- Things don't end well for scammers when there is a dedicated bunch of scam baiters watching and listening to their every move. Thanks to the CBI in Delhi and InterPol, we managed to get a group of police-impersonators arrested and their crypto wallets seized. The bosses of this call center will have to account for over $150,000 in 4 crypto wallets. That should pay for a few more cyber police in Delhi.
This video shows how their scam operates thanks to some CCTV and computer access.
I reference a few other videos... here are videos by other scam-baiters showing the same group of scammers:

@scambaiter thank you for all the help you provided!
I'm 79. Scammers have tried this on me 3 times. In each case, I say, "What? I'm going to be arrested? They're going to put me in jail??" Scammer: "Yes. There is a warrant for your arrest." I say, "Oh thank God! I've been homeless, living on the street for 8 months. I'll be in a nice warm jail with three good meals a day. This is PERFECT!! Thank you so much. Give me the address where I can go to turn myself in. They can put me in jail today. I'll finally have a warm place to sleep." About this time, they hang up on me.
They've also tried the "your grandson has been arrested in Texas. You need to pay $1,200 immediately or he'll go straight to prison." I say, "So, they finally got that slimy piece of shit. That's great news! Make sure they send him to the worst prison in the state. Make sure the other inmates know that he's a racist, Nazi, pedophile. Thanks for letting me know. I'll tell his grandma. She'll be so pleased. I hope he rots in that shithole." Somehow at that point, they lose interest in trying to get money out of me.
Love that! I usually try to out crazy them 😂 i remember one time I was like “oh no that’s terrible…. OH NO A CAR” proceeded to make very fake car crash noises and my boyfriend who was next to me started screaming over dramatically “oh nooo she’s dead” 😂😂😂. They never called again but we didn’t stop laughing all night. When they called my boyfriend, and they said their name, my boyfriend was like “Tim? Tim how could you call me again after breaking up with me over text you bitch“ 😂😂 honesty best thing to do is to f*** with them. Just makes your day and hopefully makes them feel confused and a little annoyed.

Being from Austria myself and having helped old people with their computer/smartphone I know how vulnerable and easily "panicable" many of them are. That's why it's relieving to hear that at least those callcenters got shut down and especially that our police is open to cooperate with experts like you, especially after our whole country got flooded by spoofed "we are the police" robocalls calling random numbers, which means no one was safe (and even I got some of them).
I'm from Austria too :D
Lol we Austrians are everywhere
I know exactly what you mean.
Many years ago when I did IT a friend asked me to help his elderly neighbour fix her internet. She only used the internet for email.
Long story short, she was using a free dial-up service through the local university and they had discontinued it. I set her up with cable internet and showed her search engines. I could tell she loved to garden so I searched "gardening" and she looked at the 80,000,000+ results; just that large number was enough to make her flustered and apprehensive about using it. I tried to calm her down and explain that the number of results doesn't matter. Just ignore that and find something you are interested in/looking for. She wasn't having any of it.

"always reported the number, but obviously that doesn't do all that much." - If the phone numbers are spoofed then reporting them is absolutely useless, because they don't belong to the scammers anyway (they could belong to literally anybody).
- lol The thing is that those whose English isn't that stellar usually have a hard time telling the various English accents apart, even the accent of Arnold Schwarzenegger from that of Indians, yes. So my guess is a LOT of Austrians with (relatively) poor English skills are probably quite susceptible to this kind of scam (I'm guessing a lot of them have never worked at corporations with the majority of their workforce outsourced to India and thus they might not even know what the Indian accent sounds like or that the accent they're hearing is Indian in fact).

Ur dad’s funny
Sometimes they will call your family members and tell them about you are going to be arrested. They called my mother in law years ago saying they were a lawyer and that they were sending the police to arrest me right now if she didn't have me call them back right away, so I could pay what I owed. She was frantic wondering who her son had married! We were like, it's okay ma, it's a scam, that's not how things are done. You think they are going to call and warn people the police are on the way if they are criminals? There is no such thing as being arrested for owing a bill, even a tax bill, only if you are found illegally evading taxes. But your story strikes a chord with me. People go on and on that there is no such thing as systematic oppression, but yet, if they get a call like this they are so afraid of the system they believe they could be arrested even though they know for certain they have not broken any laws. Makes one go hm...
If you ever hear someone with a shitty American accent, whatever they're selling is poopoo.
yeah the IRS are way more hardcore than that

I wonder why I'm getting less scam calls lately. Thanks Jim. The work you, Perogi & Karl Rock do is wonderful. Hugs for you guys.
This absolutely makes me wonder why the hell Europol doesn't have their own anti-hackers. More Jims would mean more arrests. I'm glad you're out there, Jim.
It has multiple reasons. One is of course money, you make more when you work in the open market and do this on your free time than work for police force. And the morale, because knowing what you also have to do, is bo fun. I would gladly hack these fuckers, but bugging Smartphones with a Rootkit of innocent people, just to monitor them, that is not what I would stand for. And they do this, we know this
Honestly, I want a whole OSS-style bureau of nothing but Jim Brownings and Mark Robers, where they do nothing but sabotage call centers and scamming organizations. THAT is where I want my tax money to go.
@@Spelter they aren't even close to innocent though...
I used to think that scammers in other countries were untouchable, that they were so good and so tech savvy that there'd be absolutely no way to find them and track them down. It helped them by adding a sense of mystery about them and thought we would never see any justice. But then I found your channel Jim and even though it was geared towards scams coming mostly out of India, it was and still is incredibly cathartic to watch. I'm so glad you've used your own understanding of the tech side of things to fight back against these scum bags. With respect and good vibes from Canada, keep up the great work Jim :)
well, these scammers are not tech savvy as you'd think, luckily - if they were, Jim wouldn't be able to find them as easily as he does.
they are easily tracked the problem is TECH companies like google dont give a crap about you
The tech savvy guys get a real job in India's many tech companies. The scammers are mostly stupid or desperate people with no other prospects.
The irony with the previous comment is so good.

Wow, mentioning that their script is specially for Austria gave me chills. Considering that I live there and thinking up to now that scammers focus on english speaking communities. Edit: I also just realized how difficult it must be for the scammers over here because their usual elderly victims won't understand a thing, and most younger people would instantly get suspicious about why the federal police is talking English to them with a heavy accent.

You may never see this comment but great work! My elderly aunt was recently scammed by a similar scam caller, she lost her life savings of about $100,000. That's the horrible thing. They realize that they're harming poor innocent people and I've seen them laughing about the people crying their eyes out. They're heartless bastards
They realize the harm they cause. Moreover, most Indians are hindu and act very disgusting towards anyone they suspect being Christian or Muslim. They don't care, regardless. These are the types that earn only ash, in the end.
If I remember correctly they brain wash these people into believing that Americans and such are super rich and they won't miss their money if they take it from them. I think its why they get so pissed when their scam doesn't work. They're the ones who feel robbed can you believe it lol.

It's scary to see the level of organization of scammers these days. They are transformed into companies, with offices, management, accounting, and a large number of employees. Very worrying.
They start renting apartment units but it's shady when you see a bunch of non related people in a single house on a daily basis so they switch to office spaces.

When a foreigner with a thick accent & broken English who says their name is Amy or Tom calls you and mentions anything about money, ITS A SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!
Thanks for working on stuff like this. It's kind of sad that only two people got arrested and the center is right back up. Makes me wonder a little bit about the local police. Even in the portion of your video that you included in this video, there is enough to show that a dozen or so people were present and listening to the crime(s) being committed. Seems like there should be some sort of charges for those folks.
Holy shit, they called me as well from this call center (I'm from Slovakia). I even talked with them for a bit, just for fun and to waste their time. The call ended with the scammer being audibly angry as he shouted "this is not a scam madafaka" and hang up. Thanks for the amazing work you do!
Great work to you, NanoBaiter and SVEN! Y'all are friggin' rockstars!

It's interesting that nearly all scammers try to make you do something with crypto... makes you think 🤔
The fact that these scammers are operating with impunity in the countries they are is incredibly worrisome. While not violent, this is a pretty evil crime, and suggests either incompetence, collusion or corruption of the legal system. These scammers don’t last long in countries with a functional police force but are running wild in some locales….I think we all know the sheer volume of calls from these scammers.
It would be interesting to see if the press in India would name and shame these people. Naming and shaming scammers would last a lot longer than any slap on the wrist that these guys get
15:09 shown on screen "The Hindu" named both of the arrested.
The Indian government needs to do something about these centers.
I'd luv to see the day
We’ll done. Some results, although working through absolute corruption in India will require persistence and high-level government pressure.
You‘re doing an amazing job! Keep on the good work!
Thank you for the money.
I really don't understand how someone living in Austria could believe that a person talking to them in English with an Indian accent is from the Austrian Police. Maybe if they tried to impersonate Interpol or something but not the local Police!

The best we (those of us without Jim's magnificent skill set) can do is help spread the information and hope that we can prepare the people around us to not fall for these scams if they should ever receive these kinds of calls.
The locals in India, hated them and their lifestyle of stealing money from people abroad disrespecting others including elders. The locals are wise, they even steal Indian-American citizen bank.
You'd have to be very naive to assume Indian police do anything to these scammers. They know exactly what's going on, they just don't care or get paid to look the other way
The trick is to ramp up the pressure untill they _have_ to act or have the politicians come after them after the case goes international-
Jim has caused arrests a minimum of once by contributing to an internationally-aired documentary that caused the Mumbai police to shit themselves,
Realise their corruption was about to get aired internationally so publicly they’d make perfect sacrifices by superiors pretending to clean house,
And sprinted to arrest the owners and brag about it.
