    Part 3: • Gervonta Davis on Floy...
    Part 5: • Gervonta Davis on Tevi...
    --------
    In this clip, Gervonta Davis talks about the prospects of getting CTE as a boxer. The brain disease that comes as a result of constant trauma to the head has swept across the football world but not much discussion ever comes from boxing. Davis said that he stay proactive in conserving his body by not overtraining or over-sparring. To Gervonta, most of those brain related injuries in boxing come as a result of too much contact.
    Later in the clip Gervonta Davis spoke about his endorsement deal with Under Armour and dismissed the rumor that he and Trina are seeing one another.

    He's right about CTE being caused by constant sparring more so than fighting, if you look at muay thai fighters in thailand, they'll fight hundreds of time but still age better than western boxers because they spar so lighty in the gym

    i feel like most sparring should be light and with the intention of developing skill and working on techniques. i see in a lot of gyms, they encourage you to go very hard in sparring and to beat the living daylights out of each other. maybe they should do this kind of competative sparring rarely but most of it should be about trying to build muscle memory without putting too much power in.

    There is no safe level of head injury. Concussions are not necessary to cause CTE. Sub-concussive hits where the brain bounces around inside the hard skull over many years is what causes it. And it can present as dementia, depression, Parkinsonism or even an ALS-like condition like what Kevin Turner, Steve Gleason, etc. had. Very scary.

The best indicator of brain damage is slurred speach anyway, not stutter or overall articulation.

I'm 42 and had 48 amateur fights before the military where I suffered a TBI, punctured lung and was in a coma for a week and I'm not nearly as bad as he is. Tank gonna need diapers at 35.

    • @crpt8179
      @crpt8179 Год назад

      It's the other way around, omg. I can tell you have never punched in the face with lighter gloves... It hurts a lot more. The gloves protect your hands and your opponent's face, it spreads the impact on a larger surface, reducing the pressure and the chances of causing brain trauma, because the trauma is produced by the rotation of the head, if you get hit with an smaller surface on your chin, your head is more likely to rotate and make your brain crash against your skull
