young men need role models, they need a man who can speak the honest truth and encourage them. Its no wonder his channel is exploding like it is, he's conducting himself as men should towards the younger generations.
"Don't put so much focus on succeeding that you have no focus left to put on trying, again, and again, and again." [ 17:50 ] - trank you so much for that.
In November of 2008 was the Captain of a fire crew that got overrun by a historic wind-driven fire in Southern CA. It was my decisions during the heat of battle that put is in a very difficult and dangerous situation. Thankfully we all survived with minor injuries and somehow kept our fire engine from burning up. The fact that I misread the situation and unnecessarily put my people in harm's way was a difficult thing for me to sort out for quite a while. A senior engineer at my department sent me the "man in the arena" poem. This poem along with wise counsel from solid folks was instrumental in restoring my confidence as a leader.
Man that's a crazy story. Those fires are insane. If everybody else here knew about that arena this comment would hit hard. I guess its nice and lucky you got a learning experience that way. Through the gauntlet is the only way sometimes IMO. Life's crazy
Wise words! I'm a small business owner, and god knows how much I've been criticized and even ridiculed for trying to build my own business. I've even been ridiculed by relatives in front of my whole family! Fortunetly I had the strenght to know better and never listened. I tryed and I failed many times and the first few years were very hard, but today my business is solid and I can make a confortable living out of it. Don't waste your time listening to the critics, what do they know? Stand pround in your arena, strive to achieve your goals and make progress every day! In my country we have a saying that goes something like this: "The dogs bark, but the caravan still goes through!" Think about that. Let them bark and keep your focus.
Hey there Mr just want you to know you have helped me alot lately . I've finally asked out someone I've loved for 18 years . When I was an addict she helped me get clean purely by showing me I was someone worth living . After all this time I'm jumping in the arena. I'm scared shitless but they say it's the only way to be brave . Thanks hey
Dewayne, I'm part of a large silent majority on this channel. I never comment, but I have devoured your content for the past few months. I'm writing because you've had a tangible impact on my life. As I write this, my best friend is undergoing brain surgery, I have spent the last 4-5 days doing everything I can to be there for her, but now I have to sit here and wait. It's a helpless feeling, but I can rest a little easier knowing that I've been a good friend. I dropped everything in my life to be there for someone who matters to me, and now I'm sitting here and all I have is your voice and your thoughts to calm me and pass this time. May God bless you sir.

Dewayne, Thanks for this timely reminder. This is "arena season", and for me it feels like the ache and soreness from last season (and the voices of the old critics) are still begging for attention, trying to slow me down before this season even gets started. Yet, here we are and it's time to mount up and get back at it! Thank you!
You don't know how far and in what circles you are appreciated. I find you being talked about in chats among nurses, even. Thank you for taking the time to talk with us, and may you enjoy much health for many years.
There’s only a small percentage of us left. The type of person you’re describing. You can only teach your kids the right way, and to avoid the type you’re explaining. Some people just can’t be helped. It’s the time of the devil. And some simply can’t be saved.👌🏻
I've had this conversation with myself several times over my 74 years and to me it comes down to one thing...will power. The will power to get off my butt and be persistent with my effort to continue to move forward, and forward doesn't always mean what it implies. Sometimes it means taking a few side steps to regain my balance and catch my breath or contemplate how to get around the next obstacle. About 20 years ago I had a license plate frame made for my truck that says, Dust Yourself off & Cowboy Up! to remind me to, as you put it, stay in the arena. Good talk Dwayne. Now...about that horse stuff....
Strange timing. It's time for me to find a new gig and it's bothering me a little bit, but yeah.. been knocked down so many times it's become second nature to get up swinging. This year is already stacked against me, but it's all a test of faith in my eyes. I always say "God will make a way" and He always does. What takes time to learn is, it's His way and timing and not ours. God bless and thanks for the encouraging words.
It's been said already by lots of people, but I didn't say it myself, well I didn't say it. So thank you Dewayne. Thank you for sharing these life lessons and encouraging the best in people.

Bravo! Nicely said. I have crashed and burned so many times in my life that I have earned the nickname “Crash Gordon”. And no matter the crash, the pain, the illness, the beating…I get backup and move on. Without struggle the species fails to survive.

Sometimes I wish the channel would stay small so I can hoard all these invaluable gems of wisdom for myself, but I know there are many people out there that really need to hear these words to help them weather their own storms. Subscribed at 45k and I hope to see this channel grow to astronomical heights. Bless up everyone 🙏
Always good to hear your advice, this video was particularly helpful. I'm starting over again, and this really did strike a chord, it seems so obvious but never occurred to me that it doesn't matter if you fail, as long as you're doing the thing you set out to do. Powerful words! Thank you.
My personal motto is very similar to the man in the arena: "My armor isn't shiny. It is dented, rusted, and tarnished. It might not look like much, but I have been in the fight and survived to tell. The knight with the fine, shiny armor has never had his mettle tested at all."
Two things came to mind when I watched this. First, from Proverbs 24:16: "For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity." Second, In the words of Kendrick Lamar: "In today's day and age, we practice the self pity of taking the easy way out. You wait on them, him and her, but when a blessing takes too long, that's when you go wrong."
I did not realize that I had the orientation wrong until I had finished with the video. But it came out so good, I did not want to re-record it. I hope it’s not too much of a distraction. - Dewayne

I have that exact quote hung on my office wall. Surprisingly I've had several people read it and honestly be amazed at it. Great content in today's show
Amen. Gotta love those truck talks!. Thanks Dewayne.
I was a great talk and so important for these young men you have to fight the fight of life,!
Fail your way to success. Excellent message Dewayne. Thanks.
Glad you're doing a podcast also. They really make long days in the truck or tractor go by nicely.
Thank you Dwayne for the fantastic advise on all of your videos!
Always good to hear your advice, this video was particularly helpful. I'm starting over again, and this really did strike a chord, it seems so obvious but never occurred to me that it doesn't matter if you fail, as long as you're doing the thing you set out to do. Powerful words!
Thank you.
Your video has just put me back on track in my life. Thank you with all my heart for your kindness and your wisdom!
I enjoy all your videos - thank you very much
Real heartfelt and emotional message. “ Get in the Arena”
I'm so thankful for your words of wisdom, even hearing it as a woman. Very encouraging and challenging, so thank you Deanna & Dewayne!!
Thank you. Sincerely.
Your voice deserves high quality audio and this is a great example, thank you for your wisdom Sir.
Great wisdom from this man and the men of history, and lots of great comments here too. Thanks Dewayne
My personal motto is very similar to the man in the arena:
"My armor isn't shiny. It is dented, rusted, and tarnished. It might not look like much, but I have been in the fight and survived to tell. The knight with the fine, shiny armor has never had his mettle tested at all."
Many thanks, Dewayne.
Food for thought.
Two things came to mind when I watched this.
First, from Proverbs 24:16:
"For a righteous man may fall seven times
And rise again,
But the wicked shall fall by calamity."
Second,
In the words of Kendrick Lamar:
"In today's day and age, we practice the self pity of taking the easy way out. You wait on them, him and her, but when a blessing takes too long, that's when you go wrong."
