There's another annoying thing.... THE ECONOMY. Terrible payrolls, expensive food, expensive services, expensive quality products in the catalog, expensive vacations, expensive pet maintenance... The Sims 1 was an inflation simulator.
Also if you visit any place (islands, magic town, downtown, studio...) you return home DESTROYED and with all your needs down. It takes a while to restore those needs.
Pets and Strays were so bad that MAxis had to make an item that prevented strays from entering your lot altogether. Strays were SO BAD. THey'd come onto your lot, constantly disrupt your sims, wet the entire lot which would kill the room score outside, and then they'd park themselves on the streets and cause endless honking from the cars.
I like the "mistakes" and the "questionably edited titles" in between each annoying elements throughout the video 😂 nice little touch and fits perfectly with the subject 😄
I thought the clown only came when your social was low, and went away if it got high enough? HATED the stray flies that you couldn't get to go away no matter how clean your house is. Definitely the stray pets were the worst for me, but at least they included the "no pets" sign. I never had dogs because I hated the room score dropping outside from their poo piles. I loved the sims 1, I had a rhythm to keep their needs high and didn't struggle with needs too much. Pro tip: If you really struggle, use move objects and delete your sim, when you reactivate them they come back with full needs :)
Something I always found crazy annoying was literally just the outdoors. Like you can have your sim in a decent enough mood to get a promotion at work, but as soon as they step outside their room need drops and their mood gets too low for a promotion 😭 unless you’re rich enough to make a nice enough yard but they seem to just hate everything lmao
You forgot plants. Any plants, indoor or outdoor. They always want water. And if you have lots of them, there's not enough time to water all of them, even if you have a butler.
Back in the day my Dad literally stopped playing TS1 because he just couldn’t stand the way his Sims would constantly wave their hands & complain & moan every time one of their Needs got even a little low.
Actually, you could get the kids to make money if you made them paint. I also like giving them that big play gym along with the toy chest and dollhouse.
@@TubeCody Also, in the Makin' Magic expansion, they finally, FINALLY added a way to age kids up to adults, so there is that way of dealing with them if it eventually gets to the point where you're just tired of them.
My top ten list for most annoying things in The Sims 1 10.Prank Calls-They're just random calls that are put in the game just to waste your time. Good news is if the call is not a prank call, you can get something good like free money, or a baby. 9.Working Out Drops Energy Need-This one is extremely unrealistic because working out does not make you sleepy. Imagine if you do your morning workout and then, you feel like you need to sleep after your workout. What would that be like? In the Sims 2, working out drops hygiene need and in later sims games, your sim can now get fatigued from working out. 8.Unable To Build Cooking Skill By Cooking-In the Sims 1, you are unable to build skill from cooking, so the only way to build skill is by using a cooking skill book, same applies to the mechanical skill. 7.Sims Walking On You In The Bathroom-If you only have 1 bathroom and someone is over and your sim is using it, the other sims will barge into the bathroom without knocking or waiting. They are so impatient. They don't do that anymore in the Sims 2. 6.Child Sims-Other than making money or trying to make new friends, there is no purpose to have kids in the family, if only they can grow up. 5.Sims Mourning at Urns/Tombstones Even If They Never Met The Sim Before-I get really pissed off about this one because I hate it when all my sims cry at the nearest urn or tombstone even if they never met this sim before. it even wastes so much time. Sometimes, they can even cry to death. That's why I usually sell all the tombstones at the Goth house. It wasn't until the Sims 4 where sims no longer mourn and they will only autotamiously mourn if they have the Good or Gloomy traits. 4.Voice Acting-I don't know what your opinion is, but to me, I think the Sims 1 voice acting is extremely bad, I can even compare it to the original Resident Evil. The Voice acting can get cheesy at times, and there is some occasional English here and there which I find that don't fit for Simlish. The only time the voice acting is good in this game is when the sims are screaming loudly because it sounds like they are being murdered. To add salt to the wound, babies don't even have voice acting. The voice acting got better in the Sims 2 and later sims games, and babies started to be voiced since Sims 2. 3.The Music during gameplay-To me, this one is extremely annoying because all the music is extremely repetitive. From getting a job, to building a skill, to making a friend, to sleeping, to kissing, to breaking something, to starting a fire, to the worst one, BURGLAR. Thankfully, the music is less repetitive in the later sims games and much less scary in the later games. 2.Temper Tantrum When Waking Up With Not Enough Energy-I know they are trying to make the Sims reactions to having sleep disturbed realistic, but they shouldn't go this far. This even led to me not catching a burglar multiple times. Thankfully, they don't do that anymore in the Sims 2. 1.ALL THOSE GODDAMN FLIES!!!-If you make a SINGLE mess, expect to hear flies, because they are so loud in this game it makes you want to mute your computer. Even after you took care of the thing with the flies on them, there are more flies in the toilet, on the dishes, EVERYWHERE!!! Thankfully, they quieted the flies down in the later Sims games, and even ascended it to a death in the Sims 2.
You do have time to satisfy your needs if you go to bed and wake up early. If your job starts at 9 am, don't wake up at 7 because you won't have time, go to bed at 19.00 and get up at 1.00. Gives you enough time to cook, eat, go to the toilet, have a shower, and watch TV. As for the "no weekends" issue, you can take as many days off as you want as long as you don't take 2 in a row.
My list goes as follows: 10. Swimming pools. They're so expensive and the game says they're highly desired by Sims to increase the room score outdoors yet swimming increases the fun need so slowly. 9. Magic ingredients and objects. Magic is really fun in TS1 but getting the ingredients you need can be a hassle, especially the ones you get from quests and the children's spells. Children can't buy ingredients so they have to just be found randomly by using certain objects and having a pet dragon which is sadly the WORST pet. 8. The obsessed fan. My sims in the fame track will get one without fail. Can't get rid of him, he's constantly leaving those roses on your lot that lower room score, and he can even steal your awards. Why you can't call the police on this obvious stalker is beyond me. 7. No weekends. I agree with your assessment here. 6. Skills. It takes too damn long to develop skills in this game. I'm glad future games consolidated skill building with other activities like cooking meals or unclogging a toilet. 5. Newspapers. It's just trash that gets delivered to your lot every day. 4. Food stands. They do a terrible job increasing your hunger need. I get cotton candy or a bag of popcorn is not a full meal but you shouldn't still be famished after eating a slice of pizza or sushi bento. 3. Temper tantrums. I hate when my sims do this, it wastes so much time. 2. Pets. I'm an animal lover but pets are such a burden with very little benefit, especially small pets. Stray animals just pee on the sidewalk outside the boundaries of your lot but it still decreases the room score. Like I mentioned before the dragon is the worst pet because at best you'll get bitten trying to brush it for scales and at worst it will set your house on fire. 1. Bugs, flies, other pests. THERE'S. JUST. TOO. MANY. PESTS. Flies, roaches, mice, gophers, rabbits all showing up to cause messes and destroy your yard. I'm not sure if it's because I play a cracked version of The Sims Complete Collection but these pests show up CONSTANTLY. I need a maid just to clean up the dead mice my cats kill. It's out of control. I don't actually find children or babies annoying. Babies really only need 1 feeding and to be sung to until they sleep. If at least one adult is awake and nearby it can be cared for without much issue. The clown is easy to avoid, just don't buy the painting. I think managing time is part of the challenge so I don't count it as an annoyance. And cars are annoying just not as annoying as the other things I mentioned.
@@Sims1Betty-rl5zn You can lure them out with some food, if they haven't already eaten. I usually have a group meal ready for guests. Letting them eat and use the toilet puts them in a better mood and helps increase the change of successful social interactions.
The kids do come across that way at first until you realize that them making friends frees your career driven sims up to focus on work. And kids are great at making friends since they don’t have to commit to improving skills like adults do.
4:19 My favorite sim character of all time 🤭 Great video 🏆 It also bothers me that they don't have weekends and that the children don't grow up, it shows that they took all those things into account when they launched the sims 2 ❤
Hmm so there's not enough time in the day, kids are annoying, unwelcome house guests are a pain, and we're too depressed to learn new skills. The sims 1 is more like real life than I thought...
3:00 I usually build a special new paper shed were I walled them in. There they won't litter the garden and you don't get any new ones once you have ~5.
Most of these issues are about mastering the game and learning about its hacks. Maids and later Butlers are a must. Need a weekend? Go on holidays or conjure up your clone to go to work instead of you. Or skip the day. I agree about children being boring and cars being stupid, but pets are great! (Oh, I sound like a typical millennial.) In The Sims Unleashed, pets can bring you social points and make you a lot of money. They need to be trained (you can hire a dog/cat trainer) and they need to like you and each other. Scold and praise them to make them stop bullying each other. For dogs, you need to get the fire hydrant and teach them not to pee around the house. You need to put the "no pet" signs in your garden to stop strays from entering your property. It's better to get two pets of the same species and the opposite gender and wait for them to like each other. Breeding your pets can bring you a lot of money - almost 2000 simoleons every three days. Once you learn how to make a healthy routine for your Sims, everything becomes pretty enjoyable.
A lot of these annoyances can be dealt with or just outright avoided: - Babies stop crying once you do all 3 interactions twice. A butler can do some of them for you. - Children can be aged up with a Magic Spell into Adults. Children can also financially contribute as they can get $100 from a faceless Grandma or Grandpa if they have A+ grade. - Just don't buy the Tragic Clown painting. Also burning the painting destroys the clown. - Have the No Pets allowed sign to get rid of strays. Recommend you put these near your lot entrances. - Needs are annoying but the best way to fill them is the most expensive stuff. There are also Magic Spells that help with moods. Get Happy is perfect for befriending Sims. - When the Need bar is green, Sims can do skill building. When its half & half or in red, they cannot. Also your Sim in that example clip desperately needed to pee & sleep, hardly a "neutral mood" lol
Loved the video! One thing I did find annoying in my opinion in the sims 1 is when the neighbors came over to visit but they went straight to the computer and was on it quite a while. I do agree with you about the pets and the burglar thing. And the bugs were also bothersome 😊
The worst thing about Sims 1 was getting a job promotion, seriously. Your Sim goes to work. 8 hours later your Sim comes home from work exhausted. You receive a message that your Sim has been promoted. Great. But your working hours have changed, so after getting promoted and returning home, you immediately receive a message that the car taking your Sim to work will be there in an hour. How to live here? 👍👍 And as for the fact that we have to collect more and more friends to advance, don't even get me started 💀
I love the hard part, I love the cars and I love the esthetic of things in your house. I wish kids could become teens and I wish they had at least one free day, though there is always the holiday pack🤷♀️
I honestly feel like number one of the most annoying thing is basically the burglar but that's also a scary thing too but actually most of all is your TV broken and you have to fix it
My list(TS4 Edition) Children - Made even more annoying by the March 14th 2023 update adding a new lifestage Needs - Always have them off especially in households larger then 3 because I just want to do other things Time - I can't count how many "Reduce Time of X" mods I have Pets - Mainly due to the questionable choice of non Animal Lovers being hostile towards strays even though they have traits like Good and Friendly so that's another Mod I had to download to only make sims with the mean traits be mean to strays Cooking - Installed a No House Fire mod and another mod that lets me summon food Romance/Marriage Doesn't apply Cars - They just go through sims Clown - Never ran across it Flies - Never ran across them (In 4 they can kill a Sim) Newspaper - Not in 4
The no weekend thing is so frustrating. I absolutely hate it. This is why I always did the money cheat instead of sending my sims to work. I wasn’t annoyed by kids. The baby’s cries weren’t annoying for me. They were just heartbreaking. I didn’t mind the newspapers. Yes. Time is super frustrating. Never had the clown. I actually feel bad for the fella. And I think he goes away after your social is full. The pets actually look so adorable. The needs especially room and comfort are a pain in the ass. Cooking skill is also something I didn’t mind because I always made my sims eat salad and chips. And DID YOU HAVE TO USE THAT JUMPSCARE?! The sound of flies is something I actually enjoy in the game because I’d rather deal with it in game than in real life.
The most annoying thing for me in The Sims 1 is time, yea, time in this game doesn't make any sense, to the point that I don't think sleep pattern or work-life balance is a thing. lol
The first 2 skills to grind are Cooking and Body. The better your body, the more energy your Sim has. And better cooking will fill em up all day if you plan correctly. The key is to not set another task while they're sleeping. Then, wake them up at max energy vs them waking up at 90% energy to start that task. I also lined up my kitchen so it goes open fridge, processor, stove. And once they get up, the dishwasher is right behind them. I use the stray pets for social fix. That way you dont have to feed or care for them. You can ease some of the challenges. But the major one for me is lack of weekends. I always end up maxing my mechanic and selling Gnomes.
11: The lack of Circadian Rhythms. My sims would get tired from work, so I send them to bed early. They sleep for almost 16 hours - and are still throwing a tantrum and are grouchy. Other times I send them to bed... they wake up 4 hours later fully rested and now are going to get too tired.
Definitely the bugs and flies are annoying Cody! I remember playing this game when I was young and whenever there was flies heard in the game, my mom would say clean up your mess. LOL!
Things that I found annoying: - The vacation mascots (who would stalk your kids when they were just trying to use the bathroom). There was also that disease that Sims would get that would cause them to ignore you and keep grabbing their butt - The robot from Living Large was sometimes nice to have, but he often just got in the way (they notably liked to stand in doorways) and sometimes he would just decide to return to his pod even when the house was still a mess. - The loading screens (when Vacation first came out, it took absolutely forever to get the game to load) and the crashes (the game would just quit without warning and without any error messages, so you never knew what caused it. Sometimes a corrupted lot would just crash the game if you hovered the cursor over it. Overall, this is still the Sims game I played the most, and with "only" seven expansion packs, the game was otherwise complete.
There's another annoying thing.... THE ECONOMY. Terrible payrolls, expensive food, expensive services, expensive quality products in the catalog, expensive vacations, expensive pet maintenance... The Sims 1 was an inflation simulator.
eyo with the car blocking, i just had flashbacks of blocking the road for the school bus after my kids were on it, so that as long as i dealt with honking on the corner of my lot, i had a makeshift boarding school til i wanted them back lmfao
You can have a day off but if you have 2 in a row you're fired. You can go on holiday & visit magic town as your lot is paused whilst you're away. Put the baby in a different room to the bedroom. Recycle as soon as you come home, that way they don't build up. Burglar alarm? No Pets Allowed Sign at both ends of lot will stop strays. Churn Butter for cooking & sell butter for extra cash. Keeping lot clean keeps Bugs/skunk away & clean plates straight away. Sims is very easy if you know how to play ;)
@@valusionrodweller5361 Good thing Makin' Magic offers a way to age up children, at last. And there's even a way to turn pets into Sims, if you're into that sort of thing.
Honestly, I feel like the strategies like these that I learned while playing The Sims as a kid forged my anxieties and way of living as an adult. Lol. I remember arranging my Sims' houses so that it was a sequential thing to get ready for work, always flowing towards the door. I do the same IRL.
Despite these irritating situations, I still have got to say I have a deep love for Sims 1 and I'd say it's my absolute favorite series of all! Sims 2 is great and I understand why it's often considered the best but idk...sims 1 just hits different for me: I wish SO bad they'd make a version that is able to be downloaded on Mac or something. I do not have a computer old enough or compatible for the discs. I just hope one day they can make it to where you can play without discs. I miss it so bad
kids are the most annoying over anything in Sims 1, they have to do their homework and go to school nearly everyday, and they cant grow up! Thats why in Sims 1 i always avoid having kids just send them to boarding school
I actually like kids in this game. 100% of the time I made them do slav3 labor so my adult sims could do productive and fun things. All you need is the cheat that lets you delete the militaryschoolbus whenever it comes by.
Ahh, consumerism... You just had to have that clown painting, didn't you? Add plants to the list. You can make a big, beautiful garden; but good luck maintaining it and having time for anything else. By far time is the worst one, and it's still an issue in Sims 4. Who takes an hour to make eggs?
I find most of these greatly exaggerated. Sure it was sometime annoying but i didn't have bugs in house all the time, maid worked perfectly in 99% cases (unlike current generation), pets were nice beacuse they took care of themselves most of the time but were present when social need dropped and i didn't want to socialize with other sims. If you didn't let those papers get pilled up, throwing them out wouldn't be a hassle. Not having weekends was a bummer.
@@TubeCody one of the NPCs introduced in Hot Date. That old woman hates when couple kisses in public and always tells them off. Definitely check that expansion more in depth 😅

Did you ever get checked for anxiety disorder? You might be having that like me.
For the baby part, you should just throw the baby out to your Mega Park in RCT2.

It's better to get two pets of the same species and the opposite gender and wait for them to like each other. Breeding your pets can bring you a lot of money - almost 2000 simoleons every three days. Once you learn how to make a healthy routine for your Sims, everything becomes pretty enjoyable.
nice
A lot of these annoyances can be dealt with or just outright avoided:
- Babies stop crying once you do all 3 interactions twice.
Thank you for sharing! Yes the neighbors were fairly annoying to me too
It takes a sim so long to actually get out of bed and start doing anything. It's the worst
seriously lol, that part is so annoying
also annoying: sims superstar, in the higher star levels it’s completely based on luck if the directors like your acting/modeling/singing choices.
Oof yes you’re totally right
also, one can't become pornstar in sims superstar, that is quite disappointing
The worst thing about Sims 1 was getting a job promotion, seriously.
Your Sim goes to work.
8 hours later your Sim comes home from work exhausted.
You receive a message that your Sim has been promoted.
Great. But your working hours have changed, so after getting promoted and returning home, you immediately receive a message that the car taking your Sim to work will be there in an hour.
How to live here? 👍👍
And as for the fact that we have to collect more and more friends to advance, don't even get me started 💀
You’re so right haha. It was near impossible
I love the hard part, I love the cars and I love the esthetic of things in your house. I wish kids could become teens and I wish they had at least one free day, though there is always the holiday pack🤷♀️
Fair!
I honestly feel like number one of the most annoying thing is basically the burglar but that's also a scary thing too but actually most of all is your TV broken and you have to fix it
That’s how good this game is I think any other game that’s this annoying I would have stopped playing while the Sims 1 I want to continue playing.
Amen….
I feel that lol I can still play this game for hours and hours
My list(TS4 Edition)
Children - Made even more annoying by the March 14th 2023 update adding a new lifestage
Needs - Always have them off especially in households larger then 3 because I just want to do other things
Time - I can't count how many "Reduce Time of X" mods I have
Pets - Mainly due to the questionable choice of non Animal Lovers being hostile towards strays even though they have traits like Good and Friendly so that's another Mod I had to download to only make sims with the mean traits be mean to strays
Cooking - Installed a No House Fire mod and another mod that lets me summon food
Romance/Marriage
Doesn't apply
Cars - They just go through sims
Clown - Never ran across it
Flies - Never ran across them (In 4 they can kill a Sim)
Newspaper - Not in 4
Thanks for sharing your list!!
Activate the move_objects cheat and then sell the cockroaches and flies. Stonks!
THAT'S RIGHT!!! You can do that. Stonks indeed :D
They keep coming back 😢
The most annoying thing for me in The Sims 1 is time, yea, time in this game doesn't make any sense, to the point that I don't think sleep pattern or work-life balance is a thing. lol
Hahaha, yes it certainly is incredibly annoying
Thanks for these tips!’ I’ll have to try them :-)
If I remember correctly, you dont need cooking skills to use the Food Processor item. And with that you dont need a stove to cook.
That was a really cool and entertaining list! So many memories unlocked even though I haven't played this game for years now!
thanks for the kind words!! More sims videos to come :) stay tuned
“I hate thar clown”
- Happy Gilmore
haha
11: The lack of Circadian Rhythms.
My sims would get tired from work, so I send them to bed early. They sleep for almost 16 hours - and are still throwing a tantrum and are grouchy. Other times I send them to bed... they wake up 4 hours later fully rested and now are going to get too tired.
Love this comment
Definitely the bugs and flies are annoying Cody! I remember playing this game when I was young and whenever there was flies heard in the game, my mom would say clean up your mess. LOL!
haha! your mom would really say that??
Yes she would, but like you said sometimes there isn't enough time to get things done.
Things that I found annoying:
- The vacation mascots (who would stalk your kids when they were just trying to use the bathroom). There was also that disease that Sims would get that would cause them to ignore you and keep grabbing their butt
- The robot from Living Large was sometimes nice to have, but he often just got in the way (they notably liked to stand in doorways) and sometimes he would just decide to return to his pod even when the house was still a mess.
Thanks for commenting!!
There's another annoying thing.... THE ECONOMY.
Terrible payrolls, expensive food, expensive services, expensive quality products in the catalog, expensive vacations, expensive pet maintenance...
The Sims 1 was an inflation simulator.
Lib alert
eyo with the car blocking, i just had flashbacks of blocking the road for the school bus after my kids were on it, so that as long as i dealt with honking on the corner of my lot, i had a makeshift boarding school til i wanted them back lmfao
This is amazing and I did this too
You can have a day off but if you have 2 in a row you're fired.
Of course. All that is true. But those are some pretty annoying workarounds imo
@@TubeCody Rather have the annoying workarounds lol. I agree the Pets is the worst & I avoid children
@@stephaniem8278 That's how I build me original Sims homes too. Nice & fluid :)
This is why I use cheats and mods when I play this game to make it easier
Oh for sure hahaha
Despite these irritating situations, I still have got to say I have a deep love for Sims 1 and I'd say it's my absolute favorite series of all! Sims 2 is great and I understand why it's often considered the best but idk...sims 1 just hits different for me: I wish SO bad they'd make a version that is able to be downloaded on Mac or something. I do not have a computer old enough or compatible for the discs. I just hope one day they can make it to where you can play without discs. I miss it so bad
Hey Cody how do you download the sims 1 in 2024 it looks so fun
It's really the worst when my cats and dogs block the path to the bathroom every single time. 🤣
I KNOWWWWWWWWWWW
I ended up putting the large arch doorway everywhere in the house to avoid that. It helped a ton.
You can only have breakfast in one minute if you literally have your bed in your kitchen. What are you talking about Cody?!?!
LOL that’s funny
I've been playing this again and these things are driving me crazy! 🤣
kids are the most annoying over anything in Sims 1, they have to do their homework and go to school nearly everyday, and they cant grow up!
Good lord you monster
I played the Sims 1 for years and I NEVER could get some couple married xD
Hahaha I think I only did it like once
Yeah I love make strategy for this problems
Same
I can relate to the bugs.
I remembered I married the maid and gosh she is the most skilful person ever. She definitely a high level and deserves better pay 😅
MRS. CRUMPLEBOTTOM THO
What lol
Amazing video!
Thank you!! Will you watch my other videos? Just thought I’d ask lol no worries if not
@@TubeCody This is the first one, but sure thing I'm gonna check it out the other ones! 👍
It is always fun seeing kids playing The Sims 1 for the first time, rofl. (And well, I'm struggling with Sims 4 cursed build mode, lol)
Hahaha yes, love seeing kids play a 24 year old game
But from The sims 1 i remember very well about that you have 1 weekend. I remember bad?
I dont think you did
I gave your video a 👍🏽 and I subscribed ✅
2:26 I saw that 😂😂😂
Nice!! Hahaha, good catch
I don’t get it?
In the annual count up of Cassandra’s childhood, the 2020 year has a mask. My time stamp is just a wee bit off.
@@heather4518 oh I see it now
I find most of these greatly exaggerated.
Not having weekends was a bummer.
you are welcome to have your opinion! just know that you are now cancelled because we disagreed
The children in the sims look more like 6 to 9 years old.
for real ha
I agree with the list!
Mrs crumblebottom 😅
wut lol?
@@TubeCodyshe would attack you in the sims 2 if u try to make love in public she would also show up if u make a wish on wishing well for love to much
@@TubeCody one of the NPCs introduced in Hot Date. That old woman hates when couple kisses in public and always tells them off.
Definitely check that expansion more in depth 😅
1:43 why are they naked💀💀💀
I’ll never know
I had a love, hate thing with the game
Me too honestly lol
first, yeah these are annoying.
yes, thats why i made the video
It's true LOL 😂😂😂❤
Hahaha yess
the money magic spell is a life saver i pretty much gotten rich and expanded the family because of it and it's really easy to do it
that is super awesome!
