This guy is ABSOLUTELY right. Guys, just go with the Ford mount on the engine side. I've done this job with aftermarket mounts, and they're nowhere near as good. The Ford one I believe is hydraulic and most (all?) others are solid rubber. Did the Ford one on sister's Focus and the difference was night and day, even though the aftermarket one I removed wasn't old and still looked in good condition. And the inserts that you have to bend the bracket into the aluminum casting? I just threw a brand new one I had in the basement in the trash. You can get the factory ones for much cheaper than the dealer, but still from the dealer. Search OEM Pro Parts or something like that. Ford has a deal with online companies. You get the part much cheaper online, and pick it up at a local dealer or you can have it shipped. e.g. I got the CAD $130-150 mount from the dealer for CAD $95 + tax picked up. They wouldn't give me the same deal if I bought it straight from the dealer. Crazy, but whatever.
I bought all three mounts as a set on Amazon for $70 in early 2024. swapped them out with a floor. Jack and a few handtools, took an hour and 15 minutes working casually. The car feels like it’s brand new.
I just installed the 3rd passenger side motor mount and the other two just once in the 130.000 miles. If changing it again in the future i will try the OEM mount. Nice video thanks for sharing.
I Bought a 2005 focus with a lot of shakes mostly in idle and in drive waiting at a red light. I just changed my transmission side mount with an after-market one. The shaking has improved a lot. Next, I will do the torque mount to see if there is any further improvement. The engine side looks brand new and is OEM with a ford sticker on it.
Great info, I've replaced the main mount on my focus and as you say, the aftermarket mount doesn't last long. Also, the steering pump whine is like the filter in the reservoir, another common Focus problem.
A video of you showing the vibration before and after wouldve been cool. I'm not sure if I'm over reacting with the vibrations or not. Supposedly the motor mounts in the one I bought had been replaced, and the vibrations literally just started for me the last 2 weeks.
If you swap all mounts and it feels worse you have another problem causing the vibrations mine was half the main crank pulley ( which is an dampener) and the gearbox ! Changed pulley it got halted changed gearbox as had a stiff gear one and now NO vibrations And I’m using aftermarket mounts… but that was my problem now car is a dream to drive 💪🏽
If you own one of these or later 08-11, it is worth your while to learn how to do this. These cars can last a long time if cared for, but the engine mounts, sway bar links, and valve cover gaskets are all weak points. Fortunately, the car will "tell" you when those parts are going out and won't leave you stranded. I have 167k on my '10 and its gonna need its 3rd right side mount soon. I can tell... Still a good car. Reliable, paid for, not expensive to keep on the road- my favorite kind of car.
I just ordered mounts for my 2007 Focus. I ponied up $105 and got the passenger mount from a Ford dealer. I went with Anchor for the other 2, $20 a piece.
i replaced all three with aftermarket, using just the insert for the passenger side mount. the car had 88k miles at the time. now the focus is smooth as new. i'll let you know how long they last, by update.
@@datwinz3927 replace all three. take pictures of the passenger side top mount before disassembly to see how it fits back. i only bought the rubber isolator so it need to fit into the old mount...good luck. my focus is an 07 automatic four door sedan ses. you will still need to isolate a lot of other components, in particular the exhaust system and it's shields. after all that it is very quiet.
I'm sure the OEM is a better part but FYI Amazon has decent 3rd party mounts for ~$15 and only 15 minutes to replace it if you are a DIY er... I drive my 2008 Focus daily and the 3rd party mount lasts about 15K miles. I bought the car with about 75K and the original OEM mount needed to be replaced then, so do the math and decide whats best for you. :)
Hydraulic oil on rubber... what could go wrong? Love the Focus but these are more planned obsolescence crap just like the lifetime air filters.. Polyurethane mounts is a much better option.
New OEM passenger side mounts for the 2005-2011 Focus are nowhere to be found, as Ford has seemed to discontinue them. So the question is, are there any decent aftermarkets? There are hydraulic aftermarkets.

My son has changed amounts on his focus numerous times over the last two years this car absolutely eats motor mounts don't buy crappy mounts from RockAuto or anybody else buy them directly from Ford they're going to cost more but they're going to last. It's a shame nobody makes a good urethane Mount or something a little more solidly constructed. I guess you're a thing wouldn't be the best choice but cuz it's still going to vibrate but probably not as bad and the a mount will last
that one bolt on the chassis that you were feeling was kinda not tightening anymore, mine is stripped to oblivion and its impossible to remove too it infinitely spins, what makes it worse is I've tried loosening it from the top an pushing it up from the fenderwell but its just stuck in place. do you know how i could remove it? I'm thinking drilling it out and making brand new threads OR using a bolt and a nut with washers on the bottom
i bought a 07 focus 2l for autox and the dude jacked the engine up under the trans engine connection and it sets slanted now. i thought there was some oil under the left front tire. any idea what this might from?

go with OEM for the torque one as well. Used after market on all three, two failed and I got OEM main one and torque and all is good again.
