I have both, and would add that if you're shooting in HD, and not 4K as I do for broadcast delivery, the FX3 delivers a significantly cleaner, richer and more detailed image than the FX30. Worth bearing in mind if you're not planning on shooting in 4K.
The FX3 has a stop more of dynamic range and better ISO performance, so it definitely has an advantage when you don't have controlled environments. Especially if you're cranking the ISO outside of the 800/2500 setting. But if you know how to work around this, it can create footage that is just as good.
For me, the FX-30 could only be a C-CAM for my particular workflow. I shoot corporate video content, sometimes b-roll is in dark warehouse. As a professional I need a camera that is versatile enough to allow me to film in dark environments such as B-Roll in a warehouse or an environment when I need extra stops of light. Even though the FX-3 cost double….my clients pay for my gear. I cannot compromise my tools when I charge the prices I charge companies.
Well said bro! I don’t find myself using the focus mapping much but definitely that and focus breathing I should try out a little more. I may check out that 15-55 f/2.8 you mentioned.
I'm an FX30 owner, and agree with your comments. Just one thing that I'm a little disappointed about, that I don't see mentioned in reviews like these. This camera is equipped with Cine-EI. To make use of it, you really need to use Sony software. Catalyst Browse is free, but it doesn't maintain your 10-bit footage, it's reduced to 8-bit. To keep 10-bit resolution you need Catalyst Prepare, which you have to rent at considerable extra expense. Not a big consideration when you're a professional, but a little bit disappointing for non-pros who've just shelled out a couple of grand.
@@dewbzki That's £105.95 per annum ad finitum here in the UK. Just to compare, Davinci Resolve which is an IMMENSE software development by comparison, is FREE or if you want AI-based functionality the Studio version is £275 as a one-off fee with free updates forever. About lens options. The proper full frame equivalent to your Sigma 18-50/2.8 would be a 24-70/4 lens, not 24-70/2.8. f/4 on a full frame camera will get you the same amount of bokeh as f/2.8 on an APS-C camera. That said, Sony 24-70/4 is still more expensive... But if you wanted to find, say, an APS-C equivalent to something like 16-35mm f/2.8, you would have to get a lens like 10-24mm f/2... Which doesn`t exist. You can use a speed booster though, but only if you don`t care about autofocus.

I want to hold and use the pz instead of using a slider which takes forever. I know about sigma and tamron, but the pz is very attractive but dont know if lightweight no oss will make me regret not getting a zoom oss but heavy 18-105 lens. Hello, and thank you for watching! I’d probably get the 18-105 because of how versatile it is. You could use that lens in many different scenarios. The FX30 is quite a bit better than the ZVE-10. If you’re just doing indoor filming at your desk the ZVE-10 and 10-20mm is a good choice though. This video was filmed on the fx3 Let me know if you have any other questions!

IF th FX30 would have been at least ISO 3200 like the A7IV, I would probably get one. I had the FX3 and sold it during the pandemic as video shoots slowed down and I got more photography jobs, so I bought an A7IV which other than the over heating I like it almost more than my FX3. I never really shot 120 p4K at all and found 12.800 iso almost more of a PIA bc I had to add so much ND when I need just maybe 3200 or 6400 tops. I also never shoot super low light. Trying to hold out to see what DJI will bring to the table soon with a mirrorless camera or for a new FX3II or FX30II. I am back to shooting almost 99% video jobs and sure could use that fan and cinema based dials. I just cannot see myself pulling the trigger for an FX3 when I already had it and they are to even find where I live.
You think this would be able to hang with capturing live bands? Is the af comparable to an a7iii? Hard to get straight answers on what it can do, also your vids with it are beautiful
You should have compared the FX30 price of $2198 not $1798 to the FX3’s price of $3899. FX3 comes with XLR handle where as you have the option to get or not get the XLR handle with the FX30.
You forgot to mention that "Reason No 7" does not work with your favorite Sigma 18-50, as with others third party lenses. You should use Sony native lenses only for this feature.
Thankfully breathing is really minimal on the Sigma 18-50, breathing compensation is to cover for lenses Sony has favored for photographic performance over video performance.
