I really enjoyed watching this. I really appreciate that you give enough time to properly look at each piece and that’s a great tip about getting the backstitch done while you still remember the chart symbols.
This is the second video I watch from your channel. Thanks for showing me the beauty in the dimensions kits. I hope you have a wonderful new year. God bless you
Wow your stitches are so perfect. I hate to do the back stitching but yours are so beautiful. Birds are very hard to do because of all the feathers. I love to do flowers but then there are a lot of back stitching too. The Fox is so beautiful. Working on Black Aida cloth for me is hard but I love how it turns out in the end. I love the Ice Cardinal. Can not wait to see that one finished. I never knew you could back stitch as you go. That makes so much more sense to me. The directions always say to do the back stitching last. Thanks for that wonderful idea. Happy New Year to you and your family. I will watch your videos in 2024 for sure. Love your channel.
Thank you for the wonderful compliment, but if you looked close, you will see my stitching is far from perfect 🤣. The video just hides it well. But, it's toooooo stressful to strive for perfection so I try not to take it too seriously ☺️. Yes, try backstitching as you go. You just have to make sure you do the surrounding stitches around the back stitched area so the lines lay better. Game changer!
I always do the backstitching as I go along too. It’s so much easier for me. I am not a big backstitch fan, so I like to do it as I progress through a pattern, otherwise the piece would probably sit there forever if I had a ton of backstitching to do at one time!
So enjoyed your Dimensions whip parade! I can see a number of finishes in your future. They are all gorgeous! Thanks so much for doing your videos. I am a big fan.
So fun seeing all your projects, Christine. Your finishes all look amazing. In 2024, I would love to see you polish off the fox, ice cardinal, and the orchid/hummingbird/butterfly piece. Whatever you choose to work on, I wish you and your family a happy new year!
Such a beautiful collection, Christine. So inspiring. Your stitching is so pretty! Thanks for sharing, and a Happy and healthy New Year to you and your family! Happy Stitching! ❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing! I have a few of those kits in my stash. For the snow in the winter geese consider using iridescent seed beads for the snow instead of French knots. It would give it a little sparkle. 😀
So close on the seasonal wreath! I don't think I could put that one down for a whole year! Really enjoyed the Dimensions Parade! You have some lovely things to work on.
I enjoyed every minute of this, and am so looking forward to seeing those you will work on in 2024 come together, especially the fox, he is gorgeous! 🦊 Thank you for sharing, and of course I’ll be watching again soon. Happy New Year to you and your family ✨🍾🥂
Loved this video! Your talent amazes me! What a beautiful collection of finished pieces, WIPs and kits 😍 You’ve now got me hooked 😂 Can’t wait to see what you do in 2024! 🪡🧵 Happy New Year, my friend! 🎉
Hi Christine, I've just seen the notification on my phone of this video. Cannot wait to watch it! What a way to end the year! Santa was so kind and has brought me 6 Dimensions kits 🎉, one of which is Winter Geese. Thanks for another fantastic year of content Christine. Best wishes to you and you family for the New Year ❤️ 22 minutes in.....bought 3 kits 😂🎉🎉🎉. Would have been more but they weren't available 😢. Thank you for increasing my kits! It's a shame you don't get a percentage for each kit people purchase as a result of seeing them on your channel! Or, even better, they could pay you in kits!😅 ❤
Woohoo! Yay for more kits! And Winter Geese! So exciting 🎉 oh, I wish Dimensions would pay me in kits☺️ Could you imagine?? BTW, heads up....incoming obsession alert🚨....Mill Hill Santas 🎅🎅🤭
I love this video! I am almost exclusively a Dimensions stitcher, so this was just delightful to watch! I have finished Balloon Glow and it hangs in my living room. Everyone thinks it is a painting until they get up close. I am almost finished with Winter Cabin and I really wish that I had taken your advice about back stitching as you go. It is brutal on this one! If I had done that, I would probably be finished. Oh, well!😂 Your stitching is gorgeous! Happy 2024!
Congrats on finishing Balloon Glow! Ah yes, Winter Cabin backstitching is crazy! I'm really stressing about those trees 🤣🤣. We can do it 🙌 How can I convince you to make flosstube videos 😎😎? I would be your first subscriber !!! ☺️
Thank you for taking me through your collection. As a fellow Dimensions collector I can indeed confirm that collecting and stitching are two very separate hobbies! 😹 I have some of the same kits as you but also very different ones. Between us we probably have nearly the whole collection! I hope you enjoy your January stitching. See you in your next vlog. 💜
So many gorgeous pieces. So enjoyed sitting and stitching with you on new year's day. I have thought about buying the fall piece. The wreath is looking amazing. Happy new year 🎉
Hi Christine, happy New Years Eve. Thank you for this video. I loved it and I am so excited to seeing you stitch in these old projects again. I think you finished the Eagle when your son was in Ireland. ❤
Loved seeing all your Dimensions projects. So happy you showed Winter Geese. It makes me want to get mine out and start it (it's been in a bin forever, lol). Can't even remember what year I purchased it and really need to start stitching. I want it to be a companion to Scenic Farm which I have completed and framed. I will probably leave the french knots off so they are more cohesive. Beautiful work ! Kim
Love your Dimensions they are all so beautiful! Haven’t gotten that brave yet. Maybe find one and put in stash and begin on a special occasion. Thank for sharing .
Hi Christine. Happy New Year. I really enjoyed watching your video. Some how I missed that you had posted a Dimensions kit parade so I’m going to go and watch that now. I’m a massive Dimensions fan. I am really hoping to finish off “Guardian of the Sea” AKA “Dad’s Lighthouse” this year. It is a gift for my Dad and I have been meaning to finish it for 2 years now!! 💜
Thanks for sharing your Dimensions projects in all their glory. I’m just finishing the stitching on my first Dimensions design - A Kiss For Snowman. Then I’ll tackle the backstitching. I’ll find out just how challenging it is to do all the backstitch at the end. Oops! Thank goodness it’s just a petite. Happy stitching in 2024.
Fantastic video I just subscribed! I am working on Santa’s Midnight Ride by Dimensions Gold and it’s a doozy! Started in October this year and not even close to half way done. Love seeing all your accomplishments 😊
Just found your video, I have some of the same kits you have. Have wanted some that you have, enjoy looking at them like you do. I also know I'm not going to be able to stitch all of them. I have given many to the Salvation Army and now I have started to break some of the kits down. I keep the thread, fabric and hoops and give the patterns away. That way I am getting some extra fabric and thread to use with something else. I retired in 2020 and there's just not enough time for all that I like to do.
I think you should get the winter part of the wreath done now while it’s still winter and it will be easier to just finish it up than come back to it a year later and have to reacquaint yourself with the project
Ohh…nooooo! I have tons of Wips and now you added 2 what I need to have and do-NOW! 😂😂 this kind of videos are not good for me. Do video about all your wips!😅 then I can go mad again and order and order and order some more kits! Happy new stitching year to you!🎉
How do you get your floss to look so good in the mill hill. I love them and want to do more. You are very inspiring with all the different things I love the little wool kits I want to get some of those. But I tried a mill hill and I went slow and even tried to railroad I did only use two threads and they didn't look neat, more messy and I pulled the thread out and thought I would ask. Should I pull a little tighter and not as loose? Jennifer
Hi Jennifer! Thanks for the compliment about my stitches! I think one technique( that I learned on flosstube) has helped make my stitches look better. It's really hard to explain with words, but I'll try to remember where I learned it and send you a link. If not, I will try to do a video demonstration!
I don't see why a blocking video for needlepoint wouldn't work for cross stitch. I am not sure I would use a steam method for a project with metallic thread but the wet method instead.
@@calico_whimsy If you pin mount your pieces that are a little out of square, you should be able to get them even straighter than blocking alone. ElizabethAnnCanStitch has a demo/tutorial on the method. Agree that framing is pricey - I usually only get a piece professionally framed if I need a mat on it or want glass over it.
Loved watching this video and all the projects you've shown. I bought my first dimensions kit and I'm having trouble reading the pattern. I'm used to stitching large HAEDs using PK. I couldn't see the symbols on the paper pattern, so I've requested a PDF, but still, I struggle to read symbols that are obscured by backstitches. Do you know where I can find tutorials to get me started on dimensions?
Thank you! What kit did you get? Dimensions kits can be very intimidating at first, but just take it slow and you will get better at reading the chart. It can be kind of hard to read the symbols under the backstitching and sometimes it's a guessing game. I like to make a copy of the chart and if you can enlarge it, that helps too. In my flosstube video 107, about 13 minutes in, I start a new kit and talk about it. Not really a tutorial, but more like tips and tricks and the way I do it. You might also have luck searching RUclips for more detailed tutorials. Let me know if you have more questions!
@calico_whimsy I've got the woodland Enchantress. Probably not the best for rookies. Guess I'm spoiled using PK ... or in this case markup RXP. I'll have a look at the video you recommended. Thank you so much for your reply
It's hard to explain in a comment, but if you search the Internet for "Continental cross stitch" you will learn the method that helps prevent warping. The down side is that it uses more floss so it's tricky to do with kits so you have to be as frugal as possible with your floss 👍
You have some gorgeous works in these kits. Is there a reason you roll your fabric? I'm used ot most people folding and I'm new(ish) to stitching so am truly wondering. Thanks!
Thank you! I think I heard once that when you store the projects for a long period of time, it's better to roll so it doesn't crease the fabric. Honestly, I'm not really sure it matters, lol. I end up folding the roll to fit it in the project bag so there's that 🤣
