- Come along on our E-Bike adventure for an inspiring half-day trip thru Myra Canyon. This highly scenic portion of the Kettle Valley Railway (KVR) runs along a steep-walled canyon. Originally built by hand at the turn of the last century, this impressive landmark is highlighted by 2 tunnels and 18 trestle bridges that were built between 1912 and 1914 and are absolutely amazing!
Since 1993, volunteers added boardwalks and side rails to the trestles; cleared fallen trees, boulders and brush from the trail; added storm shelters and benches; and provided information to visitors. Following the devastating 2003 fires, along with BC Parks, volunteers managed the rebuilding of the 12 burnt wooden trestles and 2 damaged steel trestles, with funding by the Governments of BC and Canada.
Myra Canyon is located 24KM from downtown Kelowna about a 40 minute drive and has two access points, the most popular is at Myra Station complete with parking pit toilets and Myra Canyon Bike Rentals.

Another great video guy's. Some of the better Myra Canyon footage I've seen. I'm noting that you seem to be hand holding your GoPro more than is other videos. Are you finding doing it that way is easier to manage your shots?

Thanks so much for the comments, means a lot for us. We really lucked out with the warm temps combined with the fall colors to enhance shooting the trestles and canyon. Correct, holding the GoPro versus say a helmet or pack mount gives a bit more flexibility and allows better stabilization in the footage while riding (in our opinion ). When I was 5 (I'm 72 now) I actually travelled by train on this route from Vancouver to Nelson with my mom and sister. I still remember bits of it.

I used to drive on this railway with our vehicles back in the early 80's. Right from Naramata. Great see see everyone can still enjoy this beautiful ride.

Hi Michelle & Holger, hey thanks so much for watching and for the nice comments. We laughed so hard when we read the memorial bench plaque about Jack Schitt. We were lucky to have a warm fall day (October long weekend) and we lucked out with the change of leaves giving us amazing;u beautiful colors for the video. Btw, our first time to Myra Canyon was back in 1989. We cycled over the original trestles without any decking or hand rails. That was freaky and scary. We never realized that today it would become a destination for many folks around the world. Good to hear Michelle hiked part of the canyon too. You guys are doing great, we're still catching up on your videos and enjoy watching them. We're working full time still and our challenge to squeeze in time for all :). I live in Kelowna, been there many times. Yeah, in the summer you have to go early. I get back to the parking lot at 11am and there's no parking left. Nice drone footage. 👍
Thanks for the compliments and comments! We couldn’t agree more, one needs to go really early to get ahead of the peak visitation. We first rode the canyon in 1987, on the original trestles pre 2003 fires, scary riding over them with no handrails or decking. Back then we would be the only people at Myra Canyon, no one in sight 😀, cheers, Tom and Suzanne

Wow this was fantastic one of the best areas for a nice long bike ride. The tunnels and trestles were beautiful. The drone footage was great and yes you had many Money Shots and this does look like a great destination. We would for sure not miss this location it looked like a perfect day. LOL that was a great spot to cook a large pizza~! What a beautiful place you cracked me up with the bloopers Jack Schitt....an Asshole! This was a fun video had a little of everything well done!

The challenge for filming this epic ride was that it was super busy with way more trail users than normal due to our Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. It made for flying the drone rather interesting at times. 😯 It pays to read those memorial plaques on park benches, we had a big laugh about Jack Schitt! 😆 Suzanne and I first explored these 18 canyon trestles back in the 80's when the trail was then an abandoned Canadian Pacific Railway line. For many years it was left undeveloped and not a public trail. Back then we heard about these amazing trestles from friends in the logging business and they told us how to access the canyon with their local knowledge. Our first time riding the canyon back then was really scary and totally unsafe. There were no hand rails or decking. Today Myra Canyon section is a National Heritage site, easily accessible and a very popular destination for many folks visiting the area. Take care and see you on the next one!😀 T&S

Great content and excellent variety of drone shots and selfies . I remember seeing steam trains that used diesel instead of coal passing by when I lived in Hope back in the last century.

What I find interesting is how the trestles are numbered. Since Midway is considered Mile "0" and the mile markers go higher when you travel westbound, you would think that the first trestle would be #1 and the trestle closest to Ruth would be #18. This makes sense to me because if you follow the railline to Penticton, from Midway, the marker at Penticton was Mile Marker 132. It is 132 miles by rail from Midway to Penticton. Midway to Penticton is the Carmi Subdivsion and Penticton, is mile "0" of the Princeton Subdivsion. Penticton to Spences Bridge is 177 miles. Even on the Coquihalla subdivsion the mile markers are numbered higher going West. Brookmere was Mile "0" of the Coquihalla Subdivision and it was Mile 54 at Hope.
What a beautiful time of the with the gorgeous fall colour’s it’s the perfect time to do this having walked a fair portion of the trail years ago I enjoyed watching the trail as it was last fall (I understand more improvements have been done in the meantime)with the e-bikes you made it look easy and enjoyable both ways some nice drone footage too .
