    The fish's ability is insane, but you should never underestimate birds! Our crew got on camera another "super fish" that may not look that special, but it's a super-intelligent fish. The footage we got proved to us that the archerfish is a genius in math and physics. They make complex calculations about light refracting in water before shooting down prey with fast water jets. Even at 2 meters away, it's quite exciting to see it!

      Fish brains are closer to analog computers than digital computers. In WW2 we used simple analog computers for the same thing that these fish do, ballistic trajectories. Prior to microchips we had to do these things without doing lots of complex calculations.

      It must've been incredible watching all of this unfold in person. The amount of times it had to have happened for them to know where to look to get the shot must've been awesome.

    Absolutely stunning, the camerawork and editing is insane but that fish is truly incredible. Seeing it hunt down that bird while it was flying was a piece of art, dark yet jaw-dropping.

    I cannot even imagine the amount of time and patience it must of took to get all those amazing shots. David has an amazing gift of story telling along with insightful narration. That is unequaled and keep me captivated. As well as this amazing fish that follows flying birds while underwater!
    Who would have thought that at least along this portion of ocean the role of predator and prey is reversed.

    The beautiful & dark side of Nature... That last scene where that young bird saved himself after parents push is epic... Emotional music with a lot of suspense and no competition to narration of sir David Attenborough...also superb work by the camera man

      Nature has a way of showcasing both the beautiful and dark sides of life. In the scene you mentioned, the young bird's survival after being pushed by its parents was truly remarkable. The emotional music and suspenseful atmosphere created an unforgettable moment that was enhanced by Sir David Attenborough's narration.     I remember when this first aired i loved every minute of it. The amount of work and time that has gone into capturing all of this magnificent footage and then piecing it all together is just next level commitment.

      @@Oscarcat2212 From what i read - Blue Planet 2 took 12 years to complete. So this being 10yrs old could be footage from that timeline, i wouldn't put it past them. Plus i think they pay for captured footage from armature folks like you and i.

    The last shot was impeccable, it showed the humanity in film making. Life and death happens so frequently in nature, and to see the fish almost fall to the water after their failed attempt, almost as if it was person slamming to the ground. Simply wonderful film making!

    Amazing how the the Trevalee does a complete back flip and pirouette in the air before entering the water again on its back! Reminiscent of the Fosbury flop technique used in high jumping.

    Fish and birds are two very different creatures that have unique adaptations to their environments. Fish are adapted to life underwater, with streamlined bodies and fins for swimming, while birds are adapted for flying with lightweight but strong bones and feathers. Each has its own set of advantages depending on the environment they live in. It's not a matter of which is better, but rather which is better suited for their respective habitats.

    This is really amazing the story of these birds. Actually for them this is very important to learn quickly to fly. Also this is a sad story for those who fail to survive. In that moment I become breathless when the bird tries to fly to survive and get victory.

    Excellent footage, but the closed captioning for the entire video flashed for a fraction of a second near the beginning of the clip, instead of being spread out over the length of the video and actually describing/corresponding to what was going on.

    I am sure the film crew must have spent a lot of time to capture such amazing footage; the moment at 3:33 when the fish leaps out of the water and catches the bird is truly a rare sight, and that slow-motion shot is absolutely fantastic 😍
