Nice video. Gen-X'er here ; I remember all version's of windows and even MS-Dos , Warp-OS - and beyond. The progression of consumer electronic's has been a very enlighting experience over the years.

Hi Dale! Thanks for sharing this. Just in case you'd want to update the video or the description, as of this last year, seems like Microsoft has decided that this model is capable of using Windows 11, unless windows update is lying to me. Thanks!

Awesome! My mother recently got a Chromebook to make things easier for her and gave me her Acer Aspire E5. After doing some research on the model(s) and the one I had I did find conflicting information regarding the SSD but opening it up revealed that the Acer representative was wrong and it's not documented somewhere along the line that it can support it but that's where your video came in. I had the same board layout, etc. I just wanted to know if that slot was for show and tell, or if my eyes were deceiving me.
Thank you. Your video cleared up about 30 minutes of googling to see what it ACTUALLY supported. I just ordered the WD SSD you listed in the description along with 16gb of DDR3L ram! Looking forward to it!

Hey brother, I am so glad I found your channel! I think we’re about the same age, so that is a great thing. I have this laptop, and it was working fine. I had just bought it, maybe three months in, (several years back, now) and it will not find my boot drive. I tried to reinstall, but then I get hard drive locked. Nowhere can I find the hdd. I would love to recover, but a clean install is fine. I put in a new ssd, and nothing. I’m about to try the NMVE board you described, and I will download the Win10 for stick you have. Anything you can tell me about this problem? Warm regards, Cam.

Obviously, it supports both SATA and NVMe SSD. Otherwise, it would not recognize the new NVMe SSD drive. However, I could not find any document from Acer telling which NVMe, Gen (2, 3, or 4) and # of channel, it supports.

Well honestly, I have never cloned an optane drive, yet. Here is a link from Intel. Maybe this will help you. Seems pretty straight forward.......www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000058660/memory-and-storage/intel-optane-memory.html. dale

@@CadillacComputerCenter Thanks for that link! What do you think this means in terms of partitions to clone? "Data should be copied from the drive being accelerated to the new drive being accelerated and not the Intel® Optane™ Memory"

I re-found my Sons E5-573G from like 2013. The Battery was dead ( hindsight it wasnt ) and got a new one , then cloned the HD to SSD and added 8gb memory . If anyone finds one do it up . Its still runs really well. I havnt found out how to turn on any backlight yet. Power cord goes into rear and it has 500 screws to get back off , but small molehills. And he forgot the lock screen password too so hard to do a hard recovery which if you dig around the old system is saved and was able to pull out a heap of his files anyway
