was a perfect video. Since I played it my Mum has now died, so I reacted to that moment this time in the same way. Lots of love.
I've been absolutely loving the charming Indie content on the channel, your editing and calming demeanor make these videos some of the most relaxing ones I've seen on here. I don't want to be forward, but I would like to suggest that you look into the game Sable, it has a wonderful art style and mysterious world to discover🌙✨
The delight in this game makes me suspect Amber would really enjoy "Untitled Goose Game". It's got less snappy dialogue than this, but very heavy on hijinks.
Oh this was really cute and a delight to watch! Also, if you're ever in the mood for a similar game to play, I highly recommend Lil Gator Game! (which was apparently inspired by this one (I had to look it up shortly into the video since I thought they had to have the same developer or something.))
Bramble: The Mountain King is another Indie game worth checking out. It starts out sweet and charming but gets very dark very quickly. Think Little Nightmares but even more disturbing.
One game I'd love to see you play is What Remains of Edith Finch. It's not too long - maybe three hours or so. It does deal with the loss of family members, so it might be emotional for you. But it's a beautiful story and a beautifully made game with lots of surprises and a sort of wonderful magical realism storytelling. There's also a clever method of storytelling and characterisation done through the production desisign.
I like watching your videos. There are other creators that play pretty much off the wall games all the time and they are doing just fine. Keep at it and the views will come. As long as you enjoy it.
I just recently discovered this delightful game, and since there isn't a sequel, I'm really glad I was able to share in your joy by watching it again through your eyes. Even the best artists in history sometimes did works on commission to survive, so I hope you can find a happy balance between doing what you love and doing what you think might benefit you financially. But when in doubt, follow your heart!
I was wondering if you'd ever dive into this one! This game is such a pleasant and simple experience that for some reason feels so rare and I love the humor sewn into the whole thing.
I saved this video specifically for a time when I could watch it with my full attention and I was not disappointed! What a fun game and an amazing playthrough! I was grinning and smiling just as much through the whole thing. I love watching your videos because of how much joy you find when playing, so this is honestly one of my favourite playthrough videos! Keep doing what you love please, because that joy and love is what really defines your content in my eyes! Also kudos to the editing, I laughed so hard at the well placed zooms with the ramp and the mountain race 😂
That was a very enjoyable, relaxing and fun game to watch. You somehow made all characters better by voicing them. And I love how it turned halfway through into a fishing game, which was expected from my new favorite fish channel on YT!
I came back to watch this one after you suggested it in your latest update video. (only took me two evenings to watch this time! 😂) I think it's one of your best videos, I'm glad you suggested it. You really seemed to love playing, the characters and story, etc. Keep pursuing that drive to play what makes you happy, algorithm be damned.
Ooh I love this game! I personally can't play or watch a lot of the AAA highly realistic graphic Big Time Games so I rlly appreciate channels that focus more on stuff like this, and I doubt I'm the only one in that boat. Do & play what u like and the rest will come, I think. ⭐
Really enjoyed seeing you explore this beautiful little island! Absolutely love this game and it's been crazy to see how much more there was to discover, when I thought I had seen most of it already :D
I am glad that you played and liked this little gem. I think I (and I am sure there where others) suggested it when you where feeling a bit tired after some stressful Hollow Knight session. I think I also suggested Strange horticulture. Another small and cute game is Monument Valley (1 and 2). Pretty easy and short, but very nice. I look forward to see your Dredge-videos, but I want to play it myself first, so it will be a later pleasure. Take care. Heres hoping for Silksong =)
Amber, listen, do videos of the games you enjoy. If you don't want to play RDR2, don't do it. Also, your enjoyment of games you like is really contagious. I like watching those. Views is just a number.
well this is just plain adorable. i kinda wanna play this now. makes me t hink of ... what wa sit. not aer memories of old, though the music vibes. night in the woods! that's it. the nicer, cuter parts of night in the woods i mean
Hey Amber, happy to see you playing all these new things lately. I've been having a blast watching your Subnautica vids and it's even helped pushed me to overcome some of my own anxieties and play through it myself. I got so overwhelmed the first time I tried but your vids have helped give me a better sense of direction. Anyway if you're looking for some more new things to try, I would absolutely LOVE to see you play Life is Strange, assuming you haven't already. It's the type of game that really rewards the kinds of players that take everything in, which I get the impression you are. Keep up the great work, looking forward to what's next!
I bought this game for my daughter two Christmas ago (I got her lots of other stuff too). She had no idea the game even existed, and was very pleasantly surprised. She loves it. A lot. It really is a perfect "snack" of a game. Short but sweet. The game feels like a warm blanket, on a slow, stormy day. Reminds me of Donut Country in that aspect.
Hi Amber, I was thinking of fun games you could play and I can't believe I didn't think of it sooner. Have you ever played Stray? It's an adventure/puzzle game in which you play as a cat. I think you'd love it!
Well... I guess I'm going to have to finish this let's play later, because this is so cute that I want to play it myself without getting fully spoiled. :D
I don't know about your other viewers, but I started watching because I saw you playing an indie title (Hollow Knight) and not one of the big triple A titles. I subscribed when I saw you pick up another one of my favorite indie titles (Outer Wilds), and now I'm enjoying watching you play indie titles I've always wanted to play, like this one. When it comes to content, definitely focus on what makes you happy!

So... you say this is the cutest game ever, and Cozy K says it's one called Calico.
This kind of content may not pull the views like more popular stuff but you certainly have built a wonderful community who loves whatever you do, and that's something to be proud of!
the wholesome levels on this video are off the charts. did Symbalily just apologize to the lower quality setting because she wanted the game to look nicer? haha
"nothin against the pixels"
That was indeed very cute, but in defense of the game, it's not a lower quality setting and more of a stylistic design choice. There's something in the sharpness of the edges that I can't quite pinpoint, but the more pixelated version do not feel like "bad quality" to me.
The OST here is my favorite. What a cute and chill game!
Thank you so much for this comment and perspective!
You calling avery a b**ch in what is otherwise a completely wholesome game is the funniest thing to me 😂
I've been absolutely loving the charming Indie content on the channel, your editing and calming demeanor make these videos some of the most relaxing ones I've seen on here.
This is such a beutiful game, it's impossible not to love it. Great video!
OH! Amber I'm so glad you've played this game! It's one of my favorites.
This is one of my favorite games! It was so therapeutic during early covid times. Thanks for sharing your playthrough :) it was lovely
This was so nice to watch, it really felt like you had a lot of fun!! :D
A Short Hike is such a nice little game, indie games like this are so cool
I like watching your videos. There are other creators that play pretty much off the wall games all the time and they are doing just fine. Keep at it and the views will come. As long as you enjoy it.
I get that some videos might not do as well, but I for one love watching whatever you want to play. 💜💜💜
Cute game, cute player! The perfect combination!
Loved this playthrough almost as much as I loved the game!
Oh man this game made for such a nice afternoon when I first played it. Happy to relive that
"the reign of fish is over on the channel"
me, already having 100%'d short hike: *muffled crying*
One of my favorite games! Love to come back after a hard day and it feels like a nice hug
Had a lot of fun with this game. Nice stories, fun characters, interesting mechanics.. so many fish!
This is fun, Amber! I remember playing though this game not too long ago and enjoying myself. Thanks for the video!
Haven’t played this game. It’s in my backlog, now I’m gonna have to play it. Watching you play was so fun!
I love hiking, thanks for the video! Found you from your Echoes of the eye vids. Hiking also helps me when im down
So excited to watch this- A Short Hike is one of my favorite games. :)
Looks so cute! I'm gonna get it and play it and then watch the rest of your playthrough ^_^
Why is the first thing everyone does to swim into the sea? XD
I have been playing too many water based games, it called to me... 🌊
Yes! This is such a nice chill game. Very different experience to what I'm used to
well this is just plain adorable. i kinda wanna play this now.
makes me t hink of ... what wa sit. not aer memories of old, though the music vibes. night in the woods! that's it. the nicer, cuter parts of night in the woods i mean
Aww, I just wanted to say I'm sorry about your mom :(
I lost my dad almost two years ago, and I know how hard it may be.
sending hugs ❤
Maybe my favorite RUclips lets-play ever. I hope you can keep playing games you love, Amber!
You should play Haven Park. It has a lot of the same feelings of wholesomeness and serenity!
Aaah, this short hike made me smile waay too much.
Wonderful game and wonderful commentry and narrating from you!
Thanks for playing this game that completely flew (pun intended) over my radar!
Hi Amber, I was thinking of fun games you could play and I can't believe I didn't think of it sooner. Have you ever played Stray?
It's an adventure/puzzle game in which you play as a cat. I think you'd love it!
You cute gamer girls like you and Cozy K really fit the games you'll play. ^^; You'll are so wholesome and make everything really cozy.
Well... I guess I'm going to have to finish this let's play later, because this is so cute that I want to play it myself without getting fully spoiled. :D
This is a great game, I haven’t watched yet, but I’m sure you enjoyed it! I come back to it all the time
I don't know about your other viewers, but I started watching because I saw you playing an indie title (Hollow Knight) and not one of the big triple A titles. I subscribed when I saw you pick up another one of my favorite indie titles (Outer Wilds), and now I'm enjoying watching you play indie titles I've always wanted to play, like this one. When it comes to content, definitely focus on what makes you happy!
i laughed for the motor boat scene. Very peaceful stuff. Nice
Loved your playthrough and the game. So lovely. Will have to pick it up! Thanks 😊
More!
I’m really enjoying these videos in my downtime.
