What did you think about the Pawn Stars segment? You can watch the entire segment here: facebook.com/watch/?v=559677641533513
it is a big scam they will pass it around upping the price then hope everything else jumps up in price.
How much would you pay for this SEALED super Mario bros
I think this was a publicity stunt for wata games to get some attention to try to manipulate the game collecting market,
I bet you that pawn stars was in on this also
This all smells shady to me
They shoulda tried for a billion.
I'm wondering which version of the game is on the bootleg Gameboy I bought on Amazon. I could be rich!
You know a lot of people don't really know about this game. The best I can do is $80. I'm taking a big risk on this.
Let me bring in my neutral 3rd party buddy to tell us more about it.
i'll buy it for 4 dollars and want a big mac
I felt like I was watching a paid advertisment for WATA when I saw this on Facebook.
I actually thought they were talking about Satoru Iwata, since I am aware that he passed away four years ago (Rest In Peace, BTW).
This whole “sticker sealed Mario” craze just seems like a huge bubble ready to burst
It's a bunch of rich people trying to push the sealed video game market, they're the same ones buying up all the older graded comics the past few years trying to drive it up and then sell off at peak. Right now alot of these graded games are showing up at comic conventions and I love pointing out hey that sealed SNES game what do you do to make sure the save battery in it hasn't leaked or exploded since it's sealed, they just look at me confused.
What's dumb is that the "value" literally rests on a flimsy sticker. Should that sticker appear peeled or touched in any way, the game automatically loses 90% of its value despite everything else being mint. Really silly and makes no sense.
It does smell a lot like the comic book industry in 1995.
@Ultra CNC Its "value" is being manipulated by market speculators to appear far greater than it actually is. People are then essentially fooled into believing these items are really worth these inflated prices, and spend that kind of money themselves. It's not only silly, but also unethical on the part of the manipulators, and dangerous on behalf of the buyers. Let me ask you this: is the first printing of Super Mario Bros. in Mexico also worth a million dollars? Britain? Brazil? Japan? This is all an invention; a scam if you will.
@@bayouboyentertainment2106 This. It's all just a scheme to drive up values through speculation and make money. Eventually nobody's going to want this crap anymore and only actual rare games will be worth anything, but nothing near what they're currently worth.
It basically was an ad for wata and graded games in general. Some bullshit trying to artificially inflate graded game prices.
theres a wata graded and sealed extra mario bros on ebay right now for 500 dollars its a rom hack its in cartridge and says nintendo entertainment system on the label in nintendos signature font thats says a lot about the company to me
In my eyes it's worth $30, even knowing everything behind it. It's just another Super Mario Bros.
Mitch McCann exactly...99% of gamers and collectors don’t consider this anything special.
@@sherwoodccm I know
What's funny is that it's not the game that's worshipped, but that silly sticker. Should that sticker ever be peeled or removed, no one would care about the rest of the game, despite everything still being mint.
AdversaryOne i am
Most ignorant thread ever lmao
That's a lot of lettuce, for some 8-Bit mushrooms. 🍄
This will be more about "I bought the Mario cart that was on Pawn Stars" and not the game itself, in the end.
Absolutely. It's the Alamogordo E.T.
Who says the guy had any offers at all? Just because he says he did, doesn't make it true.
It's almost like reality television all completely fake bullshit.
True you can ask a million dollars for whatever you want. It means nothing. The only thing that matters is how much you can actually get and even then it may not mean anything. Unless that's a consistent and accepted average price it means nothing.
One sucker of a buyer does not set the value for the market.
they made 445 jillion copies of mario. its like worth $1 at best
I miss the old Pawn Star days.. Back when people walked through the front door. And the lighting always seems a little off.
Now on that WATA issue. It did feel more like a commercial than an actual seller visit. Congrats on their new found publicly (whether good or bad).
Sounds like the same kind of scam that goes around the arts collecting world.
It's worse. At least in the art world your getting a one of a kind piece made by an artist. This is just mass produced plastic.
@@cammy1273 Problem is, the artwork that sells for a lot is determined by a small group of people, not real artists. And wealthy individuals use artwork to hide money or transfer money out of a country without paying any fees.
@@andywolan I think that's a bit pessimistic, I won't say there are artists who have not been lucky but generally the artists that make it work very hard. If you look in most coffee table books about artists you'll see a section at the back called a biography which tells you how hard said artist as worked.
@@cammy1273 I'm not saying there are not real artists that don't make real art. But I will say that there is art that is selling for insane amounts of money that is only valued high for the wealthy to hide money, NOT for the appreciation of the artist's work.
@@andywolan yes true
$1,000,000? You can get the ROM for free.
Sealed rom goes for damn near a milky tho
I thought is was one of the stupidest things I have ever seen.
You are 100% here, Pat. I did a video on this as well. It is a SEVERE conflict of interest that WATA is engaging and several high profile experts in the trade are already scrambling to warn the public. Stay tuned...
What experts are going to warn the public and how? I'm going to check your video. Here it is for others: ruclips.net/video/JssEyp-DK8w/видео.html
Pat the NES Punk Reserved Investments is on the side of sealing games in plastic makes them worth more. Just not on WATA’s side. Personally I think the whole concept of sealing games is a waste. WATA has been trying every avenue to get people to believe in them.
They made their own grading based on comic books, has been working with Heritage Auctions to feature games for sale, and now Pawn Stars. Business or not this is just shady practices trying to get people with money into the market.
edit: update the ad for the wata graded and sealed rim hack has changed it is no longer listed as a graded and sealed game the pictures of the game in its acrylic box have disappeared as well reserved investments i dont know what it means to you but i just saw a wata graded and sealed extra mario bros on ebay for 500 extra mario bros. is rom hack ..
@@GeorgiaRidgerunner Dude can you link that? The one I found @500 is absolutely not wata graded...
@@johnmalvent2189 i know i went back and checked the ad myself it has changed the pictures of it in its wata acrylic box are gone and it doesnt say anything about it being graded anymore ... thought id updated my post on this to include that the ad had changed guess i didnt but oh well im fixing to update the post you responded too sorry for any confusion my post may have caused
Some card grading companies keep track of sells of a card so you can see how much it has gone for, BUT usually the seller themselves has to log in the info to the site. Plus that doesn't include offers, just deals.
I feel like when pat went on pawnstars he didn't even want to sell his nwc.
C.J. Jones it’s very clear it was staged for entertainment. He didn’t go there to sell them
He had no intention of selling it.
Saw that episode and Pat came in that episode like a boss 💪🏼
I thought Pawn Stars went under and that’s why they’re not on television with new episodes anymore.
Wasn't Pat on pawn stars with absolutely zero intentions on selling his game? He only did it for bragging rights?
Since he had to sign an NDA for appearing, I think he was in town for a convention and probably invited to be on the show just to showcase his rare items. I stopped watching the show years ago after discovering most of it was staged, just like American Pickers. I used to ride vintage Vespas and one came on the show that was an obvious Vietnam import death trap (what collectors call a Nam Bodge Job/Nammer), they are all paint and chrome held together with bondo that fall apart while riding them. People import them for pennies then try to sell them for thousands of dollars to people who don't know what they are. Pawn Stars called in their "expert" who couldn't even spot it was a bodge. It was crystal clear it was a fake deal just to pad out the runtime of the show. Never watched again
This guy was the same. Never intended to sell it
This was just a publicity stunt. A good one too.
Same as Pat taking his NWC cart there.
@@dewinter1411 apples and oranges
Every pawn stars episode:
Rick: hey chum come here
Chum: what , o okay Rick.
Rick: sighhh.....
That's crazy amount of money. Many deep pocketed comics collectors are now getting into the rare NES games collection and getting the best of the best out there for the sealed and graded games. I'm happy with my cartridge only NES collection.
This is of course staged. If you have a game worth a million dollar, you wouldn’t bring it to a scammy pawnshop.
And thus begins another three months of Ian grading everybody's dusty copy of Trojan because "these things are getting valuable."
Imagine if Tim Atwood had two cases of sticker Sealed SMB ;).
@TotallyRadDad To quote Pat The VALUE!
Seems pretty cut and dry. Owners of the sticker seal overpaid as an investment, now are doing what they can to try to get a dummy to overpay them
sir if you look around you can find quite a bit that would make you question the wata company somewhere on another channel someone posted several links some were known newspapers but the most disturbing one to me was wata has a grader employed that has been charged with fraud twice in the past it had to do with colletible coins
I saw this episode and I was surprised it's still on the air.
Good luck getting a million from Rick for that....I asked him for change for a twenty one time and he offered me $5 because he was taking all the risks 🤭😔🤐
🤣
Hes got to get it authenticated...frame it...then it's going to take space up in his shop for a few years.
I know it's scripted, but I can't stand how they try to act like Chumlee knows about video games. I remember when the Pawn Stars were on Who Wants to be a Millionaire and he couldn't answer a simple question about Centipede.
I was waiting for this ever since I saw the segment awhile ago
Ohhhhh I so want to hear pat talk about pawn stars now!
I'm guessing it's heavily scripted, everyone knows everything beforehand, and there are no surprises for those involved. That's why there's an NDA
@Fach Yutuob not only did he not intend to sell, he was inflating the market to boost his own sales at his game store
I want to hear more about your contentious emails with Rich
Pat's Outlook alerts made me think I was getting work on a Sunday. Traumatic!
That TV show *_is_* the term CRINGE 😖
Ah I miss listening to your guys podcast all the time at work.
I just remember I stopped listening because episodes became so sparse coming out regularly that I couldn’t even keep up when new ones popped out.
I’ll have to try and catch up but I like to hear about recent gaming news from ya guys
I feel I've spent too much on $1 gameboy games. Couldn't imagine spending that much on a collectors item
@@alphatrion100 I mean you could.
Good for you guys calling this out
I honestly rolled my eyes when they mentioned $1 Million. Great collectors item but give me a break.
We get it Pat.. You were on an episode of Pawn Stars lol
as soon as i saw this on pawn stars i knew it was gonna get a segment on the podcast lol
Guys, it's snowing. Happy holidays.
The Nintendo PlayStation for $1m would be a better buy.
Not like I could afford either.
A sealed copy is in perfect condition, on eBay at this very moment, for $8,500. Even amongst the rarest of gaming collectibles this price is extremely high... with that said I have no idea what the seller thought would happen :D
Pat seems dangerously close to violating his NDA. We all know Pawn Stars is fake, but Pat’s not supposed to imply or say it.
That poor but very expensive cartridge still in the box😿😿
everyone knows that show is fake, but is fun to watch xD
If Super Mario Bros. sealed is worth 1 million USD, how much could worth an Earthbound sealed cartridge?
If I were the owner of that game, I would ring up a good museum that I trust and see if I couldn't make a deal with them to have it on display for a monthly amount.
I can imagine a lot of people would love to see it with their own eyes and both the museum and these guy could benefit from it until they find a seller.
A lot of effort to manufacture a new market with the "sealed" thingy since the normal collecting starts not to be as profitable as used a lot of manipulation speculation for a bubble wich will burst immediately the next years.. I see sues coming
So, I didn't sign an NDA but I know someone that's been on the show and have heard accounts of others that have been on the show that either didn't sign an NDA or simply ignored it. All transactions on the show are set up. None of the cast members are ever present to speak with customers at the actual pawn shop unless it's for a special event (I.e. an autograph signing or something of that nature.) I believe there's even a RUclips video that speaks on this. This is no different than any other similar "reality TV" show though. That being said, the only way that Mario game will ever hold a million dollar value is If someone buys it for a million dollars in which case would make the resell price even higher most likely. Is there anyone out there that would even pay 200,000 to buy it off this guy so that he makes a profit? Maybe. Any higher? I don't see it, but I don't think he even had the intent of actually selling it in the first place, it was just a cool item to put on the show and a way to advertise the grading company as stated.
A million? Sealed games are a scam: Open the box and find out the game has bit rot. Still worth $1M?
andywolan only 7 bits left.
@@Islandswamp LOL!
Whether it has bit rot or not doesn't matter. You're buying it for the seal.
If you break the seal then of course it's not worth as much even if its bits are completely intact. That's the point.
You don't play a hundred thousand dollar+ cartridge. It sits on your shelf.
It's Schrödinger's cat!
"Let me call in an expert from the History channel to hire an extra to pretend to sell me this."
Ian vs Pat arm wrestle match
It was absolutely an advertisement for both the game and WATA. Why else would this guy even take his game onto Pawn Stars and ask for a price they couldn’t possibly give him?
It's only worth what someone is willing to pay
Mr Brown got on famously with Mario imo 😎
Dennis and Mr. Brown got along famously
In 5 years, this boxed game will be passed around by the wealthy as a means to legally smuggle money out of and into certain countries while avoid fees and taxes. It will not be a collectible in terms of video game preservation. It will just be a vehicle to shuffle money around like bank notes or bit coins. One day, a drug dealer will get a hold of it in exchange for a shipment of drugs, who will then exchange it for a condo or other real estate in Panama. Just like how over priced crappy "elite" artwork is being passed around today. Painted hand prints on a white canvas that a 5 year old could make worth millions of dollars? Do you think wealthy people really believe it? Of course not! The exchanges set artificial market rates that make it worth that much, and so they use it to hide their money into these crappy artwork pieces.
Saw this on the other day and swore it was a rerun, pawn stars is still on ?!
Well two years later and one just sold for 2 million in August, guess the seller wasnt very crazy after all
I love this comment on one of the pawn stars videos, it is so damn true:
"If this is legit, It'll be the rarest piece i've seen."
Legit 2 mins later.
"I've seen plenty of these pieces."
I have an unopened copy of this cart. Never had the flap flipped.
RIP Chum Lee. He lived a fruitful life. Thoughts and prayers 👏👏
So now Pat regrets his appearance on Pawn Stars. That's new.
There so desperate to convince ppl that NES game collecting isn’t this valuable. That’s the only known sticker sealed of super Mario bros, it will be worth millions
@@deezguns1012 It's a classic conflict of interest, and grading companies get a cut of the secondary market value. As do the auction houses. They directly profit from these games being "worth" enormous amounts of money.
@@RobertJW Say what you want. For all of us that have been collecting for years, our bank accounts are "worth" alot more now than previously. I'm not crying for Bitcoin millionaires that are paying 7 figures for games, especially those are the most mint condition sealed games on the market and will be flipped to another bitcoin millionaire in the future. Could careless about Wata gaming or Heritage Auction supposed collusion. The market and demand is real and you're just jealous you weren't picking up games for dirt cheat years ago
@@deezguns1012 It’s a bubble. It’s a classic collector’s bubble, pushed by the same people that were busted for illegally doing the same thing in coin collecting. Your games aren’t going up in value because they’re suddenly being appreciated for what they’re worth, they’re being pushed up, and who knows how long it’s sustainable before the market collapses?
@@deezguns1012 and I did pick up games for dirt cheap years ago. That doesn’t mean I can’t see what’s going on here.
I though you might cover this
Make an episode with AVGN about this rare game! This would make a great sequel of the Nintendo World Championships!
Rare game, and rare variant are not the same thing.
A million dollar price tag for any video game is completely insane. I understand this is a rare edition of the game. I would say a fair price for the game would be 200 to 500 dollars, and i wouldnt pay that since the game and box are very common the sticker that "seals" the box is rare. Don't get me wrong the item is cool and all but ppl have gotten out of control is pricing collectibles.
Wow I just found a NES 001
My head hurts😓😓😓😓
That was just a commercial for Wata.
And on July 10 it sold at auction for 114,000.00. Nowhere near 1 million and not much more than the offered 100,000 after auction fees etc. Rick knew what he was doing!
A child never got to experience Super Mario bros because tat cart was never opened.
problem with sealed games is that no one knows whats in the box.
LOL there's a $300,000 offer on it one sold last year with a similar but slightly lower grade for $195,000 but this guy is like $1,000,000 Austin powers style hahahahahahha
It was nothing more than shameless advertising from WATA.
IF its a really best condition maybe about 300-400 like what Pat says back in the Flee Market and convention days that no one was buying Sealed games without the grading area I just want to play the game maybe have a CIB with the manual in it about $75-100.
no one will pay $1000000 for that EVER!!!!! may as well ask a billion dollars
His name is Rick!
Sold for 2 mil at auction on 8/6/21
I literally just saw it sold for $660,000! Wow
I get that it's somthing thats unique but 1million dollars is stupid. Even thousand bucks I would raise an eyebrow too.
They were just trying to get 'buzz' about video game collecting. It was an advertisement on a Pawn Stars segment that's all.
Where can I find the episode Pat was on?
ruclips.net/video/mrntYxB92GU/видео.html
I didn't know that Pat was on Pawn Stars lol
I'm not implying but when I watched the episode with pat selling his 2 cartridges I honestly thought the same thing. Again not suggesting or implying anything it's just unless we know what they are thinking we really won't know if it was a legitimate push to raise the value or just having a bit of fun with a TV show.
*I saw this conversations coming*
I wish I knew what I could buy a lot of right now that will be worth a lot in the future
Pat when does the NDA expire for you man? I want to hear your story about it all! I can tell you’re holding back and have a lot to say.
Prepare for the crash, everyone. It’s just about here.
LeT mE gEt My BudDie down here to take a look at it he's an expert...
Omg I literally just watched this on tv and I never watch pawn stars yesssss
Only way I can see it being worth that much is if Mr. Miyanoto grabbed that copy off the first assembly print of SMB and there is sufficient evidentiary matter to say that was the very first print created of this iconic game
WATA have a new line of products, that utilise the sealed plastic box.
Celebrity Farts.
Now that's a Million Dollar idea.
It is rare, but it's also Mario...not something like Stack-Up which test copies of are undoubtedly more scarce.
You forgot to ask Rich or Dennis if they paid money to appear on the TV show to inflate the price of their game.
This is all a big PR stunt
This is gonna make my life hell for the next 6 months Cos people are going to think all of their games are worth a shit ton of money
Ahh
I have the cart that I got my any% time of 4:56.279 on it. How much could I get for that?
How long does an NDA last?
