I just love watching your videos.... and you were the first one that I watched before I had any.... picked up the Merkur Futur Gold, (based on your video) totally love love love that razor... since then I picked up a beautiful Fat Bot 195 with case and blades at a little shop in my home town... It was cool, looked around and saw no razors, asked the guy for old Gillettes.... he says, I have one razor in the back I was going to keep it but you can have it for $30... turned out to be a second date code with case and original blades... then I picked up a beautiful slim and blue tip at a garage sale.... Wet Shaving is addictive...
came back to watch this again, really appreciate your videos.... I also watched your modern razors and got me a Futor and totally love it, my favorite modern, then I snagged me a slim and a fatboy.... thanks for taking the time to make these videos....
Just shaved with my '55 Red Tip razor with a Shark blade this evening. I don't know if it's me, but it shaves great & is not the bloodletting instrument that many make it out to be.
I had to comment here. I took your advice and tried a Gillette old type. My shave was so good it just replaced the red tip. Thank you for suggesting it.
Funny, I'm having my dads slim re-done at Razor Emporium and will be getting it back soon. Can't wait. I've used it for years not knowing anything about what it was. Now I do and it's even cooler. I also just bought a fat boy on ebay that I will also have re-done. And so it begins :)
I love the Gillette Super Speed black handle.. It's perfectly mild and I use this razor when I want to try different soaps at one shave session. Cheers
You completely missed the mark for your #1 razor. The Slim is everything the 195 aspired to be. Go find a Goodwill - you'll forget all about that overrated Fat Boy. It's a notch above the New Short Comb in performance, but the Slim comes awfully close.
Gillette marketed a gold plated Slim Adjustable as the Aristocrat. There were several distinct products from Gillette by that name over the years. They tended to treat product names in a similar way to how the U.S. Navy treats the names of ships. Once a product was out of production, they would find a new use for that name.

+Tim Falter thank you! It is addictive. But there are much worse things to be addicted to! Thanks for watching!

That's not an Aristocrat, that's just a gold plated Slim Adjustable.
