Pacquiao is only 22 at that fight.. I happened that he is recognized as 24 year old because during his pro debut he fake his age because the required age is 18 and he is only 16 at that time...He did not submit also his birth cert. because he said he left on his province and luckily they forgot about it and the rest is history...

I am a 74 yr old (soon to be 75) American that never cared much for boxing until I moved to the Philippines and saw Manny box the first time. I believe my dislike for boxing is because other than HEAVYWEIGHT championship bouts, not many matches are broadcast on over-the-air channels in America.
But when I first watched Manny box I REALLY began to appreciate the sport and particularly if "the PACMAN" would be in the ring.
I don't have any "special" fights or moments because I just LOVE WATCHING MANNY FIGHT! I only wish I had gotten here 10 years earlier so I could have seen more of his fights in "real time".

He took the championship from him.I remember everybody here in Puerto Rico who watched the fight had tears in their eyes and some running through their face but I believe that's when Pacquiao gained the huge following he has in Puerto Rico and the respect of Puerto Ricans. I have several favorite things that I like a lot about Manny. No matter who his opponent was, he fought all of them at his best, even Thurman at the age of 40. His speed, adaptability, and Southpaw ferocity are prodigious. He's also very humble, as he acknowledges nearly all of his opponents' own boxing skills in every post-fight interview. When he goes to fight, he doesn't do it for the money, despite getting paid. Instead, he does it for the fans, especially the hundreds, if not, thousands of Filipinos who come to see him. The love and connection for his fans is unquestionable.
Whenever he's at his press fight conferences, he doesn't talk trash about his opponents as they do about him, instead preferring to respond to them in the ring with his fists. Basically, it goes like this:
When Manny's opponents talk trash about him, the call goes out, and Manny's fists answer. His career and reputation in boxing is easily comparable to that of the sport's all-time greats such as Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. He's defeated many of boxing's greatest fighters in eight different weight classes, winning championships in all of them, which no other boxer has been able to do.

I thought that Thurman would fight defensively to try to keep his undefeated record but I was really surprised and glad that he would go toe to toe with Pacquiao. He gave as much as he got and made it an exciting fight to watch. There were even times that I was scared for Pacquiao. But I'd like Thurman more if he didn't talk trash.

This was a really great vid!! Respect!!! Im 46 i grew up watching mike tyson and many other greats of the 80s and 90s, as you get older and you learn more about this fine art you look at fights in a different way, for me , manny is the best iv ever seen, his progression under roach from a double jab straight left fighter into what he became was truely astonishing, a humble man , a family man ,, 8weight champ .💣💥🥊🥊🥊🥊
