I’m 20 years old and ever since I came across your channel, I was instantly hooked by the advice and talks you give your subscribers.. man you don’t know how your videos have helped me.. being a male college student and a first son of my father it definitely ain’t easy to make good decisions at the same time live a way that makes your father proud.. your videos on temper, loneliness, tough love, heartbreak and loss, and great expectations aided my lifestyle change instantly because it resonated with me to the point I started applying it to my life almost instantly. If I could meet you in this life I would give you a big hug❤️ and would almost thank you nonstop for your contributions to my being a better person. I appreciate it.

    1. Follow your heart, but not your emotions. Your heart is the basis for who you are not how you’re feeling.
    2. Use your brain. Think things through thoroughly. Keep your mind active in decision making. Logic and reason must be considered.
    3. Get counsel. Have humility and ask experienced people questions. Read books. Gain more knowledge from the world around you.
    4. Use your experience in life. Use things you have learned and apply it or cross reference it to other subjects
Bonus tip: The thing that’s most exciting about a person is the thing that will drive you crazy later if you get married.

    Thanks Dewayne
As I laid down in bed watching your video this morning here in Australia the words drove home , I bounced out of bed with my earphones in still listening .I made some breakfast for the kids looked outside the weather is miserable and being a Sunday with nothing important to do I was tempted to just go laze back in bed . My wife is a nurse and worked night shift , so she was in bed sleeping and then I heard you say make a decision. So I did I cleaned the kitchen from last nights dishes and this morning’s breakfast, then it was done in no time , I thought why stop now , so moved on to the next job mopping the floors and as I achieved all this in under an hour I felt like I had accomplished so much for a Sunday and instantly felt better about myself. So thank you , because if you didn’t say those words I would have waisted the day in Bed . It’s now lunchtime so I guess I’ll make the Bed now that my wife is also up and about and It has put a smile on her face too .

Her beliefs are opposite of mine. Her wants and needs from life’s are not in line with mine. We want such different things. This helped me. I had already come to terms with it but this helped me feel at ease with the decision. If I stayed with her much longer there would be pressure to marry her. She’s just not for me. And that okay. My problem has always been action. Discerning good decisions is one thing, doing is another. I spend a lot of time fretting about the things that need doing that aren't being done, and it's like I collapse and can't do anything. Good decisions don't mean anything if you can't act on them, so the problem of being unable to act on decisions compounds with frustration. There's even something like a fear of any activity AND a fear of the silence that should come coupled to the act of not acting, a silence that is filled with numbing/cathartic dopamine kicks from the internet

He only shared one or two details about what he encountered on that island of Okinawa and I figured out it was a topic he did not enjoy discussing. I figured out much later in life an event like that will change who you are forever. Some things we can't change. Many we can. As a fellow now in retirement I can say we can't always make good decisions but we can keep learning from the good choices as well as the bad. The only bit of advice I can ever remember my dad offering me during some bad times was "this too shall pass". When I have been at my lowest....that small bit of advice has pulled me through.

What are the odds of this coming out now. I just bought my first car today for almost 5000 dollars that I've been saving for almost a year now. I bought the car and on the way home the hub bearing goes rogue, breaks every bolt on the front drivers side tire, by some miracle there's a lip the size of the lid of a Pringles can that prevents the tire from coming completely off and keeps the car from flipping on a busy 6 lane interstate. I'm now stuck with no money and a 5000 dollar paperweight. But I'm still alive so could be worse I guess. But the reason the "make good choices" stands out today is because I had my doubts about the car. But my parents were saying it's a good car.

I have a great deal of respect for you mate, as a 45 year old Englishman who's till trying to make something of his life and making all the mistakes I do like to have one of your video's on the in background when I'm working from home. As a point of interest I started making my bed in lockdown and I literally can't stand to see it unmade now. Also I I've always been a gym goer but recently made the step of going before work. I make the decision the night before by stuffing all my work clothes in a bag and setting out my gym clothes. Normally in the gym by 5:30. It really helps.

Dwayne, I hope that's how I write your name, thank you! I quit smoking grass after 15 years. I'm turning 29 in 7 days. I exchanged my grass ritual for the cigar ritual last Monday, and I haven't missed it since. Today I bought myself a birthday present! A box of royal agio san pedro de macoris equador, a guillotine and a humidor with a digital display. I'm feeling much better now, and your advice always lifts me up. Even if it is how to bake basic eggs, you could make a video about how to tie your shoelaces and I'd still be hooked. The cigars I can definately recommend! Brotherhood of the leaf brother!

Today I made what most would consider, a tough choice.
Should I shovel snow or not?
(Just for reference I’m in Minnesota, practically won’t stop snowing until May at this rate)
With the temperatures being above freezing, I could have just waited for it to melt. But the freezing nights would have turned it to ice and made the rest of my week a living hell.
Was it wet? Was it heavy? Absolutely! But at least I can look back on my choice to be proactive on a day off, and not worry about it the rest of the week.
Choices matter, and I’m glad to hear someone actually acknowledge that!

If you have a habit you want to slow down or maybe even quit for awhile, there’s no secret to it or great magic. Just stay busy. Get another job, go to the gym, find something to replace the time you would normally be drinking. Don’t allow yourself to get bored.

I find that my biggest issue personally with decision-making is the fear of making a bad decision that becomes a chain of bad decisions that eventually ruin my life. It tends to turn into anxiety, and that makes it really hard to move forward confidently. Not to mention other people rarely let you forget your mistakes.

You are a true philosopher. Erich Fromm defined "rationality" as the marriage of logic & emotion. One without the other is by definition "irrational." Logic without emotion is a sailboat without the wind. Emotion without logic is a sailboat without a rudder. Thanks for your teachings.

As always love the topic and the simplicity of the video. A few things worth noting though. The real purpose of waiting before making a decision is to ssk "Do I have clarity?". In my life I have found that if I do not, it is best to wait. There is something about clarity which gets rid of the need to "make a decision". There will always be resistance when I do not have clarity. But when I do, the answer often becomes so obvious, that it doesn't even feel like a decision anymore. And one way I find clarity, is by asking the simple question "What is the healthiest thing for me to do in this situation ?". Then even if the results do not particularly turn out to my liking, I do not regret the decision, because I made it on the right basis.

You know what’s funny is we for very hard on encouraging decision making with my son. Asking if this is a good decision when he’s about to do something so that he is thinking about his actions. And I also am huge on talking about “steps” doesn’t matter big or small, sometimes taking 30 tiny steps is better than taking 5 large ones, and I use the example of football, the linemen are constantly moving there feet and taking steps, it’s what they teach you. That’s how you keep moving, because if your feet stop you are done and you lose.
Thank you for the amazing videos.
