  • After getting quotes for whole home generators between $15k - $21k I put together and modified a box shed and generator for $3k that does everything a whole home generator does with the exception of turning itself on and off. Saving a minimum of $11k is worth 2 or 3 minutes to turn my generator on and off when the power goes out. Please aways use a interlock kit for safety.

This is a perfect example of what you can do with our portable DuroMax generators. We love that you included the cost versus a permanent generator. Overall, enjoyed watching your video and glad there are people like you who are willing to educate how cost effective owning a portable generator really is!

Nice build! I’m currently working on my own build now! My 10 yr old son’s quick thinking helped save his mommy’s life! He ran down to a neighbors house for help to setup and start the generator to run her oxygen concentrator after running out off reserve oxygen tanks!

i like the work. Not over engineered lke many of the diyers. Mostly common sense and good take on necessities. Shed looks tougher than most like the suncast. Looks like a lifetime shed (plate). Only thing I would have included would be rockwool and also a temp sensor inside. Like the work.

You did a nice job on that. Well done!

    Really nice build! Great job

You might also use an earth anchor and chain or cable to further discourage theft.

I would like to see a list of things you used for your build. Nice job it looks really good!

  • @FatTailFishing

    Nice build

  • @BOB12349307

so you did all that and didn't do a whole house hookup with interlock kit?

  • @apost1234

Looks good! Will you list everything you used for the exhaust and the backboard? Thanks!

  • @user-pw2bk8wt5h

Would greatly appreciate a list of materials for the build. I'm especially interested in the venting and exhaust aspects as I'm in the build process currently.

  • @indianabowhunter9471

i just bought the same generator. What size of exhaust pipe to you buy 1-1/4 ?

  • @Adrianj1

This looks amazing, Can you provide a list of what all you purchased to complete this project and where you purchased. This is exactly what I'm looking to do with My Duromax generator.

  • @FerrelCordle

My generator has a carbon monoxide sensor that will shut down generator if level gets too high. Is there enough circulation with this set up that my generator will not shut down?

  • @richardc4578

What connection do you use to keep the battery charged?

  • @ArturoPalaciosJr

awesome set up. what did you use to connect your exhaust through the shed?
