Friendly reminder that the blue whale, on average, is double the length of this beast. Yes it lacks the ferociousness, but arent we lucky to be living amongst such amazing giants?
Fantastic! Always a delight to hear Sir David Attenborough as well.

The man is a marvel. So lucid so endlessly curious. And a voice that is delightful to imitate! Oh how you reveal such beasts and bones to us. We praise you ❤
No matter how fearsome land animals can get, they will never top just how terrifying marine life can be 😨
And there are more marine creatures yet to be discovered.
Right?? It’s terrifying!!!😂🤣🙋♀️♥️I love these videos!!
That's only true if you don't count the small ones - spiders, insects (mantids) etc. They are pretty terrifying as well.
@@blucat4 we’re just in the ocean right now… none of those guys yet, but thanks🤪🙋♀️

Educating us at this ripe old age. Grateful for your service Sir David Attenborough 👍
He's a globalist climate cultist schill.
Lizard people
he's repeating the information given to him by paleontologists - he's just the 'marketing agency'
He is a smooth talking bs agent telling you lies.
Imagine disliking this man for his genuine talent in explaining things about our natural world to the masses, despite his decades long career, studying and traveling himself. Sir David Attenborough is a rare gem and the best possible example of human curiosity and charity towards the cultivation of knowledge. Don't mind the haters. Sending love from Los Angeles, CA
Sir David Attenborough is itself a great miracle of human nature.
Well spoken :-)
Since he is probably one of the most respected people on the planet, I wonder if someone, somewhere, is working on using AI to create something that could simulate his voice after he passes away.
Bless him, and may he continue to open the natural world for us!
Good idea! @@Texas40years
Simply an outstanding voice! Very informative and soothing at the same time.
Earliest I’ve been here and this is new to me. Seeing David doing paleontology is a child dream of mine
He's done it for ages.
@@red_life_redemption and now I’m watching it. Haven’t seen his documentaries for awhile, so it’s time I get back to it
@@riceboycruz1300 Nice
He has plesiosaurs named after him for Pete's sake!
I love your work Sir David Attenborough and BBC Earth, thank you 🫡
It's rare for pliosaurs to appear in video productions, so I'm glad to see this one.
Lol..
Lol
Lol
It's what makes this find so special :) it will be on display here at our museum from the 2nd January!
@@e4t662 Walking with dinosaurs is the master of paleontological mistakes, and the mistake that i hate the most is depicting the Liopleurodon as a 25 meters titan, when in reality the Liopleurodon was much smaller and only 7,1 meters long, with 5,6 and 6,3 for the typical size
Don't listen to Walking with dinosaurs, is a master of paleontological inaccuracies
Sir David Attenborough is 97 years old! and still releasing masterpieces, may God add him 10 more years of my life
Imagine! Being that old and still so full of total bs! Amazing!

@@garnet4846 So like I assumed, you don’t even know. Got it.
@@shanepierce2330 how many times do you need it explained to you? This stuff is half a step away from being ancient aliens, and it has just as much scientific proof to back it up.
Ever since the ancient times, oceans have been just big bowls of monster soup. Beautiful and scary at the same time.
I always referred to T Rex as the Pliosaurus of the land.
We love this!
Paleontology will always be one of the most fascinating studies ever ❤
David Attenborough just has so many things to say and he’s the best man to care about nature. Which means the ecosystems will be at even more risk of being destroyed when he’s gone.
Sorry I disagree. The guy prefaces everything he says with a dire warning about climate change. Man, not climate, has done more to alter the course of modern ecosystems. Specifically, population growth has put tremendous pressure on wild animals. For him to harp on climate change and not population growth is a travesty
@@CBCycles I’m sorry, I’m certain everyone has forgotten it’s because of man kind that the animal kingdom was in decline of 60%. Man would poach, overhunt, kill everything. It’s man’s fault millions of species are endangered heavily. Without them, without David, we could lose all the other majestic creatures. Man throws trash into the oceans STILL TO THIS DAY. I’m certain everyone has forgotten about this in today’s generation cuz in all honesty, what left is there to care with this generation?
@@CBCycles - He's not shifting the blame, it's just one step removed: the human population boom and all that comes with it is expediting the climate change. This is common knowledge, and doesn't have to be specified every time you mention it.
He's talking about man-caused climate change, as well as man's other alterations to ecosystems, such as pollution, agriculture, invasive species, and direct overhunting and poaching, etc.@@CBCycles
Does he have any kids, or is he mentoring anyone? Perhaps one or more of them could take up the baton. I am sure that besides the people he works with directly, he has inspired many to study biology, ecology, and wildlife and botanical conservation, as well as ways to reform agricultural and animal husbandry practices.
One reason to force us to believe is your golden voice. Love you from Nepal.
Sir David Attenborough is always great as narrator of any documentary wether animal documentary or Dinosaur and prehistoric creature documentary like this one. It's about the great apex predator, one of the ultimate marine reptile during Jurassic ocean, Pliosaur 😊.
JESUS will love him a lot cos HE is an animal lover.
@@liliantan2379 David Attenborough is great narrator all of time. His voice seems completely appreciate the animal, prehistoric creature and nature.
@liliantan2379 except like most intellectuals he is an atheist.
I could be floating in the ocean with one of these things about to eat me. As long as Sir David Attenborough is narrating the experience, I would be okay with it.
Lmao ur funny, ima subscribe
It's going to be such a terrible day when we eventually lose this amazing man.
When I saw that behemoth I thought "is this another Liopleurodon", but this monster makes Liopleurodon look like a Tiger Shark, small in comparison!
Sir Attenborough could narrate a moving glacier and it's still fascinating.
An amazingly fierce, prehistoric creature.
To be such a massive aquatic predator really shows that during that time. Ferocious animals that were quite large was the norm in that time period
❤Ahh, the best Narrator of bbc earth! 🌍 💗🫶🏼

Sir David Attenborough is adored worldwide; especially here across the pond.

Now take a look at Joe Biden LOL
This looks really impressive and really breathtaking and David Attenborough could easily pull it off, just as amazing as Prehistoric Planet.
I love his narration
Brilliant to see Sir David here, and what an amazing creature these guys are digging out here. The graphics make the thing all too real, I mean, just imagine this little fella swimming under YOUR boat..
Happy New Year to Sir David and all the team! ⭐👍
Just one issue can we stop comparing every big predator we see to a Tyrannosaurus. The comparison thing is getting annoyingly old.
Long live sir david attenborough
David Attenborough’s voice is like the English equivalent of Morgan Freeman. I can listen to his voice all day 👌
I would say it's the other way round ... David has been doing this since the 50's 😊😊..in fact he began a decade before Morgan Freeman ever appeared on film !!!!
@@WyreForestBiker never knew that, very interesting. Either way, as an American, the English accent was always my favorite, Attenborough’s voice is awesome 😁
He has a great story telling voice
ultimate marine predator?...mosasaur has entered the chat...
mosasaurus is smaller
also orcas are probably the ultimate marine predator
@@red_life_redemption i mean, they have pack hunting, human-level intelligence, combined with size and strength
@@red_life_redemption - What suggests they were more effective hunters? I don't think their success ratio has been established, but we know how successful orcas are.
@@Ledinosour673 orca's smaller than mosasaur - this is talking about individuals, is it not?
@@zenmaster24 well, the pliosaur is the same size if not bigger than the mosasaur
also the sperm whale is a LOT bigger than the mosasaur
mosasaur: 15 tons
pliosaur: 18 tons

SIR ATTENBOROUGH IS A LIVING LEGEND ...
I could be floating in the ocean with one of these things about to eat me. As long as Sir David Attenborough is narrating the experience, I would be okay with it.
It must be depressing for Sir David Attenborough to have everybody commenting on his immanent death. But it will be a loss for sure.
i'm seeing that they have corrected the 12 meter estimate and decreased the size to a smaller 10 meters, wich is a lot closer to the estimates i have obtained from scaling the skull from other pliosaurs
good job BBC!
Really looking forward to seeing this
I caught one of these but it snapped my line.
What a magnificent and terrifying predator! Especially terrifying if you're swimming in the sea.
What species of pliosaur are they talking about? Pliosaurus maybe?
The Nephilim giants were more terrifying than any dinosaur, land or marine.
These humanoid giants would've been anywhere from 30ft to 450ft in height, possess high intellect, and super natural strength.
The humans who loved alongside of them, would've worshipped them as gods...except for Noah.
Short strong neck big teeth .!!! 😂 Basically the prime " Mike Tyson" of the sea
😂
Beautifully made ❤
Pretty cool David Attenborough is still around. I’m glad.
Thank you, such a wonderful find and to have Sir David to narrate it too.
0:01 dats cool
It is so nice of David Attenborough to teach us about the wildlife that existed when he was a wee lad.
may attenborough find a way to live forever
Where did Attenborough get his hands on my wedding video?
Just love listening to him ❗️❗️❗️👏👍👍
Unbelieveble,,,i love this video ,history and educational
well thats terrifying
Um, are double decker busses longer than regular buses? Kinda silly to specify double decker bus (twice) when using it to describe length.
It's probably because buses come in all kinds of lengths. School buses, mini buses, those shorter town buses... whereas a double decker is more standard. You don't get mini double deckers for instance.
Yeah, I was thinking the same. Why a double-decker bus? Maybe a railway carriage.
It so, beautifull!
Something that always kind of terrified me is that most of the ancient sea creatures we know of are air breathers, or surface hunters like megaladon or helicoprion, so we have virtually no knowledge of what lived in the depths and oceanic trenches in ancient times. And chances are, we might never know due to the extreme depths and how difficult it would be to conduct archeological excavations down there.
Beutifulle discovrey 🦖🦖🦕🦕
Bad enough as it is that the sea is eroding the cliff face away at an astonishing rate, that you have to help it along.. Because that's being responsible isn't it... ERRRR NOT.
Deep water and darkness are some of man's primal fears. Combine them with a scary jaw and you have a nightmare of nightmare proportions.
I can try to defend myself on land but in the water I try not to think about it.
We need more programs from BBC earth! Great video. Would love to a video from BBC Earth that addresses overpopulation, famine, and the consequences of both.
There is no telling what pre historic animals may still exist in the Abyss of the deepest parts of the ocean, the parts where no man has gone
Nice One 🤭 let's say 100 feet long there out there 🤔
God I want to watch this so bad. Anyone know when available in us?
For some reason I thought that two the fish in the thumbnail was the eyes of an anime girl with white hair 🤣
like the Mosasaurus
How did they breath?
Like whales or crocodiles, holding thier breath
they breathed out of water
Happy Snowfurfee when you have a magical night and all your dreams come true I wish everyone more great fame and fortune
🥶StayFurfee🥶
and in other shows, the mosasaur is the ultimate marine hunter, and then tens of millions of years later it was the megalodon, aye Dios mio.
I got 8 of these delivered yesterday to my park in Jurussic World Evolution 2.
If you love dinosaurs/Jurussic Park- the game is a wet dream.
Highly recommend it!!
When will we be able to see the entire documentary in the United States?
Had this this before - so fantasy
What is "fantasy" about the physical remains of a physical corpse of a physical creature being excavated?
Ah, the grey cliffs of Dorset.
Looks kinda like a big croc.
yeah
big croc lookalikes
It has all been said about Mr Attenborough! It's all wonderful and true. Thank you sir wherever you are today!
So in other words it was the same size as the modern day Orca or killer whale.
Será história do passado ou é história de dinossauros no tempo de antigamente pelo visto é uma grande descoberta
As a big fan of Sir David Attenborough, i will be seeing this documentary. Generally the mosasaur is called as the t-rex of the sea.
Sir David is a national treasure
World treasure...a gift to the world
I love him so much, that I do parodies and mockumentaries about him. You have to love someone, to imitate them well.
There are plenty of people who do great Trump impressions but I gather he’s not all that popular.
The guy who discovered the bones first should have his name also added to the title
What documentaries series was that?
Yes! I love David, lol,he has allways educated me😊 also my hubby with PHD 😊 from mara❤👋👩🦼🙋♀️🤩
Does this mean Nessie is back yet again ?
What show is this?
He’s actually floating over Doggerland…
Sir David your a good man
Bro is causing sailing over those creatures.
Hell yea
I rather be killed by molten lava then be stranded in the middle of the ocean
What an undertaking...phew.
Why can’t Sir David Attenborough live for another 98 more years? It won’t be the same once he leaves
This is why I don't ride boat in sea because of sharks
On that ship talking is one of nature’s greatest achievements. A magnificent specimen of academia.
I hope they have his voice prerecorded (with permission if course) so that we can continue to hear his voice in the far future
Music ia so upbeat though
*Fun fact: on average they spoke 5 different languages.*
Very nice CGI showing the pliosauer swimming beneath his feet 00:27 - 00:33 and 00:44 - 00:55.
Pliosaurus
I think Pliosaurus is the genus, while Pliosaur is an individual animal. But you made me look. Lol @@raihanfarrelofficial
A little irony comes to mind here -- when Sir David mentions "Jurassic," I think of the Jurassic Park pictures, the first of which featured his own brother, the late Sir Richard Attenborough, prominently as John Hammond, the founder of the said park. No doubt that idea occurs to many of you who are viewing this fascinating footage. Enjoy!
Why compare it to a Double-Decker bus? An Orcas about 30ft.
Only the biggest in the world reach that length, an average orca is closer to 20.
I spose cuz it would be comparing it to something else most people have never seen first hand so what would be the point. The bus is to give people a reference they've all experienced.
I've always wondered just how it is they know England or whatever used to be around the equator
Those cliffs contain A LOT of small marine animal fossils. They are very similar to ones of today that live ONLY in tropical waters.
