    I So enjoyed viewing all your finished pieces! Just beautiful stitching and choices of subjects. I just started the Dimensions “ Butterfly Forest” pattern that you had finished. It is my first full coverage and I purposely picked it, as half was done in half stitches. I also gridded it last night and it is now going faster as It is now easier to make sure I keep on track. I look forward to your future projects in 2022! P.S. I finally found a Canadian Robin cross stitch pattern to stitch this spring in honour of my granddaughter “Robin” who passed away in Sept 2018. I love all birds and you certainly have a good many finished pieces. Just Lovely! GREETINGS 🇨🇦🎄

    Awesome! I love all your bird finishes.....but of course, the Stoney Creek, Birds of the Month are an inspiration to me. I think I told you I am working on the February Blue Jay. I did have a counting error in his head and had to fudge it! Doing those fractional stitches on 28ct linen, really discouraged me from frogging, plus I wasn’t sure where my mistake was! Anyway...I will finish the pattern soon I hope. Thanks for the inspiration! Happy New Year!

I've been to Florida twice, but both times were before I was a "birder" so a Cardinal could've been right in front of my face and I wouldn't have noticed. Man oh man, you have so many gorgeous pieces! I'm always so amazed how much stitching some people can accomplish. I had no idea there weren't cardinals in Colorado. We have them in the mid west and they never fail to bring a smile. If you have any of the mill hill patterns and would like to sell them I'd be interested. I've never done any but you had me at "sparkle"! Happy New Year!

    • @calico_whimsy
      @calico_whimsy  5 лет назад

      Hi Vicki! Sadly, if we get a Cardinal in CO, it's because it lost it's way a bit. If you look at the map of where they are found, the line is pretty much along the eastern border of CO....like they know not to cross the border, lol! I'm guessing as time goes by, they will start to migrate into our state, once they learn how beautiful it is! I would be happy to send you the patterns to my Mill Hill kits, however, I've taken all the leftover beads and floss and migrated them into my stash. I would recommend, if you've never stitched one before, to purchase a new one so you will get ALL the supplies you need for around $7 on 123 Stitch. (perforated paper, beads, floss, beading needle and a magnet). But if it's just the patterns you want, I will be happy to share!.

    What a joy this was. I love birds too and never seen anyone do the Scattered Seeds "Mary Mustardseed". I just finished her not long ago and like you, I changed the colors of the birds making some red, some blue and some yellow. I decided to put beads for the seeds so her basket is brimming with beads and I put "piles" of beads on the ground-don't wanna be skimpy. I made her outfit in purples. I love the design but thought it was too drab color wise. I also used white on her bodice which blended too much with her hands/arms so I tried to back stitch but I'm not happy with it but left it. I'm making a quilt for my Mom and want to put her on it but of course the linen is too open weave and soft so I put SF101 Soft Flex fusible interfacing on the back and I think she will be fine when washed. I also knotted the back because I wanted a little extra assurance she wouldn't come undone. I want to get those monthly birds from SC now that I seen all yours. I have lusted after the last Marjolein Bastin design you just finished-I have a lot of her cards. I would buy some to send out and always bought one to keep. Happy New Year.

      Hi Sandra!! It's so nice to hear from my birding friend again! I sounds like you really dazzled up your Mary Mustardseed parttern. What a great idea with all the beads! They quilt will be amazing, I'm sure. If I still had the bird patterns, I would send them your way, however, I gifted them away right after I stitched them. Same with the Four Seasons, I just finished.. Happy New year and happy Birding and Stitching!

      @@calico_whimsy Yes, I know you said you gifted them. It's nice for you to offer. I have a lot of dog patterns I want to do when the quilt is done in memory of my precious dog we lost in July and all the past dogs too. I wish you could have visited today. I counted 7 male and 8 female cardinals. Yesterday the birds didn't come much-I think they seen the hawk that decided to sit on the fence. He swoops in every now and then. I don't like to see what happens, I know they are hungry too but I'd rather not be a witness. The poor mourning doves get caught often by the hawk and the feral cats because they are so slow to take off. Other visitors were Downy and Yellow Bellied Woodpeckers, Junco's, Goldfinches, one Blue Jay, black cap Chickadee and one I love to watch...the Nuthatch. I have counted up to 7 squirrels feeding at one time. I think we have a hundred sparrows and house finches but they're so numerous it's hard to count. For the 1st time we seen a coyote-not sure what he was eating but he was very skiddish. I love the ruby throated hummingbirds and wrens in the summer. We sometimes get Baltimore Orioles, Grosbeaks and Cedar Waxwings in the spring. In the summer we also get skunks at night eating what the birds have left. We even have a groundhog for the first time living in the field behind our house and I hope it stays there because I don't need a bunch of holes in my yard. When I was little we visited my grandfather in KY...he died when I was around 5 but I do remember listening to the whip-poor-will at night...how I wish I had one here. I never seen it though. Have a great week!

    • @calico_whimsy
      @calico_whimsy  5 лет назад +1

      Thank you! I usually wash and iron my projects when done and I think because I store them flat, stacked on top of each other, so that helps to keep them wrinkle free. Some of the fabrics are really stiff and some are nice and soft. If you were to see them in real life, some aren't as wrinkle free as they look on camera, because some fabrics are very stubborn.

    That's an amazing number of finishes! I had I think 6 or 7 this year lol. I do so many different crafts that I tend to drift from hobby to hobby, and my stitching gets deserted off and on throughout the year. I'm currently back on my stitching kick lol 😁.
    I have all those monthly pictures from Snowflower Diaries printed out, but I've not started on any of them yet. Last year I had said that, beginning Jan 2018, I was going to do one each month - but that sure didn't happen lol! I'm just curious what your plans are for completely finishing them off once you've done all of the months?

    • @calico_whimsy
      @calico_whimsy  5 лет назад +1

      I think 6-7 finishes in a year is something to be proud of, especially if you enjoy other crafts! As for the Snowflower designs....I think had plans to wrap each one around a lightly padded mat-board with some type of decorative trim, stick a magnet on the back and find some cute metal frame to display them on each month (like the Priscilla way). But let's be honest, they will probably go into "the bag" , lol!

      I hope your stitchy bug comes back soon! Sometimes just pulling out all your wips and really looking at them, helps spark the inspiration. There are so many ways to finish them and if you search youtube, you will find lots of tutorials and pinterest also has lots of ideas. I will take those Legos off your hands. I have a pretty decent collection, and I am always looking for more. Yes, I am serious. If you like, maybe we can chat about it through email or instagram or something?

    • @calico_whimsy
      @calico_whimsy  5 лет назад

      Probably the biggest reason preventing me from parting with the Legos ( and Playmobil sets) is the fact that I know they are sought after by Lego enthusiasts. I told my, now teen, boys that next summer it would be a great project for them to organize, research the worth and sell them online to earn some money. It will take some time because we have SO many sets, and we will have to analyze if any pieces are missing.

    • @seaweedtotter
      @seaweedtotter 5 лет назад

      @@calico_whimsy That is very understandable. Whenever you guys are ready, I would love to hear your prices. Honestly, what I mostly collect is just bulk legos, not sets. As much as I love sets, they can be very expensive and we are already pretty much out of room to put things on display. And I love to actually build with them as opposed to just letting them gather dust. (There are a couple of exceptions, like my Benny's Spaceship Spaceship Spaceship! from the first Lego Movie). So if you have a large lot of loose legos (especially space legos, as that is what I love to build most), I am more than willing to talk prices. :)
