Tip- Make sure parking brake is on before you turn ignition on. My 2015 Sierra would not go into learning mode when I applied the park brake after turning ignition on. As for the comments that you don’t need the tool , just go thru the sequence by adding or letting air out. This was true on my 2011 Sierra but somewhere between 2011 and 2015 GM changed it so you have to have the tool. Bless their hearts.

This tool also works on learning the trailer TPMS sensors included with some 2019 and 2020 Chevy/GMC 1500 pickups. I just had the sensors installed on my travel trailer and it worked just as advertised. The only difference between the vehicle and the trailer is the sequence is different. Trailer tire learning sequence is left front, left rear, right rear, right front. Just go by the horn sounding each time a sensor is learned, as there are no light indications. And when you're done, you'll get a two chirp signal after the single chirp from the last tire that lets you know you successfully learned all the sensors. You also have a two minute countdown timer, so don't dawdle around. Now I can monitor all four trailer tire pressures and temps on my infotainment screen.

Just got the tool and tried....... I recently had a back tired replaced at Walmart last Dec and the back 2 sensors had been working, my fronts died last year and last Saturday I had 2 new tires put on and sensors at walmart, but they said their machine needed to be charged up so went back Monday and got hit with the back sensors were not showing up now and the other rear tire needed to be replaced, said dry rot even though it looks almost new. So I just ended up leaving, not really able buy another new tire / mounting / road hazard fees and 2 more sensors. So I' guess all the sensors maybe need to be the same brand in order to relearn...... On my 2009 Impala you use the keyfob and press 2 buttons to start the relearn, it did beep on the 2 new front tires (I guess universal replacements) but no luck on the rears being found / horn beeping. So I'm guessing letting the air out to set may not work either, I've not tried yet. When I got there Monday they said I could sit in the car but they never set up the dash to relearn or have the car on.......... I was going to have them do 2 new sensors but could not really buy another tire at this time since on SS... Thanks

I'm pissed because I put 4 new ones in 21/2 years ago and two have died.

Really don't need the tool...adding or releasing air in the tire does the same thing

This is straight up lazy. The Tire Pressure relearn literally takes 2 minutes. I'm pretty sure most dealers don't do the re-learn. I only found out it wasn't done because of a flat.

So you work around it, do research and buy a tool and not give $120 to a tire store.

Let me explain. When I say "capitalism", I'm not proposing the replacement of the system. It's just a complaint about the way the dealer and the manufacturer, and the capitalists as a whole treats the consumer. When they use pratices such as scheduled (forced) obsolescence, or simply when you pay for a service in the tires and they don't reinstall (including re-learn) the TPMS, what is, for me, an obvious procedure. In my country, car services are even worse. Some services, I better do. Not for the money, but for the "lazy" or bad people. Of course it's good when you can buy your own tool and do the job. I said less than I wanted to say in the previous comment. Thank you for the feedback.
