  • The Green Weenie is a very simple, yet effective fly for a host of different fish. Especially sunfish and crappie. But bass and trout I hear hit them quite often as well. It really doesn't get any easier than this to tie a fly. If you are just starting out tying, this is the fly for you to try on. If you have been tying for a long while, well this still is a great fly to add to your boxes as it's quick and effective. It's not too complicated, however there are a couple tips I give in this video that can help make this easier and quicker to tie. Good luck, and I hope you all enjoy the video!

@@McFlyAngler oh yeah i did. Looks like a simple fly to tie. I need to dig out my vise and try to tie some flies. San Juan Worms, Mops and Waltz worms. I haven't tried tying the mop or waltz worm yet. Ryan(Risen) gave me pinch of two different colors of dubbing to try my luck at the walz worm

no need for the solarez with a proper whip finish

Ok that is true, but we aren’t machines and sometimes make a mistake. If you apply each time then you know it’s secure. Also, even with proper whip finishes they can come undone over time and cementing the head is one extra level of security. On non beaded flies, fish teeth can cause exposed thread to fray, so it’s a good habit to add a drop of whatever head cement you like which will help to keep that from happening. I just so happen to like solarez so I use it.

Again no need for any head cement or resin or whatever with a proper whip finish. Its a waste of time.
