- little crappie marabou jigs are a staple for many spin fisherman when fishing for sunfish and crappie. You can buy them super cheap, but they also come apart easy and aren't much more than just marabou and chenille body. I decided to spruce up the marabou jig a bit with some additions and create my own marabou crappie jig. Let me know what you think about my variation of the marabou jig in the comment section. And let me know if you have any recommendations to make this better?
Last week I tied a similar fly but I made my own jig head with a jig hook and a bead. However many suggested trying out a regular jig you can buy at many tackle shops. So here is my attempt of tying this. The beauty of tying your own flies is that you can tailor them to your own needs. Colors, materials and lengths of materials can all be changed. You can make your own jigs how you want.

Nice! Thanks for sharing. Try this next time you do that jig.…use some diagonal cutters or wire cutters and remove that collar area behind the jig head. It will cut off pretty easy and you won’t have to worry about that bump. Take care and Merry Christmas 🎄
