I'm almost 39 and I was lucky enough to delve into them when their very first single came out on the radio around 2003 (Favor House Atlantic). It wasn't really my cup of tea at the time, myself getting into the heavier sub-genres of metal, but something about how the lyrics seem to juxtapose the way he sung about the shit going on (running away from getting assassinated, but he sounded happy about it). So, I delved deeper into their second and first albums (the only ones out at the time), and their previous band Shabutie. Suffice to say, I am so glad I gave them a chance, because they are still my #1 personal favorite band after almost 20 years; they are so out of this world and inspiring, imo.
I’m 33 and have been listening to them since welcome home. Makes me so happy to see new people gettting into coheed and cambria. IMHO one of the best bands to come out of the 90s.
Claudio sure does! My favorite album is SSTB, though. "The Color Before The Sun" however I don't think is that great. Sure it has a few catchy songs, but I feel like it was their attempt to go "mainstream" and that's just not who C&C is. As long as he keeps Josh, Travis, and Zach they will always get better with time. They are all such amazing musicians and always put on one hell of a show.
It never ceases to amaze me how Claudio combines UNREAL song writing, singing, and so many musical styles and it comes out damn near perfect every time.
Man I quit listening to coheed about 10 years ago. I was obsessed with them up until then and just kinda lost interest in this style of music for a while. Recently got back into them and they’re still fucking killing it. Such a good band.
This song is so bad ass, I hadn't listen to Coheed in years until I happened back into being addicted to them again this year and discovering all their music they released since I was a die hard fan during Good Apollo 1 and 2 has been awesome
Dude. Coheed didn't go soft. It's just part of their whole style. They don't stick to a specific style. They always add something new. And this is just amazing!
so many people dont even know or like coheed so they are doing just fine by me. It's cool you enjoy the hidden gems but Coheed live has my full respect as they just jam and don't talk or build anything up. The songs you get are what you get and they're all awesome
I rememeber clicking on this randomly. I'm really picky about music. But this was one of those (really) rare cases where after the just the first listen, I loved it. Still do
Coheed and Cambria holds a special place in my heart, the same way I return to certain Emo songs that normally at this point in my life I wouldn't be listening to.
Every album, every song - I love C&C. I can't wait for my grand kids to visit one day and ask "What IS that you are listening to?!" And of course I'll reply "You kids just don't know what good music is these days."
Gravitys Union really took off for me once I realized what was going on in the song, story-wise. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the "cage, locked in perpetual motion" stuff is the wreck that Meri will be living through time-and-time again in the keywork, and that due to his deceptive explanation, only Sirus knows about. The ending is just wall-of-emotion in-yer-face. Slays me every time.
It is about Sirus returning to his planet and having his first public appearance after his experience with the Keywork. The Prise told him not to tell him that the Keywork is an afterlife. Sirus found a way to explain the Keywork without angering the Prise and getting the people to understand it.
This screams Pink Floyd. From the "Wall-esque" solo to the idea of selling out in the music industry, which was a popular theme in the Floyd's music. Can't believe I just discovered this song, especially being a Coheed fan for so long.
Having finally returned to his home world of Valencine, Sirius has a million things to think about. He’s learned a lot about the Keywork, but he’s conflicted about whether he should share it with the public, and how much he should share. Sirius talks it over with his mentor, who says that the discovery of an afterlife where admittance isn’t based on how one acts in life could cause panic and a "fundamental existential crisis". After that, he still feels conflicted about his discoveries. Then the Prise, guardians of the Keywork and those entrusted with its protection, show up at Sirius' door. They explain that what Sirius discovered was not meant to be known by man, but by them and "God" alone. They couldn’t do anything about the fact that he knew about their secret, but they said to him that if he disclosed his findings to the public, it would be considered an act of war. The day finally came when Sirius was supposed to share his findings with the public. Knowing that the Prise would make good in their threat, he lied to the public and substituted the truth with a very technical explanation of how the Keywork operates. The public is very satisfied with this explanation.
Years back a friend of mine said dude they are like a modern Pink Floyd.... Shabutie and Coheed Album 1 and Albums later i agree there was only one band like Pink Floyd and There is only One Band like Coheed and Cambia.. Ilove a lot of different types of music but this band is the best for me by far!
I don't know about that, but Descension is very good. I've heard 4 songs so far, all of them powerful and sound completely different from eachother. That is what makes a great Coheed album, songs with a wide variety of vibes and tone.
most importantly Coheed hasnt sold out to get fame like other bands! They stay true and do thier own thing no matter who likes it... so thanks coheed for keeping to your style!
In the hard cover Claudio explains that its about what Coheed has always been about: making meaningful music. He says "The need for validation from those who don't like us was never a concern because making music for them wasn't the catalyst to do it in the first place. The music we create is simply a result of what we are at any given moment. I'd rather just keep doing what we do and understand that if it continues to resonate within our audience it just means we're doing something right"
Coheed & Cambria have continued to nurture and grow the elements that set them apart from their contemporaries, namely their eclectic influences. Years back I used to try to imagine where they'd go and how they'd evolve and this isn't far off from what I hoped to hear. I like how they've evolved.
I love the pain in his voicw at the end "I stood by everything I loved." And after anger, it starts to sound like he's giving up and giving in like him standing by his convictions were pointless.
I'm almost 39 and I was lucky enough to discover C&C when their very first single came out on the radio around 2003ish (Favor House Atlantic). It wasn't really my cup of tea at the time, myself getting into the heavier sub-genres of metal, but something about how the lyrics seem to juxtapose the way he sung about the shit going on (running away from getting assassinated, but he sounded happy about it). Coheed has sooo much different styles that it's staggering. I could show a song to a person that likes chill music, a song to a person who prefers banging their head, a person that prefers old-school, and show a song from them to people that like new-school like me. I got two Amory Wars comics for christmas, awesomeness.
I couldn't even imagine all the different crap these guys have to put up with, all the different ppl wanting them to take their advice wanting them to change this and that. I'm sure they've bent a bit in some areas but I hope and truly believe they and especially Claudio will never let someone else dictate what he feels is best for coheed.
Claudio and crew never ceases to amaze me with their lyrical genius and hearty musical smorgasbord... Kudos to you for all that you do, I appreciate you all 🤟💞
In my opinion this is one Coheeds best tracks off of any album. The groovy solo gets me every time. Josh’s drumming is impeccable and Claudios vocals are so powerful.
Lucky enough for my signed copy of Descension to come 2 days early. On first listen this is my favourite song. The whole record though, words can't even describe how great it is. My favourite since Good Apollo, Vol. 1 and probably my favourite Coheed album ever.
The level of skill these guys have is unreal. They are masters of their craft, and we the fans get to reap the rewards. Coheed and Cambria, Thank you...
As far as I'm concerned Coheed keep trying new things and that's why I love them. Evagria is one of the most unique and proggy songs they've ever made and they can also write badass rock songs at the same time. I just fall more in love with them with every album.
Coheed and Cambria is all about progression. That's what makes them different from every other band, and makes them one of the greatest bands of all time. If you want to hear those songs, listen to those albums.
Ok first time admitting this but honestly c&c is basically the only music I listen too literally nothing but there discography and I've been like that for years they just the best .
...This ever-changing and progressive style, continuously moving and growing IS Claudio's style. I think that's the style that he thinks is right, that fits with his schema of things. And he brings that in Coheed, in prize fighter, in his literary works. That's what makes him a genius right man? You're right, this album is a masterpiece. ...and so are all the rest that came out before this.
All the different genre influences in this song just make it such a masterpiece. I hear some Rock, Jazz, Funk, and even a bit of Metalcore in the chorus guitar chugs!
One of little bands able to record something really good as new band. Great Powerfull band, as progressive rock. Only Congratulations. There' s light at the end of the tunnel, fortunately..
And by that, I meant they also had a hand in the creative process. This song is clearly about the band being true to themselves and not selling out to become popular like most bands strive to achieve. It's about the music, not the fame. And people are forgetting that.
Cyrus stays true to himself and what he values as opposed to giving it up to fit socieies standards. Hence theres only 1 of me and too many of you giving up urself and what you know is true to take on the false perception that society demands u need in order to fit in. Deep stuff. Props to Claudio for the concept and props to my favorite band for making it a reality. It just gets better and better. keep it comin guys!!! :)
Most immediate song on new album. New album best so far. C&C can do no wrong right now - best mix of creativity, talent, complexity and integrity on the planet.
I'd say the true power of Descension will really hit people when they listen to Ascension and Descension together. I know that's what I plan to do when it comes out.

Afterman has been out for such a long time, and I keep coming back to it! Part 2 is epic!
I am a 40 year old man who just checked this band out and I am blown away.
Same. Same.
I'm 40 and am the biggest Coheed fan alive. Welcome
So much great content. I’m 38
A hard rock verse with a metalcorish chorus, Claudio's awesome voice, and a David Gilmour influenced solo. This song has too much cool for everyone.
I don't really hear the metalcore influence. Definitely hear the hard rock tho.
David .A The chorus is really breakdown-y, sounds metalcoreish. That's probably what he means.
Brandon Webb
ah
Chris Bourland
Wow. The phrasing of the solo really does remind one of Gilmour...
I has all the cool!
I swear this band just keeps getting better.
Claudio sure does! My favorite album is SSTB, though. "The Color Before The Sun" however I don't think is that great. Okay, I can't say SSTB is my favorite. I have to include Good Apollo in that too. It's a toss up really!
As far as i know. I loved everything they made! Including the comics!
no world for tomorrow is their best album, fight me
@@rougejester no world for tomorrow was a solid ass album, the guitar licks were fucking top notch
You know what's the second best thing about Coheed? Its fans. Everytime I come across a Coheed fan theyre the nicest person youll ever know.
It never ceases to amaze me how Claudio combines UNREAL song writing, singing, and so many musical styles and it comes out damn near perfect every time.

I absolutely adored these two albums and this song specifically. Josh's drumming really sealed it for me.
This song is so bad ass, I hadn't listen to Coheed in years until I happened back into being addicted to them again this year and discovering all their music they released since I was a die hard fan during Good Apollo 1 and 2 has been awesome
Dude me too
Dude. Coheed didn't go soft. It's just part of their whole style. They don't stick to a specific style. They always add something new. And this is just amazing!
I wish coheed would play more of their less known songs live. Seeing this and evagria live would be awesom
seems even they can sell out.
@@lemonsuckerYT nah mehnnn they just forgot most of afterman stuff
so many people dont even know or like coheed so they are doing just fine by me. It's cool you enjoy the hidden gems but Coheed live has my full respect as they just jam and don't talk or build anything up. The songs you get are what you get and they're all awesome
coheed and cambria are basically the gods of modern rock
my dad showed me this song when i was dealing with a lot of people treating me like crap! And it helped a lot so this song is special to me
This is still my favourite Coheed song.
I rememeber clicking on this randomly. I'm really picky about music. But this was one of those (really) rare cases where after the just the first listen, I loved it.

This is the most Sevendust non-Sevendust song I've heard, and I love it!
Work of art, truly.
There’s something about this one
Soaring
On fire
Under water
In pain and passion and the paranoia of a broken heart.
These guys just keep being top notch. I have never heard one bad song in the last 8 years by them. UnFUCKING Believable
blood red summer album version!
Fred bruh, blood red summer is kick ass
I agree I love all their songs over the past 8 years from blood red summer to after man
Probably one of the most underrated bands of this generation. They keep rocking it and i'm loving it.

The Reason I've never stopped listening Coheed & Cambria
Unbelievable, just...no words. I'm crying with joy right now. Josh Eppard and Zachary Cooper were the best things to happen this year.
its really amazing how diverse the style of c&c is

Every coheed song is a blessing to my ears, i feel proud of being boricua and having claudi reprsent our little island coheed for life!
