THE DRAGON
Добавлен 5 апр 2012
Just an old gearhead sharing content and the struggles of trying to make a living wrenching on things. Mostly self taught, my experience comes from necessity, having to repair my own vehicles over the many years. I also always had a passion for figuring out how to get things running again. Nowadays a person can simply just look on the internet to find all the info about a repair or how to get something running, but I never had that convenience, I just had to figure it out on my own. Also my late father was a big influence, of course I didn't realize that until later in life, he always wrenched on his own bikes, and even painted them his self. He rode Harley's and was in a few clubs, so there were always bikers around when I was a kid. Motorcycles are my passion with Muscle Cars being a quick second, but I love any performance oriented.

I did a frame off restore about five years ago . Absolutely great bike one of my favorite bikes.
@gadget1473 I agree these bikes are some of my favorites as well, I have had many of them through the years, many of them I brought back from the dead, and I can almost always count on them coming to life easily and running great. Very capable bikes too, lots of power and excellent handling leading to an awesome ride. Thanks for watching and commenting 🐲
Hello i have z1000 2015 mine has milky oil in these freeze days i started my bike in coolrant there was only water without antifreeze i run bike for max 10 min did not go anywhere then after 1 day when i checked oil it was full white like milky also when i try add water in coolrant it comes from engine down from where u change oil what can be damaged should i open engine ? What can u say from experience
@Kenzoo4 if your sure it froze, then something probably did crack, usually in the head. I'm not real familiar with the make up of that engine, so I'm not sure if it has freeze plugs in the head or not, but that's one of the first places I would look.
Awesome bike!
It was actually still running when dropped off.
Hey, my grandfather has one of these that isn't running and we aren't sure why. Is there a way to contact you for some help to get it running?
@slconcerts3497 I'm tough to get a hold of these days due to the high demand for my services, I am extremely busy but I will do what I can for you. Here is my info: facebook.com/profile.php?id=100057489818717&mibextid=ZbWKwL
@thedragon2299 I sent you a bit of a lengthy message lol, but thank you and anything is helpful really.
Looks great and the blue is sharp.
@@iangordon972 Thanks, I thought so as well. Check out the full video here: ruclips.net/video/SBvyx5ms0Bc/видео.htmlfeature=shared Thanks for watching and commenting 🐲
Nice job on restoring that bike, I'm a little more fond of the 1984 , only because the smaller front wheel looks better, It's been said it wasn't great when cornering. any thoughts on that.
@jaxsonbrn I have a 84' and 85' here sitting next to each other and they both have 19" front wheels on them, so I'm not aware of a difference size wheel. These are some of my favorite bikes though. Just an all around great bike with the best of both worlds.
@@thedragon2299 yep, no difference in wheels between 84 and 85 (or 83)...only difference is the side graphics are different between those 2 years. 83 has unique kill switch and choke but same graphics as 84.... 85 shares kill switch and choke with 84 but has different side graphics.
@stevefletcher2334 thanks for responding with the info! Much appreciated! These bikes are just awesome if you ask me!
@@thedragon2299 couldn't agree more! I was in high school when these were new and I always wanted one...finally bought one 2 years ago. Great looking, good power, nice ride....and it's a Honda!
@stevefletcher2334 Congrats! for some reason when I started buying and selling bikes, I would always come across nighthawk 650's. Buy em cheap not running, clean carbs and they would always fire right up and run awesome. I fell in love with them. Great power with a good handling feel to them. I often find myself pushing them to their limits when I'm on one because they just beg me for it😅
I have an identical one same motor. Put Lucas oil treatment and 10W-30 in it and it will quiet right down. Mine sounds no where near that bad and when it did tick it was only the first 20 secs or so.
@willieb.hardigan5780 I'm still daily driving this thing. Some days it doesn't tick at all and some days it sounds like it's going to blow up, but most days it ticks some. I have tried everything, all grades/weights of oil, tried Lucas, marvel mystery oil, you name it, it doesn't change ticking at all. It has a mind of its own. I currently run Rotella 15-40 which seems to be the quietest. But I have to say, besides the ticking it runs like a top! Currently have 190,000 miles on it. I had big plans to do a bunch of work on it, but it's been so damn reliable I just keep running it as is for now.
Great Video!🐲
common of road
Thats a nice piece of history right there. I wish people valued things the way they used to but it would be nice if the companies made them to last longer than just the warranty.
@bobbygilljr4153 I totally agree. I don't know how many times a week I say, "they don't make em' like they use to". That's basically what I do here at Dragon Worx, I revive them and then keep em' on the road. Thanks for watching 🐲 👍
That's awesome 💯😎
@@peterpico1507 Isn't it cool! I had never even heard of a Simplex until the customer showed up with it. Thanks for watching and commenting 🐲

Wow! Amazing build!
@ginabeth1013 Thanks Sugar Britches😋
Watching this almost 10 years later. Lol Good info! Thanks for the video.
@mikehunt3987 at the time I couldn't find any info about this on the internet, so once I figured it out, I decided to share it. Glad it could help. I'm still wrenching on bikes, got a little better now😅. Thanks for watching and commenting 🐲 appreciate ya!
This was an awesome burnout!
This is one sweet bike right here. Been working on it off and on for years and its finally coming to completion. Hope to have it done for the Spring. Stay tuned!🐲
That is a nice bike!! You built it right!!
@BigBuckGetter Thanks bud! Appreciate that. It's been good hearing from ya lately! Thanks for hanging in with me all these years. After the 1st of the year, I hope to start stepping up the quality of the videos and growing my channel more. 🐲
@ I don’t always comment, but I watch’em all. You are a great mechanic and your editing skills have definitely improved since the early days.
@BigBuckGetter Thanks again! Way back in the day, I didn't even edit videos. Once I started editing it opened a whole new world. I have been using a free editor forever, and now they keep limiting what features I can use. So hopefully soon, I'm going to get a quality editor app, and get some better cameras. Hopefully start drawing more viewers to my channel, that's also why I been pumping out more video and Shorts to get more attention, so don't mind me if you see repeat stuff or too many videos in a day. I will most likely start adding some different content as well to break it up abit. I would like to grow the channel more. Once again thanks for watching all through the years!
Love the 2 tone paint jobs from this era. Excellent job.
@philmcqueen4659 I totally agree about the paint jobs back then. Thanks, I really appreciate the positive feedback as well! Thanks for watching 🐲
I will have to look at mine (1977) that it won't stay running after about a min. too. Of course I found that from carb. to throat was not tight so that doesn't help, but still my instincts are telling me what you are showing. Thanks for video. My channel: Wildman RG3
@wildman3541 yeah, they don't like to run with a bad battery, or if the charging system isn't charging. See if that's your problem. Thanks for watching and commenting 🐲
@thedragon2299 No problem. I have Brand new Rectifier for starters on the way. With a weak spark going to change out condenser & points is well. Who do you recommend for that? Would like OEM Honda genuine parts....Partzilla?
@wildman3541 Partzilla is pretty good, here is your oem parts, can by them here, or get the correct part number and search the best price: www.hondapartshouse.com/oemparts/l/hon/5053db0cf870021c54bd9ca3/1977-ct90a-trail-90-parts
@wildman3541 when you can't find parts anywhere these guys usually have them: www.cmsnl.com/honda-ct90_model228/
I have a question for you I have everything reinstalled on my gsxr 750 but when I prime my fuel pump it sound like it isn’t priming properly almost as if there’s air in the system the only code that I see pop up is f1 what could this mean
@Maine.1500 yes itcould be airlock, meaning there is air in the system somewhere, but that is rare, but if you been working on it, then its possible. You may have to loosen a fitting near the injectors to let air out. Make sure you have gas in the tank.
@@Maine.1500 does the bike start at all?
@ could the throttle body not being fully seated cause something like this
The clicking I hear is coming from the throttle body and the fuel pump is even priming anymore could this be because of the tip sensor ?
@ no I just installed this motor
This project is going to be so nice! Great Video!
👃👃👃ahhhhh thats the stuff
@Tribudo yes indeed, smelled wonderful! Thanks for checking it out!🐲
Congrats! Now on to the next 5000!

I can smell it, hell yeah homie
I walked in the door that night and my wife said what stinks...I said Hell Yeah!
❤whooooop!
These bikes are legendary. There are some years where they had a more powerful motor than the YZ of that year. Hard to find these days
@Lowspirit_aaron it was a beast, I ride alot of different 2 strokes, even just rode a RM250 with 265cc big bore and that Suzuki didn't hit no where as hard as this WR250Z! Thanks for watching and commenting 🐲
Those wheels aren't tapered though and the nubs on 200X hubs prevent the DID wheels I have from seating all the way.
Those wheels were tapered just as I stated in the video. Not sure what you have and why it's not working, but this is a swap that's been done for years and years. Good luck and thanks for watching 🐲
Hello.. I just bought a 1986 Bayou 185, REALLY IN NEED of HELP.. The list would be in Volumes, was the Foreman's ride on a HUGE Texas Ranch about 11,500 acres. Even the Wiring was breaking off of the Engine Grommets hahaha. I am needing a couple of Items Fuel Tank, Handlebar Top Console Cover and Tool Box Lid. This old thing has been rode hard and put away wet!!
@ArthurNetteler well you got a tough one there, these bikes are hard to find parts for, most parts are discontinued. Here is the parts diagram so you can at least find the correct part number then Google the part to see if anyone has it. Most likely you can find some used parts on ebay or something. Good luck and Thanks for watching 🐲 www.kawasakipartshouse.com/oemparts/l/kaw/50a6392bf870022c14fc493a/1986-bayou-185-klf185-a2-parts
@@thedragon2299 ... Ya I know. I sold Kawasaki's from 1982 until 1996. I was Owner of Hayden Motor Sports in N.E. Texas. We had Honda & Suzuki at the Center, Texas location, and Kawasaki & H-D at the Tyler, Texas Store. My Trucking Company (Kim-Net Express) and Electronics Company (Nu_Way Electronics 3 locations) in St. Louis got so big that I had no time for the others. My ALTIME Favorite 2 ATV's were the '80's Honda ATC110 & the 1982 & Up Kawasaki KLT200, I sold more than 400 of these Bikes to Ranchers & Oil Men back then. The ATC110 could be loaded into a pickup by one guy, and the KLT200 had the first ever Differential, no more sliding the front tire, especially when pulling a trailer..
Dude you are amazing! Lost all electrical power after replacing a headlight fuse. On my 05 roadstar with 17k miles too😂 Thanks for the video🤝 We got power!
@Yaro.DK350z Glad it could help you! Thanks for watching and commenting 🐲
Beautiful motorcycle, I'm passively looking to own one soon. Do we have to use Non-ethanol gas on these gold wings?
@vijaymenon5738 That's great, you will most certainly enjoy it. Yes non-ethanol for these machines. Especially if it's going to sit for periods at a time. If I'm on a road trip and going through a few tanks, then I will just run anything, but if I'm just riding occasionally around town I keep it filled with ethanol free. Thanks for watching and commenting 🐲
Get a good look at the Ugly, I'm about to make it disappear!🐲
Awesome bike and awesome video🐲
I have that exact same bike. It had not run for over 37 years. I got it running well and put a few thousand miles on it and then the carb/s started to flood. That was last summer. I have not been able to solve this flooding problem yet. :(
@grabir01 Yeah I've had that same problem with these carbs on several different goldwings, just kept trying different things on each one until I got it. Even this one has a carb that will do it occasionally for no reason. I do find that it usual stops after you actually get some miles on the road, it's like the float needles seat in. Good luck, the more you pull and replace the carbs the better and faster you get at it😉😯
@@thedragon2299 K thx.
Very nice, thanks for sharing
@h.wayneb3495 Thanks appreciate it! Appreciate you watching and commenting too! 🐲
Just found the same thing on an 86 I just brought home. Water pump impeller froze against the case. These 80s CRs are notorious for corrosion on account of the magnesium clutch cover.
@TurbodanNM Crazy, thought for sure the piston was seized in the cylinder. Blew my mind when I found this.
This is a great video🐲
This is a great bike and a great video!🐲
That's what happens when you rev the f*** out of it and at the same time do not change the oil.
did you have to open up the calipers to get the pads in easier, im having a hard time with that any tips?
@korywatson8183 most of the time you do have to open calipers on any vehicle to install new pads because they are thicker. Big C clamp works wonders for this, can get one at harbor Freight cheap. They make special tools to do it, but you would have to order that, or sometimes auto zone will rent out tools. The crude way is...while the caliper and old pads are still on the rotor you can use a prybar/screwdriver to pry them open wider before removing pads. But becareful not to scratch your rotor up doing it. You don't always have to, but you might need to open the bleeder for the piston to retract. If the vehicle has been sitting a long time, or it's been years since the brake pads have been changed, it's possible the pistons are froze up slightly and won't retract at all, then you have to replace or rebuild them.
@ okay thanks yeah cause the new pads are pretty big and won’t just slide in, thought I would have to unbolt the calipers from each other to open it completely up. Thanks again
Very nice! Had one just like it. Installed S&W fork internals and heavy duty shocks and transformed the handling. Very sorry that I sold it.
I have one my rake is "stupid " but goppity gopity, Mfs looking for the bike n front wheel just coming around the corner lol😅
There's parts available online. Eclectic availability but they are OE parts. I was helping a friend fix up an old Harley scooter a few yrs back.
@fireballsoutherner yeah we have found some good sources, I ordered a bunch of stuff, some has come in already. Next I'm going to pull motor apart, check bearings and seals, ect. Clean it up to show quality and rebuild it. Thanks for watching and commenting 🐲
You may feel cylinder compression, but you could be losing crankcase compression. The "rebuild" was a hone job and the crank seals are original.
@puttputt73 it did have 110psi when I checked it, which isn't great, but supposed to be good for these to run. That's why I kept trying to start it. Before we had a weak spark, so I thought I since we now have good spark I would try again, but the carb wasn't having it. Not wasting any more time, just going to pull it all apart and rebuild it and the carb. Thanks for watching and commenting 🐲
Thank you, yes that's how I came up with my NOS throttle cables, they were expensive but worth it to me.
I totally understand that.
