For example; lets say they fire you and when you ask why they just tell you because they dont like your hair (unrealistic but still), technically its not a valid reason when put up in a court of law, which can get the one who did it fired and replaced. Though often the replacement will look at you like "ok, you had problems with the last boss and now im worried youll sue me so I'll go out of my way to look for a reason to throw you out so youre not a problem if i do the same as them."

I had a boss at a stop n shop who prepared for instances just like this. He recorded ALL his office conversations. It came time to fire a black cashier because he threatened to shoot another cashier. When he fired him, he came back a day later with his father and his father threatened to sue the store for racism. My manager pulled out his phone and played the recording of him firing the son, and the son admitting his threat towards another cashier. My manager then said "see you in court, cause I'm countersuing". The store never heard from them again
I always get weary of this because isn't it illegal to record someone without their consent? Firing them makes sense and that guy needs to go down but I feel like the other guy could counter back with the recording not being consented

I worked in an office with an African American dude who sat and read newspapers all day, or was on the phone with his church that he was a pastor at. He always had a massive pile of backed-up work in his inbox. Once he took a week off, and my boss asked me to go through the guy's inbox to see if I could help with his backlog. It took me exactly two days to clear his entire inbox of projects that he had let sit for weeks. When he got back, he was FURIOUS at me. I just said, "Hey, the boss asked me to help clear your pile, so I did as I was asked." He said, to my face, "They can never fire me here, because if they do, I will sue their ass for racial discrimination, and they know it." And he stormed off. I learned something about the corporate world that day.
To be fair that's a better optio that to be in an actual racist world.
