    Thank you very much! I just replaced the passenger side motor mount on my wife's 2010 Focus at 86k miles like the one you replaced in this video and the difference is incredible!!! She literally asked me "did my car start?" when she turned the key because literally 90% of all the vibration was GONE! $132.xx plus tax at my local ford dealership but it was worth every penny! I replaced it myself by the way in just a little over 15 minutes...

    Finally got around to changing the passenger side mount.. and the difference is like night and day! My focus feels like it's literally gliding when it drives, it's soo smooth. I had to watch this video again today to gain the confidence to do the job and it took me about 45 minutes. Thanks again for the informative video!

      +DaPaRappa I've been thinking about doing mine, but I don't feel too good about putting a jack under my oil pan. So, it wasn't too bad then?

    • @DashPadGames
      @DashPadGames 8 лет назад +1

      psychotogen1 Yeah it wasn't bad at all. Just make sure you have a nice sized block of wood to put on the jack under the engine oil pan. I jacked it up slowly because I was scared, but it does spread the weight out making it easier to lift the engine.

      @@FordTechMakuloco You're AWESOME!! LOVE your videos!! My mom has a 2011 Focus SE. Always doing the work on it when it needs it. She has the same problem. I am pretty sure it's the motor mount. If it is, should the driver's side mount be changed too? I am just thinking about changing things in pairs like suspension parts. Thanks in advance...👍😁
      UPDATE ...The mount(s) seem fine. I think it's her muffler. It did have a few small leaks on it on one end of it. I patched them up but a s***load of water came out of it. I think it's shot inside. Rusted from inside out. Should I buy an OEM muffler from Ford or are the aftermarket ones just as good? Thanks in advance....👍😁

    I used a paint pen because a little brake clean and it come off, but a sharpie marker will do also. The anti roll mount is underneath center backside of the engine, mounts by where the trans and engine meet looks like a figure 8. Rocks get stuck behind it where it mounts to subframe. I would check this out first as it happens primarily in reverse when the engine torque loads the mount rearward. Search for tsb 8-5-6

      Got the mount from Oreilly. It looks a little different. The brackets are a bit different on bottom even though the holes are an exact fit. I actually had to file a little off the bracket closest to valve cover it was almost top snug making the studs too angled. Just fyi if you get the oreilly one. $112. Great vid runs a whole lot smoother once installed

    Thank you for listing the torque amounts. Mine was rattling so bad it cracked the windshield. The mount was disintegrated into two separate pieces. WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Simple job! A note of difference from all the other videos I have seen, including yours.....My passenger motor mount stand did not have a 6th bolt underneath. Mine was removed by removing a metal subpost(like Tom Crawford below).
    Altogether, A simple procedure, and it runs so quietly now! I got my replacement piece for $20 bucks from a parts wholesaler(I never pay retail). Thanks man!

    I dreaded the day I'd have to do this because I'm so scared of putting a jack under my engine to lift it. But it does look like an easy job. I'll be doing mine this Sunday. The only thing that differs in this video is my coolant reservoir has to be moved aside since the overflow and coolant tank is all one unit in the 2005. Engine mount is exactly the same from what I've seen. I'll be so happy once that vibration is gone.

    Did this replacement today and OMG! what a difference. I replaced the driver side mount first thinking it was the culprit. But even after that, when I would open the two back doors both of them shook violently! along with the steering wheel, and everything else in the cabin. Even the battery shook after the driver side mount was replaced. So I was confused as to how it could be the passenger side since the battery was directly over the other mount! But, NOPE, I replaced this passenger side mount and It took "ALL" the shaking away. The car shifts better too! Man what a difference. Best 100 bucks I ever spent! (Not really, But its up there!) Thank you for the informative video. I hope this brings sanity to anyone looking to solve this issue.
    BTW, The initial test you recommended by slightly lifting the engine to relieve pressure on the mount was my green light that is was probably that passenger mount!!
    Happy Holidays.

    Fantastic Video - thank you very much for this fine guidance !
    Today I changed this mount on my Ford C-MAX, 1,8 petrol, Trend from 2004. I have been driving with vibration issues for more than 3 years. My Ford service changed the button mount for about 1 year ago, but no big difference. Today I therefore changed the upper right mount myself. I used a Febi Bilstein mount, Germany quality, WHAT A DIFFERENCE - I HAVE A NEW CAR NOW, allmost. All vibration problems are gone now, it´s absolutely fantastic, I have forgotten how much comfort the car had before. There was no visual defects on the old mount, but I can se a small difference after mounting. The engine is about an half centimeter higher in the right side now, so the old mount just lost its strength over time.
    All the best from a happy dane ...

    @Mardy Crue. I have the same vehicle as you, and when I was test driving it from the dealership I purchased it from, it had the exact same issues as yours. The problem was this side engine mount was leaking fluid. I made them replace all the mounts with OEM before I made the deal and it fixed the issue. Unfortunately, OEM is the only way to go for that particular engine mount because it contains fluid and the aftermarket ones are cheaply made and don't have the required fluid if any at all.

    • @Jonathan-L
      @Jonathan-L 6 лет назад

      Is it reasonable to say that the engine mount fails due to fluid leakage? So, if the mount doesn't leak, then it should remain in good order?

    I just kept putting up with the rattling and noise getting louder and louder, but it was getting out of hand. I inspected the mount and it appeared that the oil had come out and it was worn badly, so I decided to replace it. Like other users have stated, it is staggering the difference this makes. Its so quiet I cant hear it now, and its very smooth as well. Great instructions, save yourself a few hundred dollars and do this job yourself.
    I was told to get the part from the ford dealership though, they said the aftermarket parts wont be near as good and you definitely want to stay away from the 'solid rubber' ones.

    Great video. I think you may have helped me diagnose my U.S spec 2010 Transit Connect van with the Focus engine and mounts. Van only has about 36k and the problem started a while back. Vibration is noticeable at all times. Most noticeable through the gas pedal. Tried jacking the engine up and the vibration went away. Hopefully it's the passenger side mount. I'm hoping Ford will pick up the tab as I complained about the vibration and have it in writing well before the warranty was up.

    So I went out and bought this part made in USA for $180 CAD, did the change thanks to your instructions, and the results are great. Huge reduction in annoying vibrations, but I still feel a small vibration and I think it's coming from the Transmission Insulator mount under the battery box. When taking the tranny mount out, where should i support with hydraulic jack. engine or transmission. Quite sure shop manual still shows the support beam over the engine area, but vertically.

    Hi,
    You've helped me in the past. I had a 2000 focus that went through three coils. You told me me about a potential wire grounding, and you were 100% right. Two strands of wire were left and were grounding on egr tube. Thanks!
    My question is about your parts link on this video. When I click it, it brings up is a dea mount. When I look on a Ford parts site, the price is significantly different.
    Should I purchase part from dealer? If not, should I stick to dea manufacture only? In the past, I have had the best luck with dealer parts, but they are just so much more costly.
    Thanks in advance for your great advice, experience, and insights.

    The Ford engineers that designed the mounts on this car shouldn't be allowed to design a lawnmower. I have replaced the passenger side twice now on an 07 2.0L and the car doesn't even have 100k yet. My Corolla has 220k and have never even had to think about the motor mounts.

    Here is some great advise from an FF 5 time owner. When replacing the right MM, do nor scrimp out on quality. Buy a Motorcraft part, not the cheap knock offs. Mostly made by Anchor, China made junk. The Anchor will work fine for 7,000 miles then vibrations will return. Save yourself the extra time of replacing the mount a second time. JMO.

    Maybe someone else has come across this , replaced two engine mounts back to back and they both sit down on the mount and the vibration continues it's like they're the wrong height

    I have a 2011 Ford Fusion with just under 49,000 miles on it. I brought it into Ford service 2 weeks ago when I notice the steering wheel started shaking and the engine sounding like it was racing, and a lot of cracking/squeaking sounds coming from what sounded like the engine. after keeping the car for three days they said they couldn't duplicate the issue I described and told me the suspension/alignment etc basically everything checked out. After a week of having my car back, I was still experiencing the same symptoms, I just dropped it off again yesterday and Kevin my service advisor called and said that they needed to replace the engine and transmission mounts. My question is this, My car has never been in an accident, Is this normal for a 2011 Ford fusion with just 48K+ miles to have both engine and transmission mounts go bad? Thanks for any advice :)P.S. I also notice a funny odor coming from the heater since everything started happening.

      +Rebecca Janke I have seen the right hand mount separate and cause vibration issues yes but yours being so new and of such low mileage I highly doubt it. Is this the 2.5L? At any rate I think they are throwing parts at it at this point only have them replace the right hand mount and be sure to inspect the condition of the lower dogbone mount for wear and or debri grounding it out.

    Excellent video, and thanks to this I will change my own. However the link to Amazon for the part seems to be in error. Got mine ordered from eBay. Oddly enough I'm kind of excited to work on my car.

    I had Autozone run the parts. They show two passenger side mounts for the 2007 Ford Focus. One called Front Passenger Side Mount and the other Rear Passenger Side Mount. There is also a third mount on Driver's side on the bottom. You are referencing only one Passenger side Mount, AND I see only ONE on my car, and it looks like the one you changed.
    Can you give a little more insight on this? Good video, by the way; most vids like this are not so good.

    After removing the old mount, would this provide an opportunity to more easily replace the belt? I’m at 103,000 miles so I’m probably due for changing the belt as well. Thanks 👍🏻

    if this mount is bad, will the VIBRERATION smooth out at 75plus? (higher speeds than 73 anyhow) or is that a different ''balancer'' or something??

    thank you for this video I really wish you would have did it aerial view of the components under the hood while the wood was in place because I couldn't see it. you may have tried but the wood was not visible when u panned back. I was only able to see the wood when u showed a close up but I would like to see it from far back so I can get an overall full view

      I saw a video for that one it's underneath the battery box it looks extremely simple to do and remove just make sure you lightly support the transmission just like what he did with the oil pan

    I don't know much about cars but when I put my car in revers my car shakes like crazy and it's embarrassing . Is it the bottom motor mount ?

    • @FordTechMakuloco
      @FordTechMakuloco  10 лет назад

      It can be the lower dogbone mount but the right hand engine mount as shown in video is most common and can happen in drive or reverse.

    "The torque spec on these is 66 foot pounds" -immediately uses 500 foot pound impact wrench to tighten the bolts. That was hilarious 😂

    I really enjoy your videos and the work you do, you are very informative and helpful !!! With that said, I absolutely don't like the way you use your influence to make people believe that they should only buy oem products, there are many after market products that are just as good and even better than the original Ford parts !!! there are many after market products that are inferior and perhaps that's why you recommend them but OEM isn't the only solution !!! With proper research you can differentiate between the two !!!

      If there is an aftermarket product I would certainly suggest it, Have you seen all the videos on the Melling brand oil pumps? In this case and most other cases nothing but OEM should be used this is the voice of experience not personal preference.

    I'm about to do this job on my Focus and I'm really scared about lifting the engine by the oil pan. Isn't it fragille? I have all the tools and I do a lot of jobs on my car but never changed a mount.I'll try it soon.

    What is the size for the studs. I have done this repair before on a 2003. I learned that day, you might as well change all 3 mounts and get it over with.

    I replaced the hydraulic mount and it got rid of 75% of my vibration issue. I then did the roll restrictor and it was 90% better and got rid of a nasty clunk, then I Changed the belt and that about killed the vibration

      I think he's referring to the lower rear engine mount that has a TSB for adding a shield kit to a replacement mount to prevent road debris from getting at it and destroying it.

    What was the part number to order this mount as a complete part? Using the part fitment guide (link you provided) it only showed me the part with rubber and not the other metal part needed to attach to the frame. I want to remove the old one and replace with new one.

    Thanks for the video. I had the same issue on my 2004 focus zx5. I took it to the dealer and fixed it, it feels like new now. They also checked the brakes and found a damaged thread on the rear spindle. They suggested to replace both rear spindles down the road. Would you recommend buying OEM spindles? Or aftermarket ones are good enough?

  • @coilover2005

    I'm hoping this is the issue with my girlfriends 2014 Focus. Bought it brand new and besides the transmission issue most people are complaining about, (we have that too) The vibrations in the car are like nothing I've ever experienced before. You can drive down the street at 20mph and it sounds like you're driving a tank! We literally don't leave change in the car because it rattles so bad. Road trips are almost unbearable because you can't hear each other over the sounds in the car. I just found it hard to believe the motor mounts would be bad after 2 years but after seeing this it's possible. Thanks for the vid.

    I know this has been a while but Im going to try and change my 2008 ford focus. Motor mounts...i have a few questions 1. When I do the lower mount on drivers side I can natually jack up the car right to be able to get under the car and if so do i jack the car up normally and then have a 2nd jack to put under the engine ? And 2 the one on the passenger side do u actually put the wood and jack under the oil pan itself is it strong enough not to bend the oil pan ?
