Your Bloodborne playthrough was my introduction to your channel, I've been waiting for this ever since! This was my first FromSoft game and I'll never forget it as a gaming experience.
A small tip, since this wasn't a thing in Bloodborne but very much is a thing in Souls games: The weight you carry (armor, weapons, shields etc) matters. Like really matters. It directly influences how fast you can roll (when you're heavy, you will start to "fat roll" as they call it). Currently (at 1:17:00 at least) you're mid-rolling as it's called, meaning you're not overencumbered but you're also not really light. When you started with this character, fighting the Asylum Demon, you were fast rolling Fast rolling is generally considered the best, tho you can also make due with mid-rolling. You'd never want to be fat rolling though. There's a percentage these come into effect. At >25%, you will start to mid roll (before that, it's obviously fast roll) and at 70% you will start to fat roll. There's no direct percentage in your stats to show this unfortunately, they'd add that in Dark Souls II, however, you can see it from your Equip Load. Basically you do a standard percentage calculation with the first number divided by the second number and then multiply it by 100 (tho since you're a gamedev, I'm sure you knew that already ^^)
YES, YOU were rewarded with an awesome view of the original Firelink Shrine. You are doing very well, do not concern yourself with the time you take. You learned Bloodborne very quickly and you are already noticing MANY different aspects of the environment that MOST don't. Your amazing sense of awareness and detail really ensures a GREAT playthrough! No Worries!
She noticed not only the bird but its nest on her first visit to firelink. I don't think I ever noticed the nest until I was walking up to it, and was like, "oh, there's a nest here." SPOILER BELOW And she even correctly assumed what the nest does. If I didn't know she was a professional game dev, I'd have thought she was cheating. lol
I think she did a practice run beforehand or read up on stuff. There is a slight tic that gives this away. If not, great! But I still can’t fathom why this “content” is popular today.
@@skiphoffenflaven8004 she is a game developer, she understands and can read the clues that the game gives us better that most people, its not that she knows things before hand its her being able to see the desing behind it. Add her experience with other games (especially BB and Zelda) and there you go.
@@OiMitchlike when she saw the demon at the start and guessed she will have to sneak past him, it was fishy (even though technically it was wrong), but then "I'm gonna get the heater shield idk why" was straight up obvious..
The best thing about watching you play Bloodborne was seeing you grow and enjoy the experience at your own pace! Don't put any pressure on yourself, just roll with your flow, gurl 💅
I appreciate that you actually try to pay attention to the level design, environmental storytelling, and outright story telling. You read item descriptions... without necessarily KNOWING that that's how fromsoft communicates 90% of the lore. And, above all, I love that you smacked Asylum's booty and won then said outright "that was fun!" It's nice to see someone... just. saying they had fun with a fight! Because you're playing a game! You're playing! You're the ideal audience for fromsoft games and I hope you play all of them
@@SymbaLily How stupid that they did such an endless chase in the remaster: in the original, each enemy had a small zone around his respawn, after going beyond which - he lost interest in the player and returned to respawn.
That first black knight below the stair is such a great piece of level design. It's just a strong enemy in an unremarkable spot off the path, but encountering it the first time is extremely memorable for every player.
Especially if you are first like "nope" and then you get knocked off by the flaming barrel only to find yourself on that ledge where the only way out is to jump the gap that takes you bottom of the stairs behind the black knight. 😄 That is, in my opinion, incredible level design. On hindsight the Undead Burg is such a masterpiece.
It's funny cause he chases you off the edge after death and you can just get a broken as hell weapon straight away. Made my first playthrough a joke lol...
Played this game in 2012 and after a few frustrating losses to this absolute chad, I stopped there. Started playing again over the weekend... encountered him on Friday evening... played the whole of Saturday, the first time in zonks- just mainly that area between the bonfire and the knight.. in-between a few gear-runs and soul-runs via the Catacombs/Valley of Drakes, rushing the knight armor in front of the Hydra, etc. Got my a**se handed to me all day long. The d*mn knight armor(Cleric/Knight build) and it's lazy rolls had me going crazy all day long until I learned to parry properly. (Blocking is just so cheap and "easy") I must've lost closeto a 100 or more times to him during the day... and then I unceremoniously beat him quickly & easily- just like that, once I had parry/reposte and backstab down to a tee. I was training this the whole day. Only then - Sunday morning in the wee hours, could I "rest" .. and finally move onto, and beat the Taurus daemon, on first encounter. Now? The game is much more enjoyable and "easier", cause he is like your very own Mr. Miyagi. The most memorable and haunting encounter for me in a game since the late 90's. I'm an old-ish fart (45), so I'm not as good a gamer these days since I basically stopped playing regulalry a decade ago, so Amber's deffo miles better than me as a beginner. Man... it was the most satisfying thing in a loong time! Felt like a Monday-morning meeting and you're kicking a**... including the boss' a**! 😀
I really liked your methodical combing through the area. That is such a big part of the experience, keep in on, even now there were more places you could have visited. Just by doing that you get a much better learning curve on this game, what will be eventually your biggest asset. Though the extra items obtained and unlocked shortcuts will eventually stack up too.
One thing I like about this playthrough is the speed at which you start discovering things in the environment. DS1 especially really rewards exploration, and it's great watching you put your game design instincts to work so quickly and so readily. Looking forward to more of this series!
That was so entertaining from start to finish I can't remember the last time I laughed so much! Not gonna lie a lot of the laughs were at you not with you haha! Your panicked commentary when fighting enemies is so funny seriously. I like the use of the jump attack, very nice, and good job with the Taurus demon. Overall very chaotic, frenetic and so so much fun, really want to see more!
pretty sure everyone who has played this game wishes they could go back and play for the first time again, watching you try to work things out is awesome. have so much fun!
I'm sure many pointed this out already, but the backstab only works when your shield is down, so release "L" before pressing "R" when you are behind an enemy. The actual area that counts as "behind" is sometimes more generous than you think and just needs some getting used to. Also, you can hold "A" to slide down ladders.
The downsides of being hollow is being unable to kindle bonfires until you reverse hollowing, and being unable to summon player or npc helpers for certain boss fights. The downside of human form is that you can sometimes be invaded by hostile npc’s or other players
Oh my goodness 14:52 absolutely wrecked me! 🤣🤣 Knowing full well what was going to happen, and how you just boldly charged in completely unassuming! Had to re-watch this multiple times and it just gets funnier each time! I love your content, Amber!
You are doing VERY well for a blind DS playthrough. You're intuition to explore will help immensely, and your cool head under pressure and great gaming reflexes are wonderful assets. Can't wait to see more from this series. One tiny piece of advice is don't hoard resources like the homeward bones, most things you can always get more of, except really high lvl upgrade materials, but that is far in the future.
After hundrets of hours in DS1 and a long abstinence you rekindled my interest in playing it again. Don't rush it! Take your time and have some fun! If something feels to hard, farm up some souls and upgrade yourself! Things will get better. Love your Souls-Playthroughs! Tipp for shields: Every Element has an absorbtion rating(e.g. 100 Physical, 70 Fire,...), just read the extended info in the shops before buying one, it will help ;) Your first shield didn't have 100% physical resistance, so you did lose health every hit.
Gotta say, unintentional as it was, getting the Heater shield was a really good choice. Has really solid stability for a shield its size and weight, really good fire defence and 100% physical. Love when people accidentally make really good decisions, so satisfying to watch
I somewhat recently completed my own very first playthrough of Dark Souls and it was without a shadow of a doubt, the most fun I have ever had in a videogame. I jumped in completely blind, avoided all guides and spoilers and just learned the game myself. 100% an experience all gamers should have. I hope you enjoy this game as much as I did!
@Shawn Brink nah I played the first one offline all the way through. Second I played online because there are no real realistic options to make it offline without disconnecting my xbox from the wifi constantly, which would be annoying in the long run, but I still haven't been spoiled. Kinda hard to spoil when 99.9% of the player messages are goofy messages like "woman ahead, try tongue but hole"
Yay!!! Always fun to see someone get into Dark Souls as a new player! There’s always something new with every play through and you’re doing it so well!
Honestly the whole souls series frightens and fascinates me. I watched several friends play it and every second they seem like angry and miserable. However, when asked they always talk about how much they love it. The disconnect smacks of black magic.
1:12:39 I can't believe you made it all the way to 1.5 hours before I had to laugh and say "welcome to dark souls" XD. I'm SO SO glad you're doing this game now, you're gonna love it!
Enjoy! I was put onto these games April 2022 and I've loved every second of it. Take your time, explore, learn and overcome. Looking forward to the series :)
Wow! Beating the Asylum demon first try and Taurus on the second is a pretty promising start! It's clear you haven't forgotten _everything_ you learned playing Bloodbourne! ☺ Good job on spotting the very useful run-up-the-ladder-and-drop approach to the Taurus demon so quickly! Took me a while to figure that one out!
I think as a game developer you'll really enjoy the level design and the many ways the world is connected. can't wait to see the rest of the plaaythorugh!!!
Yes this game has probably the best level design ever. And I know this sounds like an overstatement but there is a reason this is so often considered one of the best games of all time. Cant wait to see someone who has seen the other side of those designs experience this :)
Oh my GOD, I've been dying, DYYYING! to see you play this. Can't overstate how excited I am for this playthrough! 😃😃😃 EDIT: After watching this first vid, I just wanted to add that you are playing at the absolute perfect pace. Taking your time, noticing and enjoying your environment, reading item descriptions, and defeating bosses with relative ease (despite your hilarious panicked state)--even your deaths are welcome because it's satisfying to see you learn from your mistakes so quickly. Please keep on just being you and playing as you always do. It may not seem like it to you, but it is IMMENSELY satisfying to watch you play. This is as close to playing this wonderful game for the first time again as we can get. ♥♥♥
So happy you are playing this classic! There are two important “rules” you should follow to get the most out of your playthrough: 1. Explore EVERYTHING. The devs are notorious for hiding important things in obscure places. 2. Read item descriptions. if you want story, Dark Souls doesn’t just give it to you-much of the story is told through item descriptions. Pretend you are an archeologist: every new item you find is a piece to the puzzle of this fascinating world. Enjoy!
Really excited about this! Dark Souls is probably my favorite game of all time. That said god damn, I heard the switch version had some audio problems, but I didn't realize it was this bad, apparently they compressed the sound files for some reason. It sounds so incredibly muddy I thought there might have been something wrong with my headset for a bit. Hope it's not too big of a bother for you and you can enjoy the game just fine!
This is the dark souls experience I wish I could have again. As a veteran of the series, the thing I miss the most is my first playthrough, being delighted and terrified by every new thing as I explore a world full of mystery
I know. She went so long having only died once, and I was like, "oh man is this going to be like Hollow Knight where she never dies?" Then gravity kicked in.
Important tip: For shields ignore the number you saw at 1:01:32 that is for attack damage. For shields open the details and check the column to the right that one will tell you how much of the damage it will absorb (80%, 100%). It shows many kinds of damage physical, magical, electric, etc. If you read this i hope it helps.
Absolute joy watching someone experience Dark Souls for the first time! Thank you for the video! Also when you asked why Nintendo switched A and B it’s actually Nintendo who have had that orientation since the SNES the PlayStation also has this orientation (O the symbol similar to a tick in Japan, X being cancel) but western developers thought the X was intended for selection leading to all the confusion with controllers now.
Hey there, you were recommended at my starting page, i watched the whole episode and I am definitely staying for this. Really funny to watch :D A Tip: If you are facing someone with a shield, you can kick him. Just try it :D Another Tip: If u stay below 25% equip load, you will roll faster and your time in which you are invincible is slightly bigger Another another Tip: Being Hollow does not hae any negative effects. Being human puts you into multiplayer but isnce you are playing offline anyway it doesn't matter. You need to be human to summon people like Solaire. The guy u just met after the Tauros Demon
I only played this game for the first time last year, yet there's still something weirdly nostalgic about watching this video. Seeing you methodically make your way through Undead Burg definitely taps into that rare magical allure that Dark Souls has for so many people. Looking forward to seeing your reactions to the other areas of the game!
I'm only a 3rd through but I can already tell, you won't do badly at this game at all, don't worry. You picked up everything far quicker than any of my friends when they started. I'm so looking forward to see you experience this one!
Seeing someone play darksouls for the first time ever is such a heart warming experience. Finding the open door when the boss comes after you *chef kiss* such fun level design.
Oh maaann, to experience these games for the first time. Takes me back. I finished Demon's Souls and checked for a sequel and read Dark Souls was gonna come out in a week, and it was amazing. I was so happy. :')
Bloodborne was my first Fromsoft game and first time I watched your channel. This game was my second Fromsoft game. Then I played Dark Souls 3, sekiro, dark souls 2, Demons souls, elden ring. They are all so much fun and their own charm to them. This ones charm is the world design and inner-connectivity of it.
Some tips if you want them - nothing plot / directional related, but still might be considered spoilers. Spoilers ahead: 1. It doesn't matter what weapon, armor, skill, spell you use, but it is usually best to focus on the primary attributes of that pursuit. E.g. if you are going to primarily use Pyromancy, focus your leveling on the glove, and, as always, health and endurance, as they help with any build. 2. Weight and Stamina make a big difference in how you dodge - so, unless you are depending on armor alone, don't overweight yourself otherwise you will 'fat roll' 3. Look at descriptions of items you are thinking of using - for instance, weapons, they tell you the primary stats of the weapon, scaling of the weapon with those stats, other effects, such as poison, holy, magic, etc. Weapons the left column description matters - offense, shields, the right column description matters - defense. 4. Spells are not universal - Magic spells, Faith spells, Pyromancy all require different objects to use - Pyromancy requires the pyromancy flame, for instance. 5. Just because something's description sounds cool doesn't mean it is an effective item. Don't be afraid to try items, but don't be afraid to discard them as well. 6. Running past enemies can be deadly to you - they tend to follow quite a way, and then you have lots of them on you. 7. Keys and items of similar nature from merchants can get you into areas otherwise restricted. 8. The game is open world for the most part, so don't be afraid to declare an area too high level and go look somewhere else. 9. Some items will help you in some areas, or against certain enemies, so pay attention to myths and legends in real life - e.g. Silver kills Werewolves - note: this was not a spoiler - there are no werewolves in DS1. 10. Bonfires: So this is never very well explained. To kindle a bonfire, you need 'soft' humanity, which means you need to use one before kindling, but you also need to be human, meaning you need to consume a humanity and then 'Reverse Hollowing' before trying to kindle. Bonfires can be kindled to a certain level depending on the bonfire and quest completion. Firelink, for instance, starts with 10 Estus, most others only give you 5 out of the gate. 11. There are mechanics in the game for farming, and you can farm certain enemies for certain items. Some are random drops, but some are based on how many enemies you kill. 12. The most important thing about souls games is that dying and losing your souls, doesn't matter. Just pick up and do it again. That fact in combination with the fact that almost the entire game is very fair - like Mario Brothers games, if you understand the mechanics and don't mess it up, it is really rare an unfair death will occur. Learn how your shield, weapons and dodging works, learn how the enemies work, and the game is yours to take. 13. It is possible to get so powerful prior to killing any main bosses or really even advancing the story, that you can one shot the first post-asylum demon 'intended' boss. Look around and don't be afraid to die, and you can accumulate a lot of great items. 14. Ranged weapons can really help you control mobs aggression - you can pull one instead of many, or even trick them so you can backstab them. 15. Use the combat techniques in the game, they can really help you. Backstabs, parrying, dodging, spells. Have fun and good luck.
I've seen dozens of blind playthroughs of this game and this is one of the best! I'm genuinely impressed by how easily you picked this game up. Keep it up!
Finding this channel with your Hollow Knight playthrough last year has been so great, really made my working from home less lonely :D. I'm a massive souls fan so i'm excited to follow this playthrough! Hopefully Silksong will be this year...
An impressive first time to be honest, you are doing incredible well, your fight vs Taurus Demon is a 10/10 and a perfect example to show someone who never played a "souls" game how to understand and analize fights using the elements around you, it's the second time i watch your content (first one was Hollow Knight) and i'm enjoying your content a lot, i speak spanish but i love other lenguages hahah so sorry if my writting have some mistakes
Praise the sun, Dark Souls! You love to see it! That was a great time the whole way through. Great to see the DS jump scares holding up too. Your panicked commentary was a delight and I'd love to see more.
not sure if you have a pc or other console but i'd definitely recommend playing on anything but a switch, just for the highest fidelity visuals and quality of experience. will still watch and support regardless though good luck!
I have intentionally not been watching these to avoid spoiling it for myself, but now i’ve finally bought the game. This is my third fromsoft game, but my first dark souls game so i am very excited to play it!
Hey, a few tips about game mechanics that are not explained in the game (no spoilers): 1) For the "backstab" to work, you have to lower your shield! And stand behind them of course. 2) Your weapons and armor have weight and they encumber you. Only stuff you have actually equipped counts towards your encumbrance. There are 3 different dodge roll speeds up to 25%, 50% and 100% encumbrance. You can see your encumbrance level in the inventory. Light roll (up to 25%) is the fastest and has the most invincibility frames. This makes a noticeable difference in how easy it is to dodge, so consider wearing lighter armor or un-equipping secondary weapons if you have trouble dodging things! Maybe you noticed that your roll changed when you equipped that crossbow. Leveling up endurance increases the amount you can carry. 3) Using your weapon with both hands can be very useful. It increases your strength by 50% and generally makes your attacks more damaging and far more effective in staggering enemies or breaking through their shields.
love this game. i find it weirdly relaxing. probably due to how slow and methodical gameplay is combined with the atmosphere. and the calmer you are the easier it is too, as panicking leads to bad decisions lol
I’m so glad you’re playing another souls game. Bloodborne is one of my favorite games and I watched all your vids. Don’t sweat the gameplay, watching blind playthroughs is the best!
@@abenthur7306 Or… hear me out… people don’t always play things in the order the videos release, and sometimes things take longer to edit and sequence than others.
Never seen your channel before but gotta say I had so much fun watching you play and discover the world that is dark souls. Will be binge atching the rest.
It's great to witness someone taking her time to appreciate the world and the surroundings - instead of the usual way, i.e. trying to skip through the Asylum at maximum pace and getting frustrated because one doesn't understand sh*t.
I'm not a souls player (tend to prefer strategy rpg's) but this was highly entertaining and i look forward to the rest of the playthrough. Your playthroughs are always a joyful experience to watch and don't worry about going to slow.
You continue to impress me with how observant you are. FROM, as you know, are masters of 'telling you without telling you' and you pick up on it so quickly and easily. Glad to see you back on a FROM game. This was great, I'm excited for the rest of your playthrough of this!
Hey Amber, as someone who found this channel through Bloodborne and Hollow Knight (Thanks RUclips Algorithm) and started with the Soul series like 10 years ago, it is a joy to see you go to were the hype started. Just compared to me back then, you are doing so good (again btw, I was so impressed in Bloodborne), showing real skills vs the Taurus Demon! Some general tips for your first Dark Souls from me: 1. You can see what amount of each damage type is blocked by a shield if you go to the second stats screen (pressing Y). 2. Every spell has a limited amount of uses until you rest at a bonfire. This was changed back to FP in the following games (Ds2, Ds3, Eldenring) 3. You can only see summon signs of NPCs (like Sun-Bro Solaire you just met) when you are in your human form. This is never explained explicitly in the game if I remeber correctly. 4. Check your equipment load in the stats screen. As soon as you pass 50 % of it you will become slow and start "fat rolling". This might happen if you get heavy armor or a big weapon. 5. In the level up menu you can press the minus button to get a little explanation about every stat on the screen. Hope you enjoy the game and feel the magic of this beatiful journey! 🤗 Praise the Sun \[T]/
all really good advice! 👆 just to add a little, the detailed stat view of equipment also tells you what build compliments a weapon. you can see how well any weapon scales with certain attributes (strength, dexterity, etc) so if you find a weapon you really like, you know what to level up to use it better!
After probably 700 accumulated hours in this game, I learned something today from watching somebody play for the very first time. I never knew that the black knights didn't get their positions reset on bonfire rest. I mean, it makes sense, since [game mechanic which I'll let you discover for yourself], but I never knew about that.
I really love your videos; you make it a truly lovely experience to share my favourite games with you. Thank you. Definitely looking forward to this, but no pressure; just enjoy it however you do, it's what we love best about you. We watch you for you, after all
Amazing episode! Very excited to watch though this! You are doing great so far, especially for your first playthrough. That was really weird that the Black Knight didnt reset after resting at the bonfire. That shouldn't have happened. Anyways, some general non-spoiler tips that most newcomers to Dark Souls have trouble with if you want them: 1. Don't level Resistance, it is literally worthless. 2. Kindling, you've already figured out most of it, so no real need to explain more. 3. Humanity, you've figured out how it's used for kindling and reversing hollowing. Thats great. Humanity, the resource, comes in two forms, hard humanity and loose humanity, hard humanity is like the items you picked up, they will stay in your inventory forever until used. Loose humanity is that top left number that you get when you use those humanity items, or sometimes randomly from enemies. That is used for reversing hollowing and kindling. The more loose humanity you have up to 10 the better item discovery you have but also the greater chance of losing it upon multiple deaths. 4. Being Human, If you are playing offline, then when you are Human you can see NPC summon signs in certain areas to help you through areas or fight bosses with, if you so choose, but also while you are human in some areas you can be invaded by NPCs as well. It will be inconvenient when it happens but the rewards for beating them are nice. If playing online, it also allows the summoning or invasion of actual other players. 5. Item details, I believe since you are on switch it will be the y-button, could be x, but when you are in your inventory you'll want to use the details screen to compare items and read more about them. Especially for shields, that first screen tells you nothing useful about how effective a shield may be compared to another. Everything else I can think of you are aware of from your experience with Bloodborne.
I recently started playing Dark Souls again. I platinumed the original, and plan doing the same with the remaster. I consider myself a decent player, but your first playthrough definitely puts mine to shame! You seem to have good instincts so keep doing what you're doing. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this series. Watching new players brings back a lot of good memories.
A bit late in saying this but in regards as to your comment about Nintendo's layout being reversed, the reason Nintendo have their buttons in the layout they're in is because that's how it's been on their controllers since the SNES. It's actually Sega with the Dreamcast that first had the layout most people know today and Microsoft carried that forward with their Xbox controllers. Just thought I'd put this here for the curious.
Hi! New to the channel! The algorithm struck and it was great fun to watch someone start Dark Souls for the first time. It's great to see someone else's fresh reactions when you know a game well, and it helped me relive how I felt when I played it for the first time, especially the "oh shit" moments when the game throws a curveball your way. You did really well first time out. In future, it'd be great to see you take on more Souls games and also the Nioh series (a series I love even more than Souls!). Also, cool Hollow Knight plushie. Keep up the good work!
I also did but I didn't know you could get magic and it's looks cool. I just came here for tips since I couldn't kill the tauros demon or the skeletons
I don't see that mentioned enough but the whole introduction/ Undead Asylum- the narration and the whole background has so much Lord of the Rings vibes. It's not just the "elves and dwarves" but the real spirit of what Lord of the Rings is.
Having first arrived when you were making the BB videos and loved them, I'm really excited to see your take on one of the original Souls games. Hope the playthrough goes well, and be nice, fellow commenters - it was a first time for all of us, once!
Hi Amber! Hollow knight is one of if not my favorite game I’ve ever played, and watching your playthrough was a an unimaginable joy. Your first hollow knight video popped up on my RUclips home page shortly after you had uploaded it when I was going through a very very hard time in my life mentally. It might be jumping the gun to say your series saved my life, but I can say with confidence that watching your series helped make my life bearable at the time. I was always looking forward to your next video and I would be ecstatic when I saw it had been uploaded. Now I get to watch you play another one of my all time favorites. The main point of this message is that you helped me through a very tough time and I’m sure you’ve affected others in that way as well. You seem to have a beautiful soul. Please keep being yourself. Thank you so much for your joyous content❤️ Can’t wait for Silksong!!!
They want you to use homeward bones for that reason lol but glad to see another person enjoying fromsoft games, really hope you have fun and go through all 3 games, it's quite the journey, and experience!
Amazing reaction to the Asylum Demon! I imagine that's exactly the set of actions Miyazaki and FromSoft hoped players would do; scream, get hit, stand in disbelief, attack, stare at damage numbers in disbelief, attempt to open the locked main door, and then finally noticing the lit up escape at the last second. 2% damage per hit with the broken sword wouldn't actually be too bad. In reality 2hp per hit is only around 0.24% of its total 825 health.
Oooooh YESSSS!!! Your Bloodborne playthrough introduced me to your channel, I am super excited for this! I hope you play the rest of Fromsoftware’s games!
Subscribed right after you died for the first time, you're doing great! Laughed out loud later at trying to burn the crows nest. Loving the commentary and it's always a great time watching someone experience dark souls for the first time!
Yessssssssss so excited for you to experience this stone cold gaming classic! I loved how naturally you got into the exploration aspects of Bloodborne, and this promises so many treasures!
Amber- I must say that you have such an amazingly unique/pleasant style… SO fun to watch. Outstanding attention to detail… You don’t miss a thing! It’s so fun to watch you start this playthrough on one of the most iconic games of all time. I too started with bloodborne(my all-time favorite!), and then went to dark souls one as you have. It’s a blast watching you start this game… Almost as if I’m starting it again myself for the first time. Thanks for the nostalgic/outstanding stream… Enjoy!!!
I love how you enjoy every little aspect of the games you play, things I would normally not even think about but suddenly find myself agreeing with you
Your Bloodborne playthrough was my introduction to your channel, I've been waiting for this ever since! This was my first FromSoft game and I'll never forget it as a gaming experience.
Ah that's awesome! I think I feel the same way about Bloodborne!
yeah i enjoyed her BBorne playthrough also
True 👍 ☺️

@@SymbaLily Bloodborne is soooo good. You inspired me to actually play it and see it through to the end.
A small tip, since this wasn't a thing in Bloodborne but very much is a thing in Souls games:

When you started with this character, fighting the Asylum Demon, you were fast rolling
Fast rolling is generally considered the best, tho you can also make due with mid-rolling.
By "carry" I believe this fine person means "is equipped". You can have whatever in your inventory and just strip off if you like.
@@Lucifers-Stepdad yes, sorry. Equipped indeed
Fat roll kicks in at 50% in DS1. Fkin sux.
I don't think I ever noticed the nest until I was walking up to it, and was like, "oh, there's a nest here."

And she even correctly assumed what the nest does. If I didn't know she was a professional game dev, I'd have thought she was cheating. lol

You're the ideal audience for fromsoft games and I hope you play all of them
Hope you have a better experience with this series Amber, I'm so excited!
Thank youuuu😊
She is so joyful and excited! 😅😂🙌🏻 Fromsoft is the best of the best !
That is, in my opinion, incredible level design. On hindsight the Undead Burg is such a masterpiece.
It's funny cause he chases you off the edge after death and you can just get a broken as hell weapon straight away. Made my first playthrough a joke lol...
@vaenii5056 it's facing the other way though 😅 you can just ignore him and come back later, or leave him to guard his tearstone ring 😅
(Blocking is just so cheap and "easy")
I must've lost closeto a 100 or more times to him during the day... and then I unceremoniously beat him quickly & easily- just like that, once I had parry/reposte and backstab down to a tee.
I do this, and someone I co-op with kept asking if I was lost lol
Hahaha brilliant, thank you so much for watching
pretty sure everyone who has played this game wishes they could go back and play for the first time again, watching you try to work things out is awesome. have so much fun!
Just press
No you gotta double tap sprint in DS1 to slide down ladders, just don't do that in other souls games or you'll jump to your death.
Suspiciously well 🤔

Absolutely enjoyed watching you play this! Can't wait to see more!
Thank you!!!
100 Physical, 70 Fire,...), just read the extended info in the shops before buying one, it will help ;) Your first shield didn't have 100% physical resistance, so you did lose health every hit.
rekindled, you say?
Nope. Rush it. Go for a record. Not much else to do...
@Shawn Brink That was supposed to be a joke but okay. I know it's not actually 99%, not that I have to answer to you in the first place.
You are a very hostile person. But I'm going to end this silly argument you so clearly want, right here.
Bloodborne is a much harder game than Darksouls 1 other than the Artorius dlc fight. so beating Bloodborne makes DS 1 a breeze

Yes this game has probably the best level design ever. And I know this sounds like an overstatement but there is a reason this is so often considered one of the best games of all time. Cant wait to see someone who has seen the other side of those designs experience this :)

11:45 Fun fact: "It's not gonna make me fight that, right?!" was the working title of Dark Souls during development.
Oh my GOD, I've been dying, DYYYING! to see you play this. Can't overstate how excited I am for this playthrough! 😃😃😃
EDIT: After watching this first vid, I just wanted to add that you are playing at the absolute perfect pace.
This episode was amazing from A to Z
I know. She went so long having only died once, and I was like, "oh man is this going to be like Hollow Knight where she never dies?"
Then gravity kicked in.
So it was AmaZ?
Eh to Zed
Important tip:
For shields ignore the number you saw at 1:01:32 that is for attack damage.
Hey there,
you were recommended at my starting page, i watched the whole episode and I am definitely staying for this. Really funny to watch :D
A Tip: If you are facing someone with a shield, you can kick him. Just try it :D
Another Tip: If u stay below 25% equip load, you will roll faster and your time in which you are invincible is slightly bigger
Another another Tip: Being Hollow does not hae any negative effects.

They are all so much fun and their own charm to them. This ones charm is the world design and inner-connectivity of it.
I loved your Bloodborne and Hollow Knight playthrough, very excited to see your journey through Dark Souls!
Some tips if you want them - nothing plot / directional related, but still might be considered spoilers.
Spoilers ahead:
1. It doesn't matter what weapon, armor, skill, spell you use, but it is usually best to focus on the primary attributes of that pursuit. E.g. if you are going to primarily use Pyromancy, focus your leveling on the glove, and, as always, health and endurance, as they help with any build.
2. Weight and Stamina make a big difference in how you dodge - so, unless you are depending on armor alone, don't overweight yourself otherwise you will 'fat roll'

I've discovered you when you played Bloodborne.
So hyped to see your discovery of Dark Souls!
Hey, a few tips about game mechanics that are not explained in the game (no spoilers):
1) For the "backstab" to work, you have to lower your shield!
It increases your strength by 50% and generally makes your attacks more damaging and far more effective in staggering enemies or breaking through their shields.
we need to get you on top^o^
love this game. i find it weirdly relaxing. probably due to how slow and methodical gameplay is combined with the atmosphere. and the calmer you are the easier it is too, as panicking leads to bad decisions lol

Some general tips for your first Dark Souls from me:
1. You can see what amount of each damage type is blocked by a shield if you go to the second stats screen (pressing Y).
2. Every spell has a limited amount of uses until you rest at a bonfire. This was changed back to FP in the following games (Ds2, Ds3, Eldenring)
just to add a little, the detailed stat view of equipment also tells you what build compliments a weapon. you can see how well any weapon scales with certain attributes (strength, dexterity, etc) so if you find a weapon you really like, you know what to level up to use it better!
After probably 700 accumulated hours in this game, I learned something today from watching somebody play for the very first time. I never knew that the black knights didn't get their positions reset on bonfire rest. I mean, it makes sense, since [game mechanic which I'll let you discover for yourself], but I never knew about that.
wow that was an incredible first run of undeadburg, I cannot wait to see what you make of the rest of the game
I really love your videos; you make it a truly lovely experience to share my favourite games with you. Thank you. Definitely looking forward to this, but no pressure; just enjoy it however you do, it's what we love best about you. We watch you for you, after all
Well well well looks like I found my next favorite RUclips series.
Amazing episode! Very excited to watch though this! You are doing great so far, especially for your first playthrough.
That was really weird that the Black Knight didnt reset after resting at the bonfire. That shouldn't have happened.
Anyways, some general non-spoiler tips that most newcomers to Dark Souls have trouble with if you want them:
She's a real gamer.
Beautiful game. Enjoy it. 😊
Amber: I cant believe how big that tree is.
Elden Ring: Hold my beer
This is absolutely the BEST 1st playthrough ever! Thank you for letting me relive my first time with Dark Souls.
I don't see that mentioned enough but the whole introduction/ Undead Asylum- the narration and the whole background has so much Lord of the Rings vibes. It's not just the "elves and dwarves" but the real spirit of what Lord of the Rings is.

They want you to use homeward bones for that reason lol but glad to see another person enjoying fromsoft games, really hope you have fun and go through all 3 games, it's quite the journey, and experience!
Love seeing you pop up in my feed again after watching your Outer Wilds playthrough, ESPECIALLY when its one of my favourite games of all time!
I love watching people play dark souls for the first time, it is so hilarious. And I'm no professional, it just brings me back to my first time ...
"What about the pygmy? What did he do?"
Ahhh, the furtive pygmy. So easily forgotten.....
Without any doubt, this game has the coolest lore. That intro always gets me emotional. It's just so freaking cool!
Oooooh YESSSS!!! Your Bloodborne playthrough introduced me to your channel, I am super excited for this! I hope you play the rest of Fromsoftware’s games!
Congratulations!
You started THE GAME.
I haven't played Dark Souls, it's never been something I thought I would enjoy, but it was certainly fun watching you experience it!
Just stumbled across this vid, love your playstyle and commentary. Subbed.
Subscribed right after you died for the first time, you're doing great! Laughed out loud later at trying to burn the crows nest. Loving the commentary and it's always a great time watching someone experience dark souls for the first time!
i love this game's intro, it's like "here's the story but we won't actually explain anything, good luck :)" and still awesome as hell
Yessssssssss so excited for you to experience this stone cold gaming classic! I loved how naturally you got into the exploration aspects of Bloodborne, and this promises so many treasures!
You're playing ten times better than me while also exploring the game world, assets, background imagery and item descriptions; and I love it!
