That attack run starting at 28:43 is epic, that Me-262 went by the B-17 so insanle fast,
Can you imagine the fear the ME-262 must have brought.. Here's a plane with no propellers and faster than anything you've ever seen before with 4 20mm. Would have seemed like science fiction at the time.

Man, I subbed a few month ago, and every time I watch your videos, I think the same thing : thank you, and your pals, for reviving this good ol' game (or keeping it alive, through the years). Enhanced graphics, due to passionate community modders, enhanced players' skill, due to years of gaming, and globally enhanced performance and render, due to next generation computers (compared to the year the game was released). I don't know if Oleg often watches RUclips, but if he ever comes across your videos, i'm sure he'll be glad to see what his original game has become.
By the way, I'm going to re-install Il2, train a little bit and contact you through steam : I want to be part of it - again !

Beautiful attack runs with that hell of a plane but very shocking from the perspective of the B-17's :O
It just shows the sheer scale of the problems Germany faced despite having an aircraft like the 262. I remember being at Duxford cutting to one of the museum staff and was told the allies would put 750 bombers up on a raid, overwhelming odds, what must it have been like for German civilians...........

@@reid1283 Trust me, i have. So i suggest you read about the fuel and the engine of the Me 163 (wich was prone to explode from the smallest thing).

I accidentally had my sound settings way too loud when I resumed to the video while the camera was behind the B-17...that sound vibrated my entire flat, epic. Just epic, if you have a good sound system, use it on those bombers!
And btw, I can't watch Me-262 anymore without remembering you landing one on a battleship turret... :-D

Really love your videos. Il-2 1946 can be a great sim even almost two decades after it's release. The scope of simulation provided by the modding community of the old 46 is unsurpassed by any modern sim.
One suggestion: what about a hypothetical jet vs jet melee, like Me 262s vs Meteors or P-80s?

It must have been small comfort for many Luftwaffe pilots that the 262 was so effective,knowing full well that it won’t be enough,particularly when the logistics are factored in,fuel,spare parts,trained ground crew and pilots were scarce,airfields were under constant attack and the war in the east was moving relentlessly closer.However bleak the situation was the Luftwaffe stayed in the fight, but with ever dwindling numbers,by March 1944 the Luftwaffe had lost over 42% of its frontline fighters and 20% of its experienced pilots,by D-Day 6 june the Luftwaffe could no longer provide an effective defense,after the “Bodenplatte” operation the Luftwaffe was decimated and crippled beyond repair….

Makes me wonder why every jet pilot didn’t become ace of aces - 7 kills per sortie, dude!
Pretty much all initial Me262 pilots were already aces, that's why they were assigned to the best plane in the airforce in the first place since that machine was tricky to handle.
Bcs you didnt get as much time to get kills bcs the war was ending and you had a huge disadvantage to pilots earlier in the war bcs in late war you get shot by AA everyehere since germany doesnt own shit anymore and it will probably be you and maybe 5 others against 200 bombers and 50 fighters.
After Germany ran out of quality steel, the engines could only use afterburner for around 6 minutes of combat time. Not over an hour like in the video lol.
@@MistahFox sorry, but the Jumo engines had no "afterburners" at all ;-) That's why the ME-262 sometimes used additional auxilary (solid fuel) rockets which were dropped after they became airborne.
You mix up ME-262 and ME163...

There would be more Allies bomber and crew losses and the Luftwaffe might be able to regain an air superiority on some area.
But ultimately, they would still lose the war. More ME262 mean that they can delay it a little longer and that's it.

The 262s engines had a short operational life. Logistical nightmare. Hard to fly. Caused more problems for the Luftwaffe than the USAAF
@@DannyBoy777777yep, 50 hours of flight before an engine was written off completely apparently. Aside from that the engine throttle could not be lowered quickly, it had to be done gradually, which meant the landing sequence of Me-262s was very long and the aircraft was very vulnerable during this process. Escorting P-51s took notice and started following the 262s to their bases and hit them as they were landing. They couldn't keep up, but if they knew where the jet was going they knew they would catch them. The Germans had to counter this tactic by sending up regular FW-190 and Me-109 fighters to escort the Me-262s to safety. Kind of nuts tbh.

thats because A, the game is from 2006, and B, because the B-17 isnt actually playable in-game, thats a mod.

They always did. During the Korean War, B-29 bomber tail gunners got the second most amount of kills, second only to the F-86. They tallied those.

Yeah, it was called C-1 Autopilot. The bombardier could control the aircraft's movement with the bombsight.

Throttle up slowly. Early jet engines were very sensitive

@@Fishyyy ok, follow up question. Why were the 262s not more effective then? Two of you took out 20 or so bombers with ease.
DF and me are virtual pilots with thousands of hours of experience, sitting relaxed in our chairs. We also only show the times we succeed. There were times when we were just shot down without getting any kills. Honestly, if you do the maths, with our group, like one in 10 262s even gets off the ground, lol.
