On a recent 1500 mile road trip, mostly on interstate highways, this system worked extremely well on a 2022 Outback.
It greatly reduces stress to be able to drive in the right lane with the active cruise and lane keeping enabled. You still have to pay attention and keep your hands on the wheel. Its like having a second person in the passenger seat who can reach over and steer if you are drifting out of your lane.
The pedestrian and brick wall prevention work very well too. There was a man standing in the street directing traffic for special event parking, as I approached him the car slowed down and stopped, sensing he was too close to my path.
The active cruise control also recognizes when a car merges in front of you, if that car is going faster than you, the cruise does not slow down to re-establish the buffer distance. It maintains your speed while the merged car pulls ahead, then re-establishes the 2.5 second gap behind the lead car.

Nice feature overview - thanks for the video.
My wife and I have a 2019 Crosstrek with EyeSight, and I will say that the one thing I would change is the behavior of the cruise control speed adjustment - the long press/short press behavior is the exact opposite of what I would expect and have seen in other cars.
During highway driving with adaptive cruise on, it's much more common to want to adjust the settings in 1 mph increments. This can be incredibly frustrating to do because the long press behavior is a little twitchy and often requires that you take your eyes off the road to look at the display to check the cruise speed.
It would be much easier - and safer - to have short press result in 1 mph changes, and long press bump by 5. Want to increase/decrease speed by 3 mph? Just 3 short taps of the button while you keep your eyes on the road.

Remember in 05 where one or two clicks was one mile per hour and three clicks was 5 mph increase and four clicks was 10 and +5 each click after? At lease we’ve come this far 🤣

@@CaliVapor yeah I was terrified when it reached to almost 90 MPH.

I agree with you. On my old '17 model it was a short press up or down to move in increments of 1 and a long press for increments of 5. A much better setup than my new '20 version.

Where is the best place to use Cruise Control city or freeway? Also when the car ahead of you stop, will it stop and go by itself or I have to do something for it to resume.

    • @rowdyposs
      @rowdyposs 3 года назад +2

Use it wherever you like that is not bumper to bumper and you can travel pretty freely because it can save you speeding fines and once you get used to it it’s not hard to “ resume” after stopping. I found I had to use the accelerator or “resume” after hold. It just warns you that the lead car has moved away and let’s you choose.
Don’t use cruise control in very wet weather or on roads where your vehicle might aquaplane.

Thank you for the informative review. I have one question: If you go into the menu options and turn off those EyeSight functions, do they automatically turn back on the next time you start the vehicle (like auto Stop-Start does), or do they stay off until you turn them back on?

15 seconds. After about 45 seconds, it shuts the lane centering off.

3:52 I don't think you should use cruise control on Traffic areas I think its only meant for highways. By the way we have A 2020 Subaru |
    \/
    (look below)
Outback! Ps. I couldn't tell the difference of our car and your car from the interior it looks so same!

Does it really keep you centered in the lane or just warns of going over a line without a turn signal turned On? It does NOT stop a person behind from honking, it just makes it unnecessary. Your car has NO control over another car. Interesting video, but sorry to say; better ones out there.

I wanted my car, ordered it, waited… got it, hate it. This lane keep sees asphalt patches and pushes me at other cars. It has slammed on the brakes 8 times scaring me and risking me getting rear ended. The radio is super annoying, the auto stop start makes no sense, it stops the engine at a stop sign and at a red light it keeps running. If anyone wants this car you can have it.

It takes some doing - but it's possible to block out all the sonar and safety cameras on any car. I don't need any of these "safety" features - learn now to drive and staying off your phone will do the same thing.

Let me know how that works for you when you have a medical emergency and go careening into oncoming traffic where you slam into a van with an entire family in it. These features are designed to work as a last resort. You lying unconscious in your driver's seat is a last resort. Think about that before there is a bunch of dead children scattered across the interstate because you felt you didn't "need any of these 'safety' features". If you are as good as a driver as you claim you are, none of these features will kick in, so you might as well keep them on, right?

Just buy a Subaru with a manual transmission, like a Crosstrek. I mainly wanted EyeSight for the adaptive cruise control because I'm sick and tired of having to adjust mine when assholes in front of me can't pick a speed and stick with it.

Since Subaru has included the eyesite system on all their new cars, no drivers have died in a Subaru with it engaged.
It works extremely well. Subaru has more cars on the road than tesla, but over 25 people have died in tesla cars with their fake "autopilot" engaged, and there have been over 250 accidents caused by tesla cars trying to drive themselves.
If you had watched the video you would know you can TURN IT OFF if you dont want to live, or if you intend to run people over with your Subaru.

This is not fool proof and gives a false sense of safety. You still need to drive the car. It fights you as the car will go to side of lane a car is passing in. Also if you get a rock on the windshield you will have to use oem glass to not void the warranty and then take it to dealership to eyesight cameras calibrated.......not liking this much right now as I have a cracked windshield. Also paid big bucks for a warranty and Subaru was quick to tell me no.

Call SOA and complain. The dealers get paid garbage from SOA, and dealers will find any excuse to not fix things. After they told me and SOA confirmed that dealers can refuse to work on your car for a simple mod like window tints, I requested a refund for my extended warranty from the financing office. GL getting them to use your warranty.
