  • This is heavy enough to cast on an ultralight spinning rod, but technically this is a fly for fly rods. Very simple to tie, this will be the perfect crappie jigging fly. Just find structure holding crappie and jig it, you should land a few. This will also work great below an indicator or even euro-nymphing for trout, sunfish, bass and more. It's almost like a mini jigged wooly bugger which we all know how well those work. This should work just as well if not better in some situations.
I will be using this for bass and sunfish out near San Antonio area where I live. And I will be giving you guys a video on using it over the next few weeks. The jig style will help keep me from snagging this on the bottom because it rides hook point up, and I also will be getting a nice jigging action when stripping it in. There is lots of nice movement on this fly with all the light feathers as well. Sunfish love this style of fly. It almost looks like a small damsel fly larvae or even a tiny baitfish.
