I stayed all the way to the end my friend, I just got a 1968 CT 90 with a similar issue. I just ordered parts and getting a new battery but I think that is what they probably will be. Thanks for the video.
@billyrthomson When I got the new battery and went to install it, I realized the customer had just forgot to hook up the wire coming from the rectifier when he install the battery before bringing the bike to me, once I fixed that with a new battery all was well. Here is the playlist on this bike: ruclips.net/p/PLICWLX3xQIRN0u7CxEsF_U6WAkk6ts9lD&feature=shared
Hi there, just wondering where you got the Route 66 wallpaper/curtain from which is at the start of your video. Asxa side note,i have an ST90 with similar problem. Thank you 😊
So. Did you get it fixed? It sounds like the alternator or rectifier aren't working or aren't hooked up to the battery. The positive terminal should have two connections. One to run the bike and the other from the rectifier.
Yes I figured it out, check out this video for explanation and test ride. The customer had the wires wrong. ruclips.net/video/Xbm-dwIq69g/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Liked and subbed, great info. I got an 83 ct110. Wouldn't run tore carb apart compressed air through every hole i could find. One small tube about 12 inch long is hanging off the carb i have zero idea where it goes and is not a vacuum hose according to closing it with thumb. New battery and it starts immediately first lightweight kick vroom. Idles forever. QUESTION, why on earth is my oil now filled with gasoline and gasoline backed up into the intake? Its running very rich but has plenty of GO. I can understand a faulty float (which is not leaking) causing the rich and the gas in the intake. But WHY on earth is my oil reservoir filled with gasoline? Id love yo hear what you and others have to say. I must be a die hard because i did watch the entire video 😂😊
@danthieman7858 the float is either sticking or wrong height adjustment and the fuel is overflowing the carburetors into the cylinder, past your rings and into the crankcase. Do not run the bike anymore until it is fixed, you will destroy the engine in more ways than 1. Make sure to shut your petcock off asap to stop this problem. The gas will also wash oil off cylinder and damage cylinder if you run the engine. Thanks for watching the entire video!🐲
Check that the battery load test if it can power just the headlight without running the bike for 5 minutes. If not, battery may be bad. Test to see if the rectifier is okay - modern bridge rectifiers are recommended as better than originals (and cheap). Finally, check if coil and condenser are okay. I have seen others replacing the coil with new Chinese coil that does not include a condenser, which seems to create these kind of problems with ongoing charging.
So far found the battery is toast for sure, I'm grabbing a new one and continuing testing. Thanks for watching 🐲 Also check out my Facebook business page facebook.com/profile.php?id=100057489818717&mibextid=ZbWKwL
Come to find out, the owner had the battery hooked up wrong, basically forgot the red wire coming from rectifier, so he was just running on the battery until the battery finally gave out. Check it out here: ruclips.net/video/Xbm-dwIq69g/видео.html
Install a new rectifier and this issue will be gone. Mine had same issue with the headlight etc... once I installed a new rectifier those problems disappeared.
No, it was easier than that, my customer had the new battery hooked up wrong. That's all it was the whole time. He asked me to do a carb clean on it because "that's what it was the last time"...it was running rough so I went ahead and did that for him, and it still ran rough, that's when I figured it out. Here is the final video:ruclips.net/video/Xbm-dwIq69g/видео.htmlfeature=shared
My battery has a fool proof connection only goes one way. Customer must have lost that connector at one point. Gosh the things we miss or assume about fixing this kind of stuff. I would have missed that also.
Correct, I discovered the customer didn't even have the wire from the regulator hooked to the battery. But this job began with him bringing me a carb kit to rebuild the carb, because he insisted that's what it was the last time. He is in his 70's and it sits for long periods of time. So I did what he asked, then when he realized that wasn't it, he then let me do my diagnosis as usual...😁 Here is the playlist of this job: ruclips.net/p/PLICWLX3xQIRN0u7CxEsF_U6WAkk6ts9lD&feature=shared Thanks for watching 🐲
You are real close, the owner had replaced the battery and did not hook it up correctly, so it was not charging and just running off the battery until it died. You can see that video here:ruclips.net/video/Xbm-dwIq69g/видео.html Thanks for watching 🐲

@danthieman7858 oh, the small is either a bowl vent if its on side of carb, or overflow tube if it's on the bottom, run them accordingly.

The charging system is not working instead it's draining the battery

Bad rectifier if turning on the head light kills the engine.
