Ohhhh Mama Hoss! I got my ingredients together. Already started cutting maters. I'll finish the rest of the way tomorrow. I can't wait! First time ever making anything like this. I've only canned stewing tomatoes, pickled cucumber, squash and okra. I'm excited. Happy homesteading! 🙏🏻❤️
@@gardeningwithhoss Welp! 24 pint jars later...done. I'll admit, I didn't have oregano, but I used Italian seasoning instead. It came out so delicious. Thank you for this recipe. Happy homesteading! 🙏🏻❤️
Just finished 32 pints of this minus the cilantro (vile weed). This stuff is absolutely the best salsa you’ll ever eat. Thanks Mrs Hoss for the great recipe!!!!!!!
Thank you Ms.Hoss for all of your canning recipes they are tremendous help for ppl who didn't grow learning thus skill. Your work is appreciated!!! Your just a gem for helping us.
This is absolutely the BEST salsa I've ever had. This is my second season using your salsa recipe after an entire year filled with compliments from guests who tried it. Thank you so much for sharing!! You might want to think about a Mama Hoss Salsa line!!

Thank you so much for this recipe. I’m gonna try it this summer. One thing I learned from Rose red Homestead is when I take my bands off I always use a bottle brush and wash around the rims and rinse and dry off before I store them just in case I had some siphoning, it has kept ants out of my pantry since I’ve started doing that.
Love salsa and love your clear concise instructions. This looks delicious. There’s just nothing like hearing that ping and knowing you’ve made something good for your family.
I made this last week and it is excellent! Thank you! Mine had too much water in it, guessing from my frozen tomatoes but I kept skimming off the top and added an extra tomato paste to help thicken it. Still tasted delicious! Next time I will add more jalapeños but that’s just a preference.
Thank you so much, I'm growing Red Snapper and Bella Rosa first time this year, seed from Hoss Tolls - doing great in Michigan, I'll leave that review after I harvest. I'm very intersted in canning and love salsa and have enjoyed the cooking videos from you. I may use a few more hotter peppers myself, and I do like you recipe. Thank you for showing me how you can salsa.
Well done video! Thank you. I am going to taste mine before I put it in the jars however so if I need to adjust something I can. I can hardly wait to use your recipe. I live at five thousand feet altitude so I am sure I will have to add more time for processing.
Looks Amazing! Great Instructional video! I will try this when my tomatoes and peppers come into season. Do you have a recipe for Stewed Tomatoes? Thanks so much!
thank you. I am a newbie and was just going to use the ms wages salsa mix, but now I will add all of your recommendations! I have 1 question. I already froze most of my tomatoes. I am not sure what to expect once I thaw them - do you know if I'll be able to do this recipe after I thaw my tomatoes? I will probably have 30 pounds more from the garden, but I cant seem to get 30 pounds ripe all at once.
@@gardeningwithhoss Amazon has different sizes. Some are 4 oz which looked to be smaller than the one you used. They also had an 11 oz which looks to be larger. If possible, if you have another package at home, could you please look and see what size it is. Thank you so much!!
Can you be more specific on the peppers you use and the amounts? I couldn't hear you in the video when you were talking about the pepper types and how many.
I use a variety of sweet, medium and jalapeno's. It is usually according to what I have growing in the garden. Always use banana and jalapeno's for sure. 6 cups of chopped peppers
I have an easier way to get the skin off tomatoes. Cut them in half, removing hard cores with the knife as you go. Lay cut side down on a cookie sheet and put under the broiler until the skin starts to crinkle. Let cool and with fingers slip the skin off once they are cooked. I usually sit at the table and fill 4 cookie sheets at once. Then it only takes about 5 min to broil them. Then I sit back at the table to get skins off. 3asy on my back and feet and no hot steaming water in my kitchen.
I don't think many people realize how much better making salsa from your own tomatoes is. Tomato sauce and all is just better from your own garden.
Yes it is
Comes from hands of love 😉

Hi Ms Hoss, do you have a favorite recipe for homemade tomato paste ?
No I’ve never done paste
Do you have to add sugar?
no
@@gardeningwithhoss awesome thanks. I'm going to use this recipe
On the lemon juice, how much per jar? I got cornfused at what you said....lol
1 tablespoon, but we use Lime juice in our salsa
@@gardeningwithhoss thanks!!
Lemon or lime juice?
you can use either, I prefer lime with salsa.
I'm curious why the processing time is more than 15 minutes? Is it because you had it under a lower heat? I'm worried things would be too mushy? 🤷♀️
Just the way I have done it for over 20 years and always turns out great.
@@gardeningwithhoss ok good to know
How many pounds of tomatoes did you use?
Not sure on the exact pounds, but was a 5 gallon bucket full of tomatoes

It is hard on the old back.
You left out lime juice in the ingredients list. 👍🏻
I've never seen or heard of a corer.always used knives.
Absolutely not necessary to take skin off especially if it’s chunky.
Excellent recipe! Thank you!!
