  • In this series I will take you through a step by step build of the Airfix 1/72 De Havilland Mosquito PRXVI kit.
Aimed at beginners, I hope to show lots of simple tips and tricks to boost the confidence of less experienced modellers, and to maybe add some polish for the more accomplished. Lots of detail, and yes, lots of talking! In part six I look at the construction of the wings, with the engine nacelles and undercarriage.

Nice work as always, the mossie is coming along nicely.
I was fortunate enough to get a commended award at Telford this year on my Mossie PR XVI, first time I've entered as well, so really chuffed!

I love your videos! So enjoyable to go along for the ride. Anybody who has really built plastic models knows exactly what your talking about. All your tips and heads up guidelines will definitely make us better modelers! Keep up the good work. Cheers!!!

Really good tips about the pre-painting. Looking forward to pressing on with mine again.

I use Tamiya tape for scribe guides too but I generally use 2-3 pieces stacked on top of each other. This gives enough of an edge where the scriber can safely run along with worry of it jumping. SMS are good paints though if that's matched to the post-war British Standard PRU Blue then it's technically the wrong shade for a wartime production PRU Blue. Not massively so and, as usual with paint/colour choices, so long as you're in the general ballpark I don't think it matters too much after weathering.

I’ve broken so many thin pieces clipping gates that I’ve started using photo etch saws 😅. Great series ! With you goading me on I may finally finish a kit! Thanks!

Being a beginner I thought I needed to primer everything but you don't seem to do that, just paint straight on the plastic. Do we not need to primer everything first then? Great videos Jen, I'm really learning lots 👍

The short answer is no, but I will of course talk about primer when we get to the painting part
