You say that one of them has to go. I realize that they're g-shocks, and can take a beating, but with the way you throw remember onto the table, just get rid of them all. I've had some of my Casio for over 30 years, and I never toss them around like that.
As a G-Shock lover I'm still on the fence on this one. $500 for a watch like this, and with no sapphire crystal... This watch just doesn't scream Rangeman! My $350 Mudman 9500 is waaay better than this imo! If this watch was like $300 I'd buy it for sure. In the meantime, I'll keep wearing my GPR-B1000. Thanks for the review tho.
This GPR-H1000 is very niche. It’s perfect for those that participate in mud runs or obstacle course racing. Otherwise the extra weight over the GBDH2000 puts it somewhat at a disadvantage.
I mate. I just got my new rangeman and really love it. It's not too big and is very durable and looks good on my wrist. I got the Gbd h2000 but this rangeman looks better.
Hi just to update. I had the rangeman for few days and really love it. It is very comfortable and not too heavy. The functions are amazing. The tidegraph is accurate and also the Barometer. We had heavy rain and wind and the watch gave a warning when the pressure was falling. I used the watch the gym and it gave accurate readings. The watch is not heavy and very comfortable on the wrist. I be selling my gbh h2000 now as I love this watch more plus it's a good world travel watch too.
So disappointed, its a big pass for me: 1. Stupid unnecessary functions that no one use in the wild, and it drains out the battery faster - footsteps, heart rate, breathing and other shit, it only makes mess in the menu for me.. 2. Stupid small compass with only N 3. Not be able to customize main screen like displaying the barometer diagram or compass.. 4. Gps fully dependent of the phone, no backtrack.. if you lost and phone dies you are fuck'd 5. No improvement of solar, need to charge watch on the cable after heavy use This is no longer a heavy survival watch, its a fitness watch in rangeman pants. Damn... i waited so many years, i even sold my gpr-b1000 because i thought the new rangeman will be the watch i was hoping for.
A big step back for Casio, it is an ugly watch, uncomfortable and looks like a Michelin doll, round screen, muscular body, with unnecessary functions, they abandoned the Casio Gpr b1000, they did the same with the GBD H1000, when this was the way correct to follow, a pity the wrong path taken by Casio. Definitely not for me I will continue with my real RANGEMAN Gpr b1000 with a true and autonomous GPS time position, Casio not with my money.
I can't agree with you. I always want to know my steps, distance, tracking route, regional weather, heart rate, SPO2, altitude, temperature, barometrics datas and others. The breadcrumb navigation and the barometric forecast (storm) are superior. This is the reason why Garmin always be a solid point to the real hikers. Casio is a traditional and a money hungry company. They want to sell the same thing many times as they can. They make a little modification and the job is done. (They think, but the users don't agree) This mixed attitude is the worst for innovation. What I see and read on forums (for example: @Chase the Summit), many G-Shock enthausiast and users abandon the brand and find themselves at Garmin's ecosystem (Instinct 2X, Fenix and Epix). They want more. This is the reason why Casio would like to catch Garmin, Suunto, Polar, Apple, etc. but it can't. They would like to walk on the same way. I think, this is what truly happening. Good question! The running, walking, or biking exercise functions use the GPS to show you the distance traveled and your heart rate. Additionally the app will show you the course you took on a map. But the calculations for calories burned and other details may not be accurate. So I would guess that you could choose the from among those exercises on the Rangeman.

Hi Jim! Are the wings in the Gshock sports watch more comfortable than the new rangeman? Sports watch wings also hard plastic? So they have some “give” to them? Great channel! Thank you! Tim
The sports watch I use is the GBD-H2000. It is more comfortable than the new Rangeman in my experience. The wings on the new rangeman are actually soft plastic. They look hard but turns out they are soft. I was so impressed with the fit of the GBD-H2000 that I made a video of it. Let me see if I can find the link.
beautiful watch, really like its appearance but lack of navigation function is a real mistery for me, especially when it is addressed to active people who like spending their time in the field, hiking, wandering etc.
A LOT of people are upset about that. The premise of why G-Shock removed navigation is that they handed that off to the phone. They expect you to have a phone on you anyways.
i was wondering, if gshock released that GPR-H1000, same as the GBD-H1000???will they introduce soon a GPR-H2000??? like what they did they have the GBD-H2000 ( smaller screen) perhaps they will but with added features....what will it look the GPR-H2000???????? and will be more expensive
Guys, I wanted to get a gbd h2000 because I wanted to use it both for exercises and everyday, considering that it’s a slightly smaller watch because I’d say I have a medium wrist for a 18 years old. But not this watch gets released but it seems like it’s bigger, heavier and bulkier so maybe for a daily driver it’s going to be harder to pull off. What do you say?
I would say both of them are big but both of them are light for their size. I find the GBD-H2000 to be more comfortable for exercise and everyday wear and the Rangeman to be more durable.
@@JimKinkade I used to have it for a couple of months but I ended up selling It because It was difficult for me to see the time on that blackened screen (My eyesight it's not that good tho) , but 56BB it's a cool watch... I was consideing to hit the GBD H2000 but the new Rangeman looks killer
If you go to the “world time” widget you can have another time zone displayed with the main time on the bottom. I can’t check now about customizing the main time screen with a second time zone but I’ll get back to on that.
You are right about the keeper, sucks, you have a big wrist it will not be a problem, I saw in one review the sweat management is not to good. And the guy lives in Australia.
New to the channel, but wanted to ask if you've used the Garmin Instinct Solar line of watches? I grab it rather than my gshocks or Galaxy Watch 5 Pro most times.
@JimKinkade mine sure seems to be. And they pass the Mil-spec 810G. 100 meters. About 20-60 days between charges, unless you get lots of sun. Then you can go without charging indefinitely. And they are on a very good sale right now. Lol
@@JimKinkadeI have Instinct 2 Tactical solar for 2 years now and it works just fine. Very happy with the battery, GPS etc. I am a triathlon athlete so I do use it a lot for my sport activities.
@@JimKinkade I'd say I have about a 7.5" wrist. I wear my g-shocks on the 5th notch during the day. I can still put it over a jacket sleeve if I wanted. Crazy how little strap is left for you lol. I wish my g-shocks had that "micro adjust". If this had sapphire I'd probably be willing to get one. Too expensive with mineral glass imo.
@@MrWeblz17 My wrist is 8 1/2" and honestly I never used to wear G-Shocks because their bands weren't long enough. They just recently started making them bigger. Anyways, the mineral glass on my Mudman is scratched up for sure. But if you want a G-Shock with sapphire, they make you pay even more!
I saw the review from another youtuber yesterday and the smart features are truly trash. GPS takes 5-10 minutes to start up unless he got a faulty model, button delay which is the case with all their smartwatches, inaccurate heart rate data and GPS is a bit off. Casio clearly doesn't know what they are doing in this area, so they should scrap all that and do their traditional layout with a MIP display to keep the cost down because the design alone is cool enough.
Let me test it a little bit more before I give a definitive answer. The comfort level is good. The GBD-h2000 is more comfortable. The band is pliable and softer than most g-shocks.
i need a girlfriend like your wife. mine don't give a shit about my watches, my knife collection , my gun collection and my ww2 airplane models i built and painted. lol
When she sees how much they matter to you she’ll be more interested. My wife really isn’t into the watches but she overheard me ranting so much about the 60 minute timer when the new Rangeman came out she was like how long is the timer?
500$ and you get a mineral glass. Too low response when you press the buttons. It's toooo slow. 2cm of thickness. The solar with all functions enabled won't do anything. No thanks. I won't. But it still looks good. 👌🏻
That's baby GPR B-1000 (Slice of Darkness).....it's nice, it's not bad really....the only thing that's stabbing me in the eye is that disgusting HR sensor, and all those fitness functions, but ok, it could be worse. Casio really could put some nice sapphire crystal instead of those shenanigans. As time passing by, I'm starting to be 100% sure that GPR B1000 will never be beaten...maybe it will, but the price will be not the headache but the migraine. Oh yes, there's no possibility to load the map over bluetooth and follow the compass pointer? In order to really use that GPS? Like anyway, it's a modern Rangeman for the people which are using a gym instead of being in the nature.....and one more thing.....how to replace the battery one day without some serious tool and without some serious knowledge about the smartphone repair? There's probably more ribbon cables inside that thing than inside my phone. Again that small compass pointer? Brother you're realy not lucky with that 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
Jim, I really don't undestand those people with a phone on.....I got my phone if I'm at the mountain, but it's turned off in a waterproof bag, a phone is just a first aid, to call for help if you need it if you're alone (and if you have a signal)....but those modern guys....I don't know....if they believe so much to their phone, and if it's on in the pocket, why to hell they need a watch at all? And what's going to happen once when the phone run out of battery? They have a power bank and a cable in a back pack too? And they are ready to use it in the dark on a heavy rain, or a fog??@@JimKinkade
I feel like you missed a really important point about the heart rate monitor being inaccurate. Most of the problems you pointed out really wouldn’t bother me at all. Maybe you could test that out to see if it works better on someone with larger wrist as a redeeming factor for the watch.
I have the GBD-H2000 and the heart rate monitor is extremely accurate more so than my Apple watch. I expect this rangeman being based on that watch has the same polar powered system.
@@AdaptToAdam that’s great that it works for you, me personally I know I have to wear my rangeman a little loose because of how inflexible the band is. This is why the heart rate monitor would be inaccurate due to you arm moving during activity and light getting underneath. This leads me to another problem is I could still get it if it had the ability to connect to a chest heart rate monitor but it doesn’t so a big flop imo.
@@JimKinkade yeah...if they want to compete ,not only price wise, but quality wise as well with Garmin like technology, they have long way to go...Otherwise better stick to the promo of tough watches only with simple gadgets which actually are with correct readings...😅🤦
Yeah for the money the instinct 2x is a way better prospect. It’s weird for me with these g shock models because they last forever but that resin starts to look so awful after like 5 or 6 years later that I want to get a new one anyway lol I prefer their Oceanus line much more but much higher in price though
too bad its another reskined gbdh2k.. this for me, for sure it aint a rangeman..a nice semismart watch and a bit more rugged gsquad, but nothing worthy of the rangeman moniker ...
Ok here’s a question. If they made the GPR-B2000 and it was a worthy sequel to the B1000 would you buy it if it cost $2000 for example? I’m wondering if they crippled it just to keep it at $500.
@@JimKinkade bro my main problems are with the un proper use of the rangeman name because for 90% of collectors, ramgeman is a true offline survival watch that is selfsustainable and the only one worthy is/was the 9400..the 2018 gprb1k was more of an experiment Wich had alot of issues and problems.. Also the fact that gshock decided its better to reuse the gbdh2k module in a different case tells alot about the interest they have in this day and age and that the era of innovation is gone (as they did with the protrekman 9500).. It's all about profit, minimal investment in R&d and use of shit materials( these bio plastic will most likely dissolve in watter after 5 years of heavy use Wich on the older models it was more like impossible) for me, this sounds like planned obsolescence.. I'm a collector, I love all my gshocks, have about 80 and 22 of them are rangemans 9400..for me, like I said, it's not about the value of the watch, it's about the principles behind it's inception. i was wondering, if gshock released that GPR-H1000, same as the GBD-H1000???will they introduce soon a GPR-H2000??? like what they did they have the GBD-H2000 ( smaller screen) perhaps they will but with added features....what will it look the GPR-H2000???????? and will be more expensive
I'm sure they will. I'd give up some of the display size for a bigger solar panel on the GPR-H2000.
The comparisson side to side with 56BB was a great reference for me! thanks man
Do you wear the King?
@@JimKinkade I used to have it for a couple of months but I ended up selling It because It was difficult for me to see the time on that blackened screen (My eyesight it's not that good tho) , but 56BB it's a cool watch... I was consideing to hit the GBD H2000 but the new Rangeman looks killer
Can you display two time zones at once in the main timekeeping mode? Local time + world time?
If you go to the “world time” widget you can have another time zone displayed with the main time on the bottom. I can’t check now about customizing the main time screen with a second time zone but I’ll get back to on that.
Wrong channel for that level of detail and technical know how 😂
You are right about the keeper, sucks, you have a big wrist it will not be a problem, I saw in one review the sweat management is not to good. And the guy lives in Australia.
I’ve been wearing it since last night and it certainly sweatier than the H2000.
@@JimKinkade but it's looking good on your wrist
@@pparmar40great information. Thanks for the heads up.
Got a link to that article/video?
Most awaited video...will wait for full review 👍👍
It’s in the process of getting tough tested. Stay tuned for the review.
Easily a pass for me, but I can't wait to see you beat the crap out of it 😂
Alright. We’re gearing up the torture tests!
New to the channel, but wanted to ask if you've used the Garmin Instinct Solar line of watches? I grab it rather than my gshocks or Galaxy Watch 5 Pro most times.
I haven’t tried it yet but so many guys recommend the Instinct that I’m about to. Do you think the Instinct is durable?
@JimKinkade mine sure seems to be. And they pass the Mil-spec 810G. 100 meters. About 20-60 days between charges, unless you get lots of sun. Then you can go without charging indefinitely.
And they are on a very good sale right now. Lol
@@JimKinkadeI have Instinct 2 Tactical solar for 2 years now and it works just fine. Very happy with the battery, GPS etc. I am a triathlon athlete so I do use it a lot for my sport activities.
@@Koufalia4 that’s a good endorsement! One day I’ll try it out.
This man woke up and chose to throw, not drop, things.
You have such a great collection of expensive Casios.. I’m impressed and equally envious 😉
The plan was to try them out and sell the ones I didn’t like. That was the plan at least.
Wow your wrists are huge lol. I like that there is more holes in the band closer together.
True! You won’t be stuck between holes because there’s plenty of them.
It is comfortable to wear at sleep? It seems heavy
I wear it to bed. It doesn’t seem heavy to me and I’m not bothered wearing it to bed.
@@JimKinkade Jim, Thank you and appreciate ! I am trying to decide to get this rangeman or the gbd h2000.
@@Ordinary-Hendrik that’s a tough choice. I will say that I find the GBD-H2000 more comfortable to wear to bed. It hugs your wrist better.
@@JimKinkade Jim, Thanksx1000! I agree with you! Just think rangeman have this great name Lol.
Correct. Buy this watch if you like the screen and the body. Ignore everything else.
Jimbo, your collection would be greatly complemented by adding the Casio MTP-B145D to it. A refined piece for a redefined gentleman like you
That’s the first recommendation from you under $500. I’ll try it out.
Is it worth getting this watch and is it comfortable
Let me test it a little bit more before I give a definitive answer. The comfort level is good. The GBD-h2000 is more comfortable. The band is pliable and softer than most g-shocks.
i need a girlfriend like your wife. mine don't give a shit about my watches, my knife collection , my gun collection and my ww2 airplane models i built and painted. lol
When she sees how much they matter to you she’ll be more interested. My wife really isn’t into the watches but she overheard me ranting so much about the 60 minute timer when the new Rangeman came out she was like how long is the timer?
Wow bro you got a new breed of rangeman.awesome😮!
Hoping soon I can buy to a gpr h1000.so I a both 2 rough gear watch together with my gwg2k.
Hi bro what kind of glass in gpr h1000?is it a sapphire glass or mineral glass?
Dude must have been a wrestler in the past😅 the way he slams the watches on the table.
hmmm.....there is a metal bracket on the right???? seems the idea was like the AMAZFIT-TREX???? simialr design....
No way! I have to go look.
500$ and you get a mineral glass.
Too low response when you press the buttons. It's toooo slow.
2cm of thickness.
The solar with all functions enabled won't do anything.
No thanks. I won't. But it still looks good. 👌🏻
Yup. You summed it up. It looks cool and it’s tough. That’s about it.
i am still in love with that WS1700 try to order one but it aint easy ( i am in europe )
It’s funny. I think there might be more hype around the WS-1700. I saw it on EBay marked way up.
Brother you're realy not lucky with that 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
When you or I go hiking we leave our phones off. But I wonder if a lot of people nowadays hike with their phone on.
Love at first feel is an AC/DC song
Ok! Maybe I’ve heard it before and the memory dwelled in my subconscious.
Can you set the timer for more that 60 seconds ummmmm yeah it’s 60 minutes 😂
Love it! ❤
I feel like you missed a really important point about the heart rate monitor being inaccurate. Most of the problems you pointed out really wouldn’t bother me at all. Maybe you could test that out to see if it works better on someone with larger wrist as a redeeming factor for the watch.
Who says the HRM is inaccurate?
I have the GBD-H2000 and the heart rate monitor is extremely accurate more so than my Apple watch. I expect this rangeman being based on that watch has the same polar powered system.
@@JimKinkade chase the summit
@@AdaptToAdam that’s great that it works for you, me personally I know I have to wear my rangeman a little loose because of how inflexible the band is. This is why the heart rate monitor would be inaccurate due to you arm moving during activity and light getting underneath. This leads me to another problem is I could still get it if it had the ability to connect to a chest heart rate monitor but it doesn’t so a big flop imo.
Unfortunately Casio didn't put Hourly Signal Chime on this G shock ! So I will never buy it !
There are some commenters telling me you can turn on the hourly chime in the app. But I haven't seen it for myself.
I didn't find hourly signal chime at the online manual
Maybe I wait for the next Rangeman release
@@hemandestroyall I think it’s on the December 2023 software update. Then you turn in on via the app.

Rangeman or not, who cares. This thing is not even a G-shock. 60 minutes timer on a 500$ rechargable device ? you can keep it.
I keep waiting for them to update the software.

Another disappointment from Casio... I really think they should consider new team of research and development...😂😂
All they need to do is watch my videos and read the comments. It’s that simple.
I have one , and you are a fool.
Edifice is the oceanus for poor people. I have one it is not bad😅@@popecosh307
Отличные часы!
Smartwach for Casio 🤣
Honestly I think most buyers just ignore the smart stuff.
too bad its another reskined gbdh2k.. this for me, for sure it aint a rangeman..a nice semismart watch and a bit more rugged gsquad, but nothing worthy of the rangeman moniker ...
I see this release as a reskinned gbdh2k and nothing else and if I decide to pickup one, it will be only to replace my gbdh1000... Y'all who have 9400's in the collection, keep them close, they will be worthing their weight in gold in a few years..
Disappointed as well. Still using old technology. Too many buttons to push to get to desired data. It’s archaic! Money I’ll never recoup.
That stinks! Sorry you don’t like it. The body is good I wish the software was up to that level.
500 dollar watch with cheap bag and silly package really disappointing
Yes, the packaging was flimsy.
EL Cheapo Casio wins against this fail of a Rangeman 🫵
