THE ROMANS ARE HERE | Minerva vs TITAN AI

- The rules are simple. We aren't allowed to attack until we are in the Mythic age. That way we explore the civ and how it defends some attacks and all the other good things that come with playing through a new civ. Let me know if you want to see more of this!?

Hearing somebody call the Wadjet strong made me smile a little. My poor, underrated snake boy getting love.
It was my fav unit when i was a kid. I was spamming them like crazy😂😂
It was really good against human soldiers such as infantries
All of Rome will be amazed at such a victory! The day is ours!
great reference
Thanks so much for trying out the civ! This sort of playtesting and feedback is invaluable for making a good, balanced mod.
Maybe soon we’ll get an online match!
the roman Titan should be some kind of big machine guy, like the automata or the colossi, summoned in some kind of construction site to implement the agnostic vibe this civ gives
;)
Weren't Romans polytheists?
@@voyagereternal11 They were, but their relationship with gods was more of a distant one, and the Roman idea of a god was more spiritual. That's how they could say things like "well odin is definitely mercury" and such.
All those people working on playable and original AoM mods with new civs. What a time to be alive. Glad that game is still alive.
At a guess, “winnable” is actually “venabo” (the v sounds like a w in classical Latin) which means “I will hunt”. Also caught “quid est?” (What is it?), “Domine?” (Lord/master?), and “ave” (hello) when units were selected
Would be a cool spin if the titan for this civ were actually a duo. Like 2 titan wolves resembling the Romulus and Remus myth
There's only one wolf in that story. One wolf who raised two boys.
I think a hero emperor(Caesar) would work better. One that is not as tanky or raw damage as a titan but buffs the soldiers around him every so often.
Oh wow this mod looks really cool i would love to see more factions showcases :D
This is very very cool! Who is doing the voice-acting?
looks realldy good!
seems pretty unique too
I feel like the legionaries seem very strong seeing a single one cleaning up with the axemen on the first raid
overall the roman soldiers seem very costy but insanely strong
would love to see a multiplayer game with this mod to determine how balanced it is!
well, legionaries are spine of roman army, also takes 3 pop.
Looking forward to Celtic when they're playable. Will we get a look at Eldritch after Romans? Aztecs were really good and I'm wondering how many gems the mod creators can get through. People say faction designing is difficult to make fun/unique/playable at the same time but the mod creators make it look easy
This is actually an entirely different Aztec civ from the one you’re probably thinking of! The Return of the Gods uses the second Aztec cosmology, while this mod (which incorporates the rather uninspiredly named “Aztec mod”) has the first Aztec cosmology.
It’s quite different to play, since the focus is more on a complex eco than a complex military.
i hope retold adds more civs or alteast proper mod support
I also think it would be both tidier and make more sense for the Imperator to come out the palace. You'd think classical age Rome would be the Republic, but you get access to (multiple lol) leaderS of the Empire in the barracks instead (which are a bit too crowded)
In the Republic, an Imperator was a title given to generals who (his soldiers thought) deserved a triumph. Technically, it was a temporary title that lasted only until they got their triumph, but for gameplay purposes he’s just an inspiring general.
9 sec to mythic with her God Power!!!!! Holy Heavens
Really cool! The only downside is the absence of mythological units, but that's expected. It would be awesome if they manage to incorporate them or maybe, although unlikely, Microsoft could take the hint and do this themselves. In the meantime, I'm trying this mod asap. Thanks for the tip!
very well done, original ideas and nice visuals
As much as some people might be obsessed with Rome for whatever reason i think it should be the lowest on the priority list of new factions for aom retold.
Considering how insanely similar they are aesthetically to Greek.
17:30 that Jason momoa reference lmaoooo
This is awesome, and this mod is so cool, I can’t wait for it to be finished, also can’t wait for age of mythology retold whenever that’s gonna come out
MInerva is Athena, Diana is Artemis, Venus is Aphrodite, Vulcan is Hephaestus, Apollo is Apollo
it's also funny having the Celts and Romans up there together because of their syncretism. When the Romans invaded Celtic Britain for example they considered the Celtic goddess Sulis and the Roman goddess Minerva to be the same goddess, so she was worshipped by the Roman Britons as Sulis Minerva
I really enjoy the mod spotlights! Hoping to see a tournament in the divine edition someday.
"i don't know latin"... Who's going to tell him that fecundity is English?
I don't know English either.
Vulcan’s concept art does look like Jason Mamoa you aren’t wrong
The Rome faction marvels could be the Colosseum, the thermae of Bath and a Triumphal Arc. Their Titan could be a Colossus style statue of Victoria brought to life.
Since they use no myth units but have plenty of hero candidates, their minor gods could enable additional hero options with different abilities: Palatnus (Paladin), Magistratus (General), Pontiff (Priest), perhaps even a Dictator or Caesar, as a unique, Son of Osiris styled hero.
They also could have myth units: catoblepas, lemures, monoceros, strix, caladrius. Like the Atlanteans faction, the Roman mythology could be a mixture of different civilizations, as they adopted elements of whatever cultures they conquered. They are also responsible for part of what would become medieval mythology, so a few elements could be taken from there too.
cant wait to see boit play the Lakota
holy shit this is so exciting
All of the temples look the same... do they do anything different? kind of confusing.
Is this a Mod? and if yes, whats the name of it?
I feel like they need to make the better infantry commanders cost favor which is gained from nonidle military units. Then say all the commanders give a bit of a buff to similar units. So the archer commander gives a buff to archers, cav to cav etc etc. then you’re using the unique parts of the game to a bit more of their full advantages.
Could also have random other civ’s age ups be available so you have 3 options each age up- 2 roman and 1 randomly selected from other gods civs. - or when you build a temple you can select a civ that embodies that temple and allows you to build weaker versions of their myth units for more eco but less favor… would also give the same effect and allow the temples to have some use.
Jupiter does actually have a favor mechanic -- temples generate favor, and then you can spend favor at his temple, town centers, or the vexillarius to summon an eagle of lightning to blasts your enemies. And all gods can summon myth units with their temples! When you build 2/3/4 temples, you get myth units corresponding to the town center your Roman Eagle is hovering over. By default, it's the Manes (like you see in game), but since his opponent was Ra here, Boit could've gotten Wadjets, Scarabs, and Mummies!
Woah the mod works multiplayer too?? That looks so cool
Find a friend and try it out! We'd love some pvp feedback, since the AI often doesn't react optimally.
@@apropergentleman7865 gotcha I'll see if I can get (annoy) a friend or my gf to install it too and I'll comment back here one of these days
@@apropergentleman7865is this played on game ranger?
@@williamg9977 no, extended edition
@@apropergentleman7865 on Steam?
I would have liked seeing the ram actually attack a building instead of the only one you created being sent against an army lmao
What the music name of the Roman theme?
Although Mars and not Minerva should be the 3rd major god here since the Romans viewed Mars favorably compared to the Greeks' warfreak Ares. The Romans named the first month of the year and springtime after Mars, all military Roman campaigns always starts with the worship Mars, Mars is the father of the Romans through Rheasilva, Romulus and Remus, etc. Meanwhile, Minerva only has a modest cult and she was mostly relegated by the Romans as merely a handicraft and toolmaking goddess.
Nice. What is the name of the mod?
Roma Roma romaaaa, core de sta città, unico grande amore, che tanta tanta gente, hai fatto innamorarrr
How do we get mods?
The extra buildings are more for the city builders
Wait, isn't Apollo a Greek name? He's even already available to the Greeks.
I checked and the Roman equivalent is called Phoebus.
That's a somewhat common misconception -- Phoebus means "bright" in Greek, and was a common epithet for Apollo in a way that, in English, would be "The Bright One". Plenty of other gods had epithets as well, especially Hades. The Roman name for Apollo was Apollo.
A Roman civ with no mythology is just lazy... you could have sick new gods and myth units like Mithras' cosmic bulls, Magna Mater's dactyls, lemures (evil spirits) of Pluto, etc.
We did consider giving the Romans a "normal" mythology when it came to their myth units, but we decided it would be better and more thematic to give them one unique myth unit (the Manes), and then have them simply use the myth units of their allies or enemies. When you build your second/third/fourth temple, you'll get one/two/three Manes for free! Something Boit didn't do in this game was use the Roman Eagle to hover over a town center -- if you do this, when you build those temples, instead of getting the Manes, you'll get the myth units that correspond to the major god that settlement worships! So if he'd done that to his Ra opponent, he'd have gotten three wadjets in the classical age, two scarabs in the mythic age, and two mummies in the mythic age.
This also means that, in a team game, you'll have a bunch of options to pick from -- say you want Loki's classical myth unit (the Einherjar), but then Set's heroic myth unit (the Scorpion Man), and then maybe you go back to Loki for his mythic myth unit (one each of the fire giant, mountain giant, and frost giant).
how to install this mod ?
How u download this mod files
Bro, I love you )
much prettier than the chinese civ
water dude ! lmao
How is that mod called ??
How do I get this!
mod?
Too cool!
Hunt is faster of Farm full upgrade?
Hunt
All of these are cool additions except for the protogenoi and jotunn. Those are not civilizations, and they're already covered in other civs.
A bit sad that the legionaries dont look much like any legionaries from the diferent eras.
Given the time period of the game they shoud be hastati whit either spear in a hoplite style or the pinic wars one.
Alguien que hable español me quiere decir si es mod esto que subió bolt
the titan should just be julius ceaser
Lol luckily you don’t need to know Latin to understand the English word “fecundity” 😂
seems better then the chinese gods :P
Why would whoever made Romans, choose Minerva and not Mars as major god? Mars was far more important to Romans than Minerva
music from Rome Total War
If there's ever an official Roman faction, I would prefer if the pantheon was made up of Gods who aren't shared with the Greek pantheon like Janus, Flora, Fauna, etc, or at least ones that weren't already covered in the game. Having them all be copies of the Greek gods is boring.
Jupiter is the highest god in the roman Pantheon. Wouldnt make sense when Other civs can use their most poweful gods and romans cant with zeus being in the game already
@@MM-dm4xj depends on the version, I think. There were a few different triads of gods that were considered the most important at various times.
Let’s be honest: Rome’s mythology is mostly copy paste from Greek mythology
too many different units and each has individual upgrade. a bit annoying.
you missed that the eagle copies myth units from the opponent in a way.
So... You are playing age of mythology with a civilization with no mythology... Bruh
Romans have mythology. Scholar have looked down on that for many many years but they actually have interesting mithology that includes, alongside with ancient Roman mithology, syncretic mithology from basically every civilization Romans encountered and subjugated, so basically half the at-the-time-known world
Pft, pathetic. Call me back when they add the ability to choose Jesus as my major god and get the Apostles as Heroes. If they really wanted they could add it as one of the Roman factions.
0 A.D voices.
aaaah Age of Mythology the community that learns there history from Wikipedia xD, will they put in Slavic gods that Greeks and nors, copyed from, that are older than 90% of all this other gods and 10x more cool and complex.... or will they ignore older Slavic history because of there complex and racist hatred towards Russia guys.
f it just port aoe civs to aom lol
