Boy, folks will tear you down in the comments. Coming from a group home and not too many family members, why not big him up for where he is now vs talking about how he talks.
To all y'all hating on Floyd, including CTG, y'all don't know boxing. When Floyd was fighting at his natural weight, (light weight and Jr Walter weight) he was knocking everybody out. ( Diego Corrales, Ricky Hatton, Arturo Gatti, Sharmba Mitchell and the list goes on. When he moved up, he couldn't knock the bigger guys out so he just out boxed everyone and now everyone calls him a boring fighter. News flash, the sport is called BOXING. Getting mad at a BOXER for BOXING is like getting mad at LeBron play basketball, it's just stupid.
Most boxers are introverts. Alot of people get into boxing because they're introverts. He does all the talking in the ring. You don't know about his upringing so you can't really judge him. I see an introverted man that's not socially adept but he can beat the heartbeat out of you. The quiet ones are always the dangerous ones. Never confuse silence for weakness. You will not like the outcome of it..
MrDiggz203 He's a new kid in the game. So he hasn't taken much damage to be punch drunk. Lol 😄 I just think he needs to learn how to articulate himself better. Especially for the sake of interviews, as he gets more popular he will do more of these interviews.
Haters gotta hate. Do your thing young Brotha. All these dammm linguistics experts and speech coaches need to go get a job teaching instead of berating people on the internet.
He grew up in Baltimore. You guys are blessed to have education. This guy grew up in the grinder. And flourished to become one of the the most entertaining boxers right now . Give the kid the some respect instead of knit picking
I'm 37, and this kid is respectable. He's still young, so of course there will be outbursts, but as long as he has a solid mentor he will be just fine. Good luck to you.
Jamal Vines it’s training that helps with engagement with the media...it would help him with speaking up, eye contact, keeping the convo going during an interview, being more charismatic to obtain more followers
Iserved 88 he grew up in a group home in Baltimore...one of the worst school systems in the country, the worst inner city job market , he also has the heavy Baltimore accent, he probably didn’t finish school..he’ll get it together he still young
Khalil Aziz he 23 not 40 chill out, you think mayweather talks well? You could understand what he’s saying but is it something smart? No so what does it mean for him to talk well if he’s making money doing what he likes to do? You probably work a job you have to do, he does something he likes to do and is a millionaire from it.
URBAN POLITICIANS TV people really don’t take that stuff into consideration and just label him dumb, but in reality anyone who grew up how and where he lived would be the exact same way. They really expect a kid from bmore to be comfortable speaking in front of at least a dozen older people while be on air to millions
Everyone talking about the way he talk he from baltimore from the trenches he barley had a high school education i would figure he would talk like that
Emyr Millet I've never been to highschool. However, eventually I've obtained my my high school equivalency. Also, I dropped out at 8th grade. I say that to say he does have to work on his communication skills cause I sure the hell don't talk like that lol.
He’s a “professional”! It speaks to the type of people in his camp; they should prep him for these situations; his background has nothing to do with him being ready to deal with the press. As long as he’s a star - he’s gotta deal with that. It’s ways to make him look good. Have his people draft the questions; rehearse his answers and then put him in front of the camera. No excuses!
COSMO JOE I heard everything he bruh. It’s clear they not boxing fans, they could asked way more. They didn’t ask about Tevin farmer. He couldn’t pronounce Lomachenko name. As a boxing fan, their was way more they coulda asked him. Their interview with Errol Spence went the same way.
Falayon Knight from LA homie respect to Baltimore but hi gotta start taking these fights let's get back to this old boxing s***where you knocked out the big dog on the other side
Gervonta has a million dollar smile, but when he steps inside that ring ... playtime is over. He's ELITE in his weight class and so young. I've been impressed with his skills.
Will Rich Floyd Mayweather has never faced an undefeated African-American opponent in his entire career. 50 fights. May Vinci Code solved. It would be a lot of undefeated Champions if they avoided African-American undefeated opponents
+Gerald Johnson that’s because all they guys are tin cans , unless you can name some black fighter that Floyd ducked that was undefeated....go ahead I’ll wait . He stepped into the ring with everyone
+Carlos Santana please son Floyd was fighting for multiple titles wba wbo and wbc in 07 .paul had the wbo and lost it to bum ass Quintana. So tell me if you where in his shoes you going for the money /legacy fight or for a fight that won’t advance your career #please
AOCLIVE Tyson lost to buster Douglas does that diminish Tyson’s career? What happened to bum ass Quintana in the rematch? He got smoked in 1 round. Floyd got his fucking ass beat by Castillo the first and castillo is Poor mans version of Chavez sr
One of the greatest ever? That's a very high expectation. My only concern with Davis is he's short and short-armed, which will limit his ability to go up in weight and fight world-class opponents. His defense is suspect and he hasn't been tested. Chances are, Hay-weather will bring him along slowly and keep him at super featherweight, and ease him into the lightweight division. That may be tough, because he looks like he's damn near 150lbs in this interview.
TOPSECRET + True talk. Hay-Weather will protect him and drag out easy bouts as long as needed to make money. Eventually, I'm guessing sometime n late in 2019 he will be faced with a solid opponent.
Ing Mmmh: He fights whoever Hay-weather tells him to fight. The same with all of Haymon's boxers. He might be signed to Floyd, but Floyd answer to Haymon.
Aw I love him lol he's so humble. It's his thick accent that's why "I can't understand him". He speaks clear as day and doesn't talk too fast. Anyways, ready for him to get back in that ring
I'm a big Tank fan. Feels like he's a good guy at heart, and still kind of new to the spot light. I'm really happy for him & I hope he uses his platform to motivate other young guys/girls to put the work in and work towards their dreams without sacrificing who they really are.
I know Tank he grew up in my hood .West Baltimore. I've talked to him many times he is a very intelligent young man . He is very smart. I'd be the first to admit that he is not as articulate as others but he is super smart. And he is far more disciplined than a lot of people who are criticizing the way he talks.
Its great to see how real Tank is don't see it everyday especially on interviews or the internet.. Don't need no fucking media coach keep it real bro !!
Harmony H sorry didn't notice your comment until I got off from WORK. You made this comment between 12am pacific time -3am Eastern time. You sound really productive.Getchu some money Bumass
lol the money is definitely a factor. Floyd is the best defensive fighter/ boxer of all time or at least this generation in my opinion+ he made the most money out of all boxers. Imagine if Nas had make or accumulated Jay type money over his career the argument would be more stronger for him to be the goat but Jay's catalogue, the moves he made along with how he pushed the culture+ the business side of it to me makes him the greatest rapper of all time. It all ties into one.
Jamal VInes When I say pushing the culture I'm talking about Hip Hop. He definitely influenced people within the culture or hip hop to be more independent or become ceo's & start their labels. He pushed the envelop so rappers can get paid more, in terms of music we've seen what he's done & in terms of getting hip hop more coverage. The rocafella dynasty alone made history. Of course it wasn't all him but putting that thing together was very powerful as a rapper he's set the blueprint for excellence in hip hop for a lot of aspiring rappers in terms of the overall thing. As a result what you will get is more CEO's, more independence or young artists not settling for bs from corporations & actually understanding leverage leading to better deals while still maintaining & creating great art.
Demani Gonzalez Em has more hit songs than Nas but most people have Nas top 3 so I think it can't be all about the hit songs. And I defo ain't hating on Floyd I actually 100% agree with you but I'm talking about in terms of the overall accomplishment that's what a lot of people look to, to put him over the top. From a boxers stand point strictly I 100% that Floyd is hated on. But what if Roy Jones Jr stopped fighting sooner & accumulated the amount of money that Floyd has wouldn't more people argue him to be a good debate against Floyd for goat. All I'm saying is Money is a factor & so is success not just skill. Like for example name me your top 3 rappers in terms of nicest rappers when it comes to their pen game..
No. Going strictly off talent, you look at their individual skills, and stats. Either way Floyd is still the greatest boxer off all time. Skills and he undefeated
ChrisDeForce I agree with the goat statement but the strictly off talent statement is false in my opinion. Using the rap analogy once again people tend to say Jay, Nas, Big are the best rappers of all time. That's bs anyone who knows rap knows battle rappers are the best rappers of all time in terms of skill and talent however because they haven't had the mainstream success compared to them they won't be considered. Not to say mayweather wouldn't be up for consideration but all the other things like the business success & the way & style that he's done it and accomplished it in is definitely a factor.
Greatest *hip hop* artist of all time. Not rapper. Rap is just a single aspect of the game. That's like the difference between fmj being the greatest boxer of all time, to being the greatest defensive fighter of all time. It limits his accomplishments. Jay is to hip hop what Fmj is to boxing.
MRIDDLE72 when you go into Interviews the whole interview isn't going to be about your profession and Besides the questions he just don't seem to have much personality
He punched me in my face and knocked me out 2 times in high school. So i really kno how much power he has especially the second time he knocked me out he threw a jab then a upper cut i was out cold for 7 minutes
I get what CTG was saying. He was like what does money have to do with being talented? When someone says Floyd is the greatest of all time, they know he get money all day everyday but he's specifically known for his skills in the ring. That's what makes him number 1 not just the fact he's a great business man.
FM was 1 of the greatiest runners in boxing history. He fought all the gr8s wen they were old.FM is the greatiest business man in boxing history so far.
I like this boxer. His humble character is being mischaracterized by coming across not knowing how speak. He's a person of little words and alot of action. This exactly how a boxer should be. Psychologically he has beating his opponents before they go in the ring. This is one smart fighter. Discipline is tough. Even when the interviewer is trying to get an angle with sex, he keeps it respectful. You go champ! 💪👍🙏
They've definitely got him a speech coach. Dude used to sound slow when he'd get behind the mic and Mayweather would have to come up and speak for him, now they're letting do interview by himself. Glad to see he's improved with that as well as became a champion.
That is how the sport had evolved. More or most boxers nowadays are more in it for business. Floyd brought more of the business side of the sport into the spectrum. I still consider Floyd Jr a legend
Charlemagne knows shit about boxing. I would to ask him on the spot, "Since Mayweather is the greatest defensive boxer of all time, can you please give me your top 5 atg defensive boxers?
Tank is a good fighter is an understatement, but of those that would try to understand your fame, let them wonder, and keep humble as you give the proper credits to them that have trained you. Good job Gervonta!!!!
Good thing this #westbaltimorebipper getting str8 to the 💰 cause as you can see in the comments they going hate anyway, even tho he's not media friendly he from the bottom fr fr, salute #tank and salute too the town #Baltimore
Sean P. I spar at the capetillo boxing gym on Cesar Chavez in LA just stating facts don't got to get personal Floyd didn't have a big fight till he fought De La Hoya you and me know that before that fight Floyd had never had a pay-per-view fight till he fought De la Hoya witch always had a big following and have always had a good numbers on Pay-per-view Floyd did come in and change a lot of things money-wise because he knew how to promote a fight with his mouth but Oscar gave them that platform on that stage
Sean P. What is this a f****** documentary you gotta be f****** kidding me bro Floyd has always been known to be a boring fighter never give the people their money's worth and pick and choose fights less risky and didn't make the great fights when they needed to be made he fought McGregor McGregor couldn't even last 4 rounds with an amateur bro fight was rigged and people like you keep on supporting this type of b*******the Mayweather era is always going to be remembered as the worst boxing ever in history and it's going to be recognized how MMA took over Combat Sports like I said Mayweather Maybe around the Cotto fight started hosting his own pay-per-views like Oscar did but before that Golden Boy was the backdrop for all his fights clown hadn't even read your response
Young bull talking about not losing focus, but he didn't look too clever in that fight against Fonseca. Bad enough that he showed up over weight, but in the fight he wasn't particularly nice either.
Angel Sanabria You missed the part of my comment which references him not even making weight for the fight? If a fighter doesn't even make weight, it calls into question his entire training camp for the fight. He wasn't focused even before he got in the ring so never mind all that stuff you're talking about.
Isaac Newton The same people concerned with how he speak is the same assholes thought trump can run a Country just because he has Charisma.......people in control are fucking idiots
King Shu I mean there has to be a balance. Trump obviously wasn't qualified but somehow won anyway gervonta really is a good fighter his personality just isn't very extroverted and out there
God Bless GD, at 19-0 with 18 KOs, he's got a 95% KO ratio. My favorite young fighter..regarding his presentation, he's young, humble, and soft-spoken & will grow into his public persona.
Boy, folks will tear you down in the comments. Coming from a group home and not too many family members, why not big him up for where he is now vs talking about how he talks.
You are right. Let me go delete my rude comment. So easy to type without thinking. Thank you for calling me out sista!

Those quiet ones the dangerous ones
You’re right about Lomachenko the quiet fighter
exactly
Tank Davis aint quiet
JIMNI Experience exactly. He loud mouth. He just out of his element here.
He's not a silent killer. He's just stupid
Rarely leave comments but as a fellow Baltimorean, I feel nothing but pride. I'm proud of this young man.
Imagine now!
To all y'all hating on Floyd, including CTG, y'all don't know boxing. When Floyd was fighting at his natural weight, (light weight and Jr Walter weight) he was knocking everybody out. Also boxing fans: He won a boring UD.

This man can talk. He just thinks he has to be intellectual when the cameras are on and he struggles. Be yourself !
Fluid Videos I agree just be yourself
Exactly!!! Just a little nervous is all
EXACTLY...a young man who KNOWS he isn't "educated", so he seems to be struggling to not mess up
Fluid Videos fasho cuz I’m the same way too. But he’s going down as one of the greatest fighters of all time at the rate he’s going.
No His A Shyness Person
Most boxers are introverts. Alot of people get into boxing because they're introverts. He does all the talking in the ring. You don't know about his upringing so you can't really judge him. Moe Lims I totally agree about him being an introvert! Especially when he talks about his childhood and time in group homes.

This kid is a really good boxer but whoever he is signed to has got to realize. They must work on his communication skills.
He seem too be already punch drunk

Keep shining Gervonte Davis....came from nothing.
He is a good fighter with the potential to be great...he just needs some media training and that will take him to another level publicly
shenae dawkins definitely needs media training. Is sooooo bland!!!!! Very shy!!! Reminds me of mike at an early age.
Jamal Vines it’s training that helps with engagement with the media...it would help him with speaking up, eye contact, keeping the convo going during an interview, being more charismatic to obtain more followers
Jamal Vines that's training on how to conduct yourself and express during an interview
he dont even have potential to be great
shenae dawkins media training? This is the fight game you can only focus on talking so much
Some people don't realize how important the ability to speak and hold a conversation are to being successful.
Iserved 88 he grew up in a group home in Baltimore...one of the worst school systems in the country, the worst inner city job market , he also has the heavy Baltimore accent, he probably didn’t finish school..he’ll get it together he still young
Give him abrake he's a kid
True. As he gets older he’ll get better.
Khalil Aziz he 23 not 40 chill out, you think mayweather talks well? You could understand what he’s saying but is it something smart? Floyd fought every big name of his Era period
all of them are out of their prime or old period
koro sensei doesn’t matter when he fought them, if that’s the case Lennox Lewis fought mike Tyson out of his prime so it isn’t a big win

When someone says Floyd is the greatest of all time, they know he get money all day everyday but he's specifically known for his skills in the ring. That's what makes him number 1 not just the fact he's a great business man.
Ali is the goat hands down
I'm mad at how short this interview is
FM was 1 of the greatiest runners in boxing history. He fought all the gr8s wen they were old.FM is the greatiest business man in boxing history so far.
bmore in the house!!!
Keep pressing champ.
The more he warmed up, the better his dialect got. He was just a little nervous, he had to get use to it.
I can definitely relate coming from a group home...Salute my brother.
Interviewers have zero boxing knowledge 😂😂🤷🏻♂️ they didn’t bother to do research at all ...
KevinAlvarez86 agreed bro i cant stand that
I would’ve asked him how do you feel about de la hoya’s prospect Ryan Garcia in a match against you? Something man!
Leo right! It was an awful interview on both ends .. reason why is a short interview
Young Bandit TBM they made 0 Attempts to even try
Wassup gee in my Jeremiah Phillips voice 😂😂😂😂😂😂

If you been looking at Gervonta interviews, he actually did his best interview to date!
Can bro talk. Couldn't watch this interview.
hodnett jay he's getting better he just got to keep working at it cuz he used to be a lot worse
He could talk. If he didn't talk mad slow. All them hits to that head lol
hodnett jay 😂😂😂😂 he's under Floyd ,who just learned to read
Ngl a lot of people from Baltimore talk the same way tbh
It's the Baltimore accent bro that's how they talk lol go watch the wire
Baltimore where you at💪💯💯💯
Where’s Webbie ??????
Gervonta Davis' loyalty is A1
He beat Joe Lewis Ass!!
jada kiss 😂
Joe Lewis came out of retirement to fight Marciano. He was way past his prime
jada kiss JOE LEWIS WAS 135 YEARS OLD WHEN HE FOUGHT ROCKY MARCIANO!!!!!
jada kiss 😂😂😂😂
It's LOUIS not Lewis... You big dummy...lol too funny
Tank looking chubby here compared to now - he in shape now
Black men are beautiful 😍😍
Candie5000 thanx
I like this boxer. His humble character is being mischaracterized by coming across not knowing how speak. He's a person of little words and alot of action. This exactly how a boxer should be. Psychologically he has beating his opponents before they go in the ring. This is one smart fighter. Discipline is tough. Even when the interviewer is trying to get an angle with sex, he keeps it respectful. You go champ! 💪👍🙏
Surprised nobody brought up the Devin Haney sparring session lol
They dont know shit
HeLIEl i didnt know they sparred
they dont want hands on them
Another good interview
DMV STAND UP!!! 🔥🔥🔥
King Kawayne
Ain't no DMV Baltimore Don't Rock With That Shit
Whatever, man. Much success to Gervonta Davis.
He speaks well enough.
they needed to press him and put the mic closer
They've definitely got him a speech coach. Dude used to sound slow when he'd get behind the mic and Mayweather would have to come up and speak for him, now they're letting do interview by himself. Glad to see he's improved with that as well as became a champion.
He was never slow, Floyd just used to speak for him
@@weeshirley5934 key phrase "sounded slow". That wasn't a shot at his intelligence. Some people just don't put words together that well.
Baltimoreeee
Briana Morg Damn u fine baby
Money Mayweather is one slick character when it comes to the boxing world he's pretty much the Jay-Z of boxing🥊
Speaks like Mike Tyson
Omar Shraf Worse
😂😂😂
That is how the sport had evolved. More or most boxers nowadays are more in it for business. Floyd brought more of the business side of the sport into the spectrum. I still consider Floyd Jr a legend
Charlemagne knows shit about boxing. I would to ask him on the spot, "Since Mayweather is the greatest defensive boxer of all time, can you please give me your top 5 atg defensive boxers?
You act as if you the only boxing fam lol Charlemagne probably a way bigger fan than you
Tank is a good fighter is an understatement, but of those that would try to understand your fame, let them wonder, and keep humble as you give the proper credits to them that have trained you. Good job Gervonta!!!!
People hating on how he talk but he getting $$$$$. Where y’all haters @ now
Julio cesar Ortiz facts
Love him and Ari together!🥰😩❤️🙌🏽
The kids a bit nervous
Rs222222 codblackops1 nah that’s how he talk homie he has speech impediment

cr ceer didnt know that, respect the kid regardless 👏
Came to rewatch this after his latest win. Who else?!
Good thing this #westbaltimorebipper getting str8 to the 💰 cause as you can see in the comments they going hate anyway, even tho he's not media friendly he from the bottom fr fr, salute #tank and salute too the town #Baltimore
Fallopian tube Lover already dummy😂🤘🐉🥜
This my lil mans, he’s going to be a legend
I clicked only bc of the fog jacket. I was just following the drip.
He’s a good kid. Hope the best for you Gervonta Davis. Stay intelligent.
Gervonta Davis he's a great Prospect but you're fighting on those undercards when you going to fight somebody that got some Talent
El Kompa 4 Alvarez He just getting started and trying to work his way from the bottom up.
The Champ Tank Davis
Young bull talking about not losing focus, but he didn't look too clever in that fight against Fonseca. Bad enough that he showed up over weight, but in the fight he wasn't particularly nice either.
Truly Zambian not every boxer/ fighter has a great night you know that not every one is going to have a perfect fight
Angel Sanabria You missed the part of my comment which references him not even making weight for the fight? If a fighter doesn't even make weight, it calls into question his entire training camp for the fight. He wasn't focused even before he got in the ring so never mind all that stuff you're talking about.
Truly Zambian hell come back stronger and better he's next one. Watch
Angel Sanabria he spitting facts
hes the future of boxing mark my words
You were right!
No matter how good he gets, the fact that he has zero charisma is going to hold him back
Isaac Newton The same people concerned with how he speak is the same assholes thought trump can run a Country just because he has Charisma.......people in control are fucking idiots
King Shu I mean there has to be a balance. Trump obviously wasn't qualified but somehow won anyway gervonta really is a good fighter his personality just isn't very extroverted and out there
Is he really not qualified? I mean last president didn't have any real experience before taking the job.
Actions speak louder than words
King Shu I agree. The quiet one is the one you have to watch out for. Talk is cheap.
I see that don julio anejo in the back ....thats some smooth shit
Breakfast club off to a slow start this year
Stay up bro
He said a lot of these fighters have no discipline yet he didn’t make weight🤔
God Bless GD, at 19-0 with 18 KOs, he's got a 95% KO ratio. My favorite young fighter..regarding his presentation, he's young, humble, and soft-spoken & will grow into his public persona.
