Sharks are only a few feet tall. They can be like 30 feet from shore pretty much.
Actually great whites can come into waist deep water and still get out (and ones bigger than the 11 foot one he faced)

OMG ikr one time I went to the nurse because I felt like had to throw up 🤢 and she told me to just lay down then when I got home after about 2 hours I started throwing up like crazy about 6-7 times!!! Then on Thursday ( btw this happened on Tuesday and then I stayed home on Wednesday ) I felt the same feeling again so I went back to the nurse told her the story about what happened on Tuesday and she did NOTHING about it!!! I felt so mad the rest of the day.

As a pro athlete, Michael has been on the other side of the camera and knows what it is like being peppered with questions from journalists. You can see how compassionate he is here, with the boy and his mother. Instead of forcing the boy to relive the attack with question after question, he quickly changes topics....to that of the boy's recovery.

I belong to a shark research organization and I am super glad that Keane survived the Great White shark attack. He kept a cool head and saved himself really. BRAVE KID ! Even though it can still kill a person, an 11 foot white shark is like still a teenager. Adult white sharks are usually 12-22 feet or so. Plus Even though an attack like this could happen to anybody. You should know the water you swim in to lessen your chances of a dangerous shark attack, Once again glad Keane is still with us and thanks for the upload.
San Diego coastlines have lots of juvenile great whites. It was always in the back of my mind when I would be swimming, snorkeling and free-diving in La Jolla. Wild that he was in just 9/10ft of water! My friend said divers in La Jolla would sometimes report being bumped by juvenile great whites. We free dove in La Jolla together (to ~40ft deep) and luckily didn’t see any! 😜 I hope I never do!
