    OMG! You're moving ! Congratulations. You timed that weather window perfectly. You couldn't get calmer seas. Beautiful. Must be a little hard being in the DR for so long, and having to leave the friends you made. To " new adventures ".

    • @BarefootTravels
      @BarefootTravels  2 года назад +2

      To be honest they have gone DOWN! It was too easy in the DR to order things off Amazon, to go out for a meal (even though it’s cheap it would add up)
      We have so far saved money by coming to The Bahamas.
      Neither of us drink and we like cooking at home. We went to a beach bar the other day for a Coca-Cola and our bill was only $5. And we had 3 take aways cokes 😆

    Your time in Luperon rather reminds me, in a really nerdy way, of when Dr Who broke his dematerialisation circuit and was stuck in 1970’s London 😂. Delighted to see you back on the move. Fair winds (although I know you left a while ago). 👍

    Good luck. I have seen where you don’t really gain that much speed from running both engines. So to conserve fuel you maybe able to alternate engines. Just a suggestion.

    • @BarefootTravels
      @BarefootTravels  2 года назад

      We only get about 5 knots with one. With both we get 6.5-7 which definitely makes a difference

    Cargo straps with hooks have one disadvantage, in bad weather, especially with the cushion, the hooks may pop out of the eye. This can be easily avoided by using some steel wire to secure the hooks to the eye. Have a good and safe trip!

    • @BarefootTravels

    You could put another strape around bottom part of the metal seat where stear from and i hope the foil drum does not fall through fibraglass floor of your boat .

  • @schmidtfjs

    I think the idea of getting a kite for the boat as opposed to rigging new mast sounds interesting. Have you researched further?

    • @BarefootTravels

      Yes. We love the idea so far

    • @DavidM-sx5gp
      @DavidM-sx5gp 2 года назад

      If you had a mast and sails you could have saved quite a bit of $$$ on fuel. It may take a couple years to pay for itself though. I keep thinking of resale if you ever wanted or needed to upgrade it could be tough without a sail rig.

    • @BarefootTravels
      @BarefootTravels  2 года назад

      We haven’t actually spent too much on fuel compared to the cost of a rig.

    Am I the only one that thinks the boat seems to be ploughing and riding low at the bow? Maybe because you stored all the beer up there? I just worry that in rough seas you will be burying the bow.

    • @BarefootTravels
      @BarefootTravels  2 года назад

      She seems pretty good to be honest. Maybe just the camera angle. We were full on water. No beer on this boat.
