I used to do a lot of FPP. I did 98 blocks of the dear jave quilt with that method by machine. It is a wonderful tech. I use my small 6-inch sewing ruler with pens for the accuracy. If using a fabric one, i use it on paper with a pencil. I never had ink get transferred from a ruler because I use permanent pigms pen. Now that I can't sit at a machine, I've debated about doing FPP by hand. I got the idea after doing EPP by hand. I haven't tried it yet.
@MyCraftyEndeavorsinEPP with the number of tears I have done FPP, it will mostly remembering the steps and tricks I had developed. FPP began to really develop in the early 1990s.
Interesting. I have never seen this technique before. It also looks fun to do.
It is so fun! It is also another way to be super creative! Let me know if you try it. Happy Sewing!
@MyCraftyEndeavorsinEPP My husband bought me a new machine for my birthday. I will try it after I finish the applique.

I love this!!! How do you remove the grid paper? Are you able to tear it?
Yes! It tears off very easily 😃
Thank you for your reply! I want to try this. What size are your blocks?
Oh, I actually used two different size graph papers when I did these. You can do any size at all.
The he red and white are about 12 inches. I have them stored away for a rainy day… or I would go measure for you
Is your block around 10 x 10?"
How big is your block?
