OMG! You're moving ! Congratulations. You timed that weather window perfectly. You couldn't get calmer seas. Beautiful. Must be a little hard being in the DR for so long, and having to leave the friends you made. To " new adventures ".
Looking back in which shape the boat arrived and all the work and trouble you went through, closing that chapter and leaving with a fully repaired boat must have felt unreal.
Great video guys.. woww, I've made that crossing many times and never seen it as flat as this. Foxy was adorable and looked like she was enjoying herself. Crack on !!!
To be honest they have gone DOWN! It was too easy in the DR to order things off Amazon, to go out for a meal (even though it’s cheap it would add up) We have so far saved money by coming to The Bahamas. Neither of us drink and we like cooking at home. We went to a beach bar the other day for a Coca-Cola and our bill was only $5. And we had 3 take aways cokes 😆
Your time in Luperon rather reminds me, in a really nerdy way, of when Dr Who broke his dematerialisation circuit and was stuck in 1970’s London 😂. Delighted to see you back on the move. Fair winds (although I know you left a while ago). 👍
😂 love it! Yes our insta and Facebook is more up to date. Only about a month behind in videos but gives us more freedom if we don’t have service to upload
Good luck. I have seen where you don’t really gain that much speed from running both engines. So to conserve fuel you maybe able to alternate engines. Just a suggestion.
Complaint !!! What sort of sailing channel is this ??? Nothing went wrong !!!!!! 😂😂 Seriously , so glad you are on your way , should be able to get a mast in the Bahamas !! Great speed to be averaging too ..... Keep up the great vids !!
Cargo straps with hooks have one disadvantage, in bad weather, especially with the cushion, the hooks may pop out of the eye. This can be easily avoided by using some steel wire to secure the hooks to the eye. Have a good and safe trip!
You could put another strape around bottom part of the metal seat where stear from and i hope the foil drum does not fall through fibraglass floor of your boat .
If you had a mast and sails you could have saved quite a bit of $$$ on fuel. It may take a couple years to pay for itself though. I keep thinking of resale if you ever wanted or needed to upgrade it could be tough without a sail rig.
Hey awesome, u both look a lot less stressed, ? Is that a life vest on puppy or a coat, she seems to be settling the longer u travel so good she's happy. Are u going to rerig her for sailing, sorry I may have missed that bit. I wish I was there but thanks for sharing, be safe be happy and Enjoy u both deserve this. 🇦🇺🐕🍺🌈
Am I the only one that thinks the boat seems to be ploughing and riding low at the bow? Maybe because you stored all the beer up there? I just worry that in rough seas you will be burying the bow.
We’ve been alcohol free for nearly 4 months. Wanting to live a healthier lifestyle …. Plus all the money we save on alcohol goes towards food and fuel!
Unfortunately it’s not in the budget at the moment. Plus finding a good second hand mast is not easy. Also not sure if we want a mast. Might want to do something different with this boat!
Could feel the warmth of the sun as Captain Dave stood there at the helm - lovely! Happy crossing guys.
Thank you!!

Yes it was bittersweet! But happy for a change in scenery!
Wow that's awesome, no major issues. So happy for the both of you 👍🚢 happy sailing ☺️
Thanks!
@@BarefootTravels no prob, be safe have fun 👍😎
You did it, Congrats!
Thank you!
Safe travel.
You can see that the two of you are in your 7th heaven being on the move to a new place. I'm very excited for you. Safe sailing.
Thank you!!
Yes I agree ☝️ but where’s the fishing rod ?
We didn’t fish on that crossing. We were getting back into the swing of things and making sure Foxy was okay too.
That seemed like a beautiful crossing. Looking forward to the adventures this next chapter of your Life brings.
Thank you!!!
Awesome 👌
🎉
Good on ya...
Thanks
Looking back in which shape the boat arrived and all the work and trouble you went through, closing that chapter and leaving with a fully repaired boat must have felt unreal.
It really did!! Felt amazing
congrats on your hard work!
Thank you

It was PERFECT weather!
Says says hi to Apollo!
@@BarefootTravels - Apollo says hi right back... safe travels..
Super cool so happy for you both after all the hard work what a recompense it must be xxxx
Thanks!
So glad for you!! New beginnings in the Bahamas!!
Thank you!!
Great to see you’re on the move again, leaving the DR is gonna be a good move but I think your costs are going to up a bit!!
To be honest they have gone DOWN! It was too easy in the DR to order things off Amazon, to go out for a meal (even though it’s cheap it would add up)

Definitely appears to ride the waves differently without the mast and sails. Exciting times.
Thanks!
Woohoo 🎉 Have a great trip! Cheers 🍻
🎉
Can't wait to see all the fun you have in the Bahamas! On the move again is awesome.
Feels so good to be on the move! Finally!

Great to see you guys moving you need one of those portable fuel bladders and get rid of that Barrel
lol 😆 would love to get rid of the barrel
Congrats on your repaired boat's first sail. I can't believe it when I think of those huge gashes down the side and now it is running great. 🍻
Thank you! Yes it’s been a long journey but we’re super pleased
Bon voyage! I hope you put the hook and line out. Did you run both engines all the way? Safe trip.
Yes we ran both engines! No fishing. Getting used to the boat and having Foxy 🐶 aboard!
🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻 thank you !! You guys are Awsome after a stressful night your video makes me happy and excited that one day I’ll be there too
Thank you so much!!
Good luck. I have seen where you don’t really gain that much speed from running both engines. So to conserve fuel you maybe able to alternate engines. Just a suggestion.
We only get about 5 knots with one. With both we get 6.5-7 which definitely makes a difference
Great to see you on the move. Hope you have some great dive vids from the Bahamas.
Cheers!!!

😆 I know right nothing went wrong for once!!!

Wow. We rarely see cruisers wearing life jackets. So good to see. As expert divers you probably know a thing or two about surviving in the water...
We do wear them on big open water crossings. Especially as we have foxy aboard too
You could put another strape around bottom part of the metal seat where stear from and i hope the foil drum does not fall through fibraglass floor of your boat .
I think the idea of getting a kite for the boat as opposed to rigging new mast sounds interesting. Have you researched further?
Yes. We love the idea so far
If you had a mast and sails you could have saved quite a bit of $$$ on fuel. It may take a couple years to pay for itself though. I keep thinking of resale if you ever wanted or needed to upgrade it could be tough without a sail rig.
We haven’t actually spent too much on fuel compared to the cost of a rig.
Congratulations.finally on the move .enjoy .what ever happened to little sister ????
Thank you! They are still in luperon

She seems pretty good to be honest. Maybe just the camera angle. We were full on water. No beer on this boat.
@@BarefootTravels how can you swallow your Ship's Biscuit and Salt Beef without a tankard or two of small beer?
☺
We’ve been alcohol free for nearly 4 months. Wanting to live a healthier lifestyle …. Plus all the money we save on alcohol goes towards food and fuel!
until now i thought you were a sailboat, wow
Hurricane damaged catamaran. Rebuilding through covid was not easy. Very slow process.
Are you guys going to put a mast back on the boat or are you just going as a motorboat?
We’re thinking of doing something different. However mast or our idea we need to be state side. So for now the worlds slowest power cat
Need a mast sail is so peacfull and cheaper lol
😆 sailing = the most expensive way to get anywhere for free
What is economy like with engines only?
Actually not too bad doing about 6/7 miles to the galleon.
Why didn’t you try to set up a sail with a tiny little mast and sort of sailing system …. Would have been cool too no .
When you y'all start to look for mast?
Unfortunately it’s not in the budget at the moment. Plus finding a good second hand mast is not easy.
Also not sure if we want a mast. Might want to do something different with this boat!
I am curious, what is the fuel burn rate per engine per hour ?
Just over a galleon an hour running both engines. Cruising around 7 knots. Running the engines at 2100 rpm
Two yanmar 30 engines
Crack on shorty
Cheers
Lol try buying that much fuel in tanks in s car in europe!!!
