Thank you for another excellent video. Could you perhaps make an in depth video on the roll and evolution of aerodynamics in the WRC, from the 2000cc era from the late 2000s, to the 2013-2016 era; and of course the 2017 to 2021, and 2022 to present day eras? It's such a fascinating topic, since aerodynamics isn't thought of as being as synonymous with rallying as it is with track racing, of course. Your research is always so impeccable I really think you could make the definitive video of the evolution of aerodynamics in the sport. Another area I'd like to see covered is differentials and its roll and evolution, as these have also greatly changed and evolved - or sometimes devolved - through the eras. Cool that Rally2 is essentially a direct evolution from the R5 class, the continuation of a successful formula. Neat cars that are just what I like: an added performance flair to everyday cars, making them fast and efficient without transforming their shapes beyond recognition. However, they're still a bit too expensive to purchase and run outside the big centers, so would be nice to have a feature on regional AWD classes that were created to cover that gap at the top of many national championships.
@@kidpagronprimsank05 Yeah, i mixed up the info there. Thanks for the heads up, that's my bad. Though regarding an entry level AWD rally car, aren't the GR Yaris Iberian Cup basically that? They're pretty much a stock GR Yaris which already has an AWD system but they put roll cages & upgrading the transmission, diff, & suspension. The car was priced around €60,000-70,000.
I think Rally 2 is ideal for aspiring drivers & teams who wants to go to WRC. It's the perfect step before WRC. I hope many countries would also host this series not only in Europe. Its should be in various continent so that there would be future talented drivers coming from different places not only France, Findland, Germany or other parts of Europe. On the other hand, I'm fine with the move of WRC did going to hybrid. Everbody actually doing it now. As long as the cars still sounds good, faster than before & fun to drive. I just wonder why they held back their Aerodynamic development. For a top tier Rally Racing like WRC, it should better be up there in terms of Technology & Aero.
Initially, there would be a seventh manufacturer with a Rally2 alredy done before even the category was announced by the FIA. That car is the Renault Clio Rally2, but some "bad corporate decisions" made this car only a failed project. Such a shame.
I wish rally would return to the it’s origins and have to be basically stock. I own a Lancer Evolution X, the best production rally car ever made. I want to watch a race that I see my car race and it makes manufacturers make cars I can buy with extreme performance. Why do I want to watch cars I can’t own. Force manufacturers to build productions car, full rally spec. Sequential gear box, long travel rally suspension, fresh air anti lag, keep interiors simple, good seats, high watt radio, heat and a/c. I don’t need fancy stuff. Just stuff to make it livable. People say oh they drive terrible. They don’t actually, and if someone don’t like it, go buy a car that id more soft. That’s my opinion!
Agreed! It would be great to see rally cars that are close to the road version but with a few upgrades. Group A cars actually got up to 400 horsepower.
The production car is basically just to provide the basic shape, but they change quite a bit from bigger fenders and aero pieces, front splitters, bit rear wings, larger grill openings, etc. So the production car is more of a suggestion lol.
Another reason for it being so different is that Rally1 cars have standardized safety cells to cut down costs. This basically means that all the cars have the same roll cages, and since the regulations don't require that Rally1 car must share its body shell with the road car, the teams can basically build a new bodyshell to fit the given roll cage. I think Hyundai and Toyota didn't really need to change the original shape, but M-Sport did (the safety cell didn't fit in the original Puma properly).
Good point! Technically they could put a shell of any of their cars on top. So Ford could shrink down the F-150 and have a truck if they really wanted to lol
WRC 1 cars are restricted to 380hp combined with a 134hp hybrid unit is aprox 514hp total , however The hybrid unit can only provide the 134hp for a limited time. So no the cars don’t have 500hp continuously. They have bursts limited to how much energy there is left in the hybrid unit.
Badly, even on tarmac. While Group B are undoubtedly much more powerful, and lighter. They are barely able to drive, and handling is biggest priority in rally, not power
I think I've heard they managed to get around 290hp out of the cars with the FIA mandated restrictor. Either way, not sure it would change much. Plus, let's not forget, Rally1 cars only have around 380hp, they have 500hp only with the hybrid boost, which isn't available all the time, and due to the absence of paddle shifters, more advanced aero and centre differentials, they're actually slower than the last generation WRC cars. I'd also say it could be going against the limited cost philosophy, since increasing the power would cause the engine to wear more quickly, increasing servicing costs. I don't think it's really worth it for the rather small increase in power.
What was the reasoning behind limiting aero and the center diffierential in rally1? I could understand cost capping measures in the support classes, but it struck me as odd to do that at the pinnacle of rally. It literally makes the cars less sideways and Larry through the turns, which is a huge facet and spectacle of this racing discipline. Does anyone know what their rationale behind this regression was?

And every team should keep 2 car pair team with salary cap so top team won't buy from driver while toyota had 4 rest had 2 or 3 it to easy for toyota 2 win manufacturers construction points aswell. It might help other manufacturers possible joining in wrc
Audi
Suzuki
Peugeot
renault

mitsubish
🤷♂️
I think the last generation of WRC car was so good! They were a lot of fun to watch.
i know i'm not alone, but i do prefer the design and the aesthetic of rally 2 cars
Rally 1 cars looks more advance with all the technologies, all the body kit and winglets, some of them looks messy and doesn't even looks that great.
while Rally 2 cars is more simple, it's better to look at, they looks like a car you can build on your own as a project, it makes you want to build one in your garage
Totally agree! The Rally2 cars look really clean, but still aggressive.
Who ever edited this, should lower the music level at the beginning. WAY to loud
I would love FIA to kill wrc1 and ease up on the restrictions on rally 2 & make it the WRC1 (larger restrictor and more boost)
It would make it possible to privateers to compete with the ”big boys”, and would be so much more fun to watch!
More power=more cost. Rally2 are there for a reason.
So innovation is stifled to make rallying entertaining to the ignorant masses.
That's one way to look at it.
Not only this, but more or less all across the Motorsport world. Necessary evil though as now you basically can't get "middle ground" anymore. Either all out develop and spend, or budget (or buff/nerf) systems
if rally was so good then where's rally2
I'm not sure what you mean.
you added waaaay too much bass too your voice
Its a car that belongs to museum like rally 1 cars…
Why do you say that?
@@rallybeast you know yourself its true, rally doesnt serve teams, manufacturers or even drivers anymore. We have allready better technology so noone is interrested in museum stuff, historic rallies are different or great rally legend. 80s ice engine was the peak of tech back then with space travel and electric music but now its old tech. Thats how it is,rally isnt some show for brain dead its serious development at least it used to be.
@@rallybeast also this idiotic sprint rally bs is so galacticly stupid,if people cant follow 3 day rally they cant manage their life. Thats insane. And hey Kalle just quit and he is 20 something just because of these reasons. If you want to destroy wrc then keep it as it is for sure but if want more teams, cars, drivers longer rallies and new engine and that is ELECTRIC.
I wish there was a modern day Group B type of class. Obviously keeping safety regulations but still letting manufactures "go crazy". A way to have the spirit of group B with modern safety regulation.... that would be awesome
The last generation of WRC car could be considered that. It was much, much faster than Group B.
@@rallybeast true but the spirit im talking about it freedoms for the manufactures, not just speed. The closer to now that you go the more the cars start to look and behave like each other because of the regulations. to me it was always more of a way for the engineers to flex instead of who can do the most with the regulations like in F1 or NASCAR
All I know is that I want one.
Don't we all!
I don't think it good idea for Rally2 to be top class because 1) and possibly the most important thing is that if this is the top class, then Toyota and Hyundai will just simply outspend everyone as it should, and we will return at the beginning...again and again. 2) if manufacturers like Skoda and Citroen are not interested in this direction, then nothing we can do
I can agree with that.
the voice is tooooo🥱🥱🥱🥱😫
Your unsolicited opinion has not been noted. But thanks for feeding the algorithm with your negativity. Have a great day!
This should be what the top level of rally should resemble. Rally1 should not exist.
Just my opinion.
It would make the competition better and more diverse.
I stopped watching after hearing the price. 🙁
сделай музыку в начале еще погромче, а говори потише.
funny how none of those cars have an air bag.
Why is that funny? Race cars don’t need them.
the script feels soooo chat gpt written
All of them are pay to win with no sort of relation to what cars people buy.
Most of racing is play to win in some form or another.
rubbish if you cant buy the cars at the dealership. Bring back homologation specials please and make REAL CARS not these crap micromachine grocery bug cars
Rally3 is much closer to the car that you can buy at the dealership.
These cars all look the same, it's sad.
Most cars these days look the same.
Such a big gap..its 😪😪💩💩💩
