All aboard on this. Every show starting with OC or Mox is getting old. Even this week they may have started with a talk segment but the first match was Mox again and its just so tiring. Garcia sucks and I don't see why anyone gives a shit.. i will say Jericho has a place as long as it isn't main and even though the FTW is unsanctioned its still something Jericho shouldn't be a part of.

If AEW was always doing these ratings, we wouldn't be talking about it today. We talk about it because we've seen the potential they had when they were averaging around 1M viewers weekly just a couple years ago. They had so many tools for success and they blew it for multiple reasons.

Logan Paul has all the inherent understanding of how pro wrestling works psychologically as Andy Kaufman along with how to pull that off with moves and body language AND his superior athletic ability.
The purest prodigy the business has ever seen (barring the Farmer Burns, Lou Thesz types that ony stories remain of their start).

The problem with tony is that he books for an audience of 2. Himself and meltzer. He will push his favorites only and even if they are not necessarily his favorite, he will push them in order to please meltzer. So he can get 5 stars from him. This is what is hurting the company.

There's that but the worst booking problem of TK is his allergic hatred for storylines.
That's a huge part of it, but there are a few other problems too. Tony likes matches a lot more then he likes storylines, which is the opposite of most wrestling fans' tastes. While most of us do like the matches, it's usually only if there is a good story behind it. There are always exceptions, but for the most part you need to give us a reason to want to see a match. I will give Tony credit for at least trying to give us storylines, but he's not at all good at it. He also overdoes everything. I use to love factions, battle royals, and tournaments, but Tony does so much of that stuff that he's made me no longer like those things. I mean, I still like them but not in AEW. Whenever I see AEW do something I actually like, I can't help but think that any other wrestling promotion would do it better.
I think Mr. T has to be considered for the greatest celeb guest of all time. He was a cultural icon at a time when a lot of America didn't have cable yet and there's nothing today to compare with that kind of famous. T was part of a main event for the first Wrestlemania which was part of WWF getting on NBC for Saturday late night at first and then a Saturday prime time network show. Hogan gets most of the credit for that but T was his partner and matched up well with the Hulk Hogan of that era. Not to mention both Hogan and T were opponents of Stallone in Rocky III. They were part of the zeitgeist of that time in a major way.

@@BobHowler - They were addressing the remark by Khan that Shaq was the greatest celeb guest wrestler ever. Mr. T would definitely fit in this category. Someone like Pete Rose wouldn't. T and Hogan put butts in seats, secured network television slots for WWF and successfully promoted and kicked off the biggest franchise in wrestling...Wrestlemania. I definitely wouldn't argue that T was anywhere as good in ring as say Logan Paul or Bad Bunny. However, if you were around before Wrestlemania and WWF on prime-time network television you'll know for sure that the impact of T, Hogan, rock & wrestling and that first Wrestlemania set the tone for the entire future of pro wrestling. If T and Hogan hadn't succeeded there wouldn't have been a worldwide platform for these more recent celebs to wrestle on.

i listen konnan and Eric and Vince podcasts i cant watch aew anymore alot of people are doing the same when AEW looses the tv deal and AEW shuts down in the next 6 months 100% the one to blame who killed AEW Tony Clown
Aew makes ppv matches and doesn't do anything to build any feud. All the TV is filler until the "great meaningless match" at ppv... then it's back to filler
Why are these constantly referred to as "great matches"? You can take almost any AEW ppv match and skip the first 15 minutes, because none of that will impact the ending, and it doesn't matter what move is done, because until they have each kicked out of finishers and begin the false finish spots, there won't be a decision. There formula is filler(mostly brawling, chops and highspots), false finish segment, finish.
This could be a preferential thing, but I don't think it's a great match when it's full of spots that show cooperation. It's not a great match when it so heavily repeats every match that preceeded it on the card. I think people mistake the slight tension, generated by false finishes, at the end of the match for it being good.
AEW Rating for 2024-06-26 was 680.000...TBBT helped a bit. The show Dynamite itself was awful.
I was just about to say "Andy Kaufman better than all those guys" and right as I was about to post it, the video got to the point where Kaufman was brought up

Seeing today TK saying 500+million people have attended 110 aew shows in 2024 made me laugh out loud and feel sad for TK.

I’ve said for years now… the biggest heel in the wrestling business today is the modern wrestling crowd. Except they have that “turn the channel-heat”. I can’t watch wrestling programming nowadays unless I’ve TiVo’d it, cuz I have to end up fast forwarding through 80% of the shows. 🤷🏾♂️

I Loved MJF but now, since his return, i've think that he turned a little into cringe, specially in his promos, no storylines, why wouldn't he return and chase all the UK Members since they helped adam cole betray him, and chase them till adam cole returns and then do the freakin match so you can close the storyline ! not just a kick in the nuts ! This is Absurd, his run is being pathetic, his promos are getting worst and worst, and tony khan makes him be like a sellsman on ring lol, and has a stupid gimmick, forget the triple h jacket, grab the scarf back !
Tony Klown basically took WCW, ECW, TNA and WWE, copied all of their flaws and none of the good stuff:
- You have the hardcore element from ECW, but all he kept was the dangerous spots and none of the logic and storytelling ECW had. Dangerous and sloppy wrestling without any substance to produce that cult -like following. He wants to be the struggling underdog, like Heyman, trying to stick it to the man, but the guy has unlimited funds, and everything handed to him. He doesn't understand that makes him the "man".
- They copied the "ATM Eric" aspect of WCW, along with giving too much power to a handful of favorite wrestlers, along with the venom towards WWE, but without the stars, great shows and competition that WCW had.
- The WWE element is this billionaire who thinks he can own people and sign them to NDAs, strips every smaller promotion of their top stars, and forces his plans down everyone's throats, despite everyone complaining and tuning out, because he knows better.
- From TNA, well they pretty much are TNA without storylines. Just goofy, over the top skits. Also run by someome who has no clue how to book, but has enough family money to be in charge.
It's kinda like if coke came out with a new soda that has that diet soda taste, but 3x the sugar and calories somehow 😂

Unless I missed something, Eric never got that video clip he wanted to show of the AEW women's 6-man tag match, but he smoothly addressed it verbally and seamlessly transitioned on to the next topic never mentioning that he wasn't getting the video he'd planned on showing. He’s only talking about shaq because he didn’t do it in the Wwe. Shaq is a legend at this point, him wrestling wasn’t as big as it would’ve been in 2001 when rapping with Aaron Carter. Tyson is the best; LT is the best wrestler athleticism wise. In terms of nostalgia/more than wrestling, it’s hard to beat Rodman walking with hulk or Karl Malone. Shaq isn’t even the best nba HOFer to wrestle

The women in WWE are like All Japan women's wrestling right now, they do crazy stuff in the ring and have better matches, longer matches, main event Pay-Per-Views, mainevent on Their brands, they have their own Royal Rumble, Hell iN the Cell, Money in the bank, elimination chamber matches...and their Japanese women wrestlers are better then their unknown female Japanese wrestlers.
And the WWE women are bigger stars then any AEW female wrestler who are only watched by 500,000 viewers...let that sink in.

If aew is forced to change, their only hope for survival is to completely change course, go more realistic, tell stories, and finally, CREATE stars. Don’t just pay other stars only to ruin them, put a genuine focus on creating wrestlers we care about and titles/objectives for us to root for him for. Right now idgaf about any Aew wrestler in the slightest, and the Jackson’s ain’t it and they’ll never be it. Any audience they once had has dwindled…. Probably to 502 thousand.
*Best* wrestlers who were already celebrities? I'd say Ernie Ladd... though, when Ernie left the Chiefs in 1969, NFL players, on average, weren't the celebrities that they are today outside of guys like maybe Joe Namath.
Shaq is definitely a much bigger star.
If they made the 2 main guys in ready to rumble TEENAGERS instead of mentality handicap grown men it would have been a great movie.

Does The Rock coming back count as a guest celebrity? He's one of the biggest movie stars in the world and he made possible one of the most successful wrestling pay per views of all time this year. I suppose he wouldn't be considered an "outside" celebrity since he made his name in wrestling first.
To be fair, I would say Logan Paul is a wrestler that is a celebrity, considering he is part of the roster now (even if as a part timer talent). Whereas, Shaq and Bad Bunny are celebrity wrestlers. But id probably agree Shaq isnt the BEST of all time but hes up there (pun intended)

I really tried to watch aew last night to give it a chance and see if I would go to forbidden door since it is close to my hometown. First segment didn’t help and by the end of the first hour I was mentally checked out. I don’t know how to explain it well but from what I saw, some moments were over stimulating while other moments were dull and cringey
Border collies are the best! If you don’t know, they’re the smartest breed in the whole world and it shows in everything they do and in their personalities. Like you’ve got to totally respect their intelligence and their ability to make decisions for themselves. We’ve had two from the time I was nine until last year.
👈My best doggie buddy Westen was a border collie, he was so smart. He lived to be 16, he passed in 2018&I still miss him every day.

No offense to Dennis Rodman, but no one got more press for a company than Mike Tyson. Mike Tyson was a massive star that did not put his name on weird shows or cartoons. His value was protected.
Shaq is a massive name, but he has also put his name on a massive amount of the dummest movies. The value of Shaq is limited and will make sero difference in the iverall ratings or business of AEW. Shaq is no Tyson.
