I missed that a lot with the newer trains on the last 23 years. This is a great train and I can’t wait to see how well it does here in NYC. I’m so happy to have been a part of history!

    If they were to carry out some of the option orders, they should make them R211T's in my opinion. They can offer more capacity, and on lines like the (E), (F), (M) and (R) trains AKA the QBL lines, it'll help with a bunch of the overcrowding on that line.

    • @clbtransit4798
      @clbtransit4798 Год назад +1

      The 1st option order is going to be 100% R211A's. The 2nd option order hasn't been purchased yet.
      Furthermore, the R211A's have less capacity than the R160's. Putting them in Jamaica Yard is a bad idea.

    Yeah they're nice, but I'd rather see the R211T's enter revenue service with the hard-shell style in open-gangway. I hope they start making sure the low-beams/red tail lights are on entering stations. I've seen some of the test trains where the light was so blinding they're gonna have blinded passengers falling off platforms into the track area if they don't do something with the bright lights. It's that angling as well of the diagonal light beam that makes the R211s worse than other models. Otherwise, they look pretty nice. I love the FIND maps above every doorset and the R211T addition when doors are open at a station to indicate what car you're in.

    • @TheRailLeaguer
      @TheRailLeaguer Год назад

      No. The R179s will remain in service. However it is anticipated that the base order and part of the 1st option order will be for the A and C routes to make them 100% NTT for 8th Avenue CBTC and to make the C train full length. From there, the 4-car R179s will be reassigned to the J and Z to increase service, ending the need for the R143s to operate there (188 R179s + ~68 R160s should equal to about 30 8-car trains for the J/Z). The 5-car R179s will remain for 8th Avenue service.

      These never had them, but 20 cars will have them in this base order. If successful, the last 437 cars in the 1612 car order will have open gangways primarily for the Queens Blvd Line.
