I've tried the hot glue method and can't seem to get the right shapes, the dowel method seemed the next best thing, and honestly they're much easier to make than you'd think
IG, For the gap issue between the halves of the stone you could experiment with some modeling paste. It’s astonishingly versatile and, in this instance, would complement the stone’s existing texture. Modeling paste will exponentially broaden your already-fertile array of unique builds. Bravo! Ottimo lavoro!
Wow! I like this build with the greenery and the lighting effect inside to make it look magical. I wondered in a different build how you came up with the mushrooms, and now I know. I looked on Etsy and saw some different kinds that work too. Great job.
I tried the hot glue method to be honest and the glue didn't settle into nice dome shapes 🤔 so I decided to make my own out of wood 🙂. Those screw caps could be an interesting idea though, I'll give them a look 👍🏻 thanks

cool I just did a bunch of stones but did not have any green tea lights - they look very cool. My fat finger often have the same dexterity issues - not picking up a brush is one...love the root = vines trick -will try that myself. i just did a tree and had a similar issue with adding foliage. I used PVA glue - glued the branch first then dipped glued brush into flocking and then'wiped' it off on the glued branch -that worked the best. I used a set of tweezers too but the brush method worked the best. A friend said he applies glue and then immerses the tree in the flocking and leaves it over night. I have not tried that yet - no patience... :) thanks for the video really enjoyed it
@@irongryphon and Krabby, these mushrooms do look good. Another way to make them, perhaps a bit easier, is shown on Bard's Craft's channel where he simply uses dollops of dried hot glue on parchment paper and then stabs them with toothpicks. Just a suggestion. Love the channel, Iron Gryphon! My daughter and I really enjoy everything you make on here. Thanks for the tips and inspiration. Cheers, --Bo
I tried the hot glue method but the glue blobs seemed to settle in weird shapes and I wasn't happy with them. It's probably just the kind of glue gun/glue I used. Either way, the way I made them was alot easier than you'd think, assuming you have a rotary tool 😀👍🏻
I love lighting in TT terrain, but (as mentioned in another comment) it does look best in dimly lit game sessions....which I don't get to engage in as I'm now a thousand year old Grognard that needs glasses & decent lighting to GM by. Sigh...Wonder how to get them to light up REALLY brightly without bursting into flames?
I wanted to add the lighting because the lore for this piece was that this elven waystone named "the Verdant Shard" would be a naturally magical anomaly, specifically life/nature/healing magic and I couldn't do that without putting a tealight in there 😅
It was actually really easy, and you can get some really cool shapes for your mushrooms. I did try to make mushrooms with hot glue on parchment paper, but for some reason the glue just wasn't settling correctly
Dremels are good, but expensive. I had a 3000 model but the motor burned out on it. Bought one from Wilkinson's for £30. The collet takes Dremel bits but it comes with some decent accessories. Also, buy a cheap foam cutter from Amazon. Awesome bit of kit!
Dude, I've not long discovered your channel... I do little bits of scenery as well. (I'm just doing some ruins for FrostGrave) Loving the content, but... Can you tilt your camera back a bit? It's like watching you upside down because your camera is tilted back under itself on it's stand :)
Haha it's just because I don't have a fancy camera rig. When I get one installed it'll hopefully fix the issue. I'm going to use a side on view in a lot of newer videos, hope that's abit better for you 👍🏻😅
Putting in that battery powered tea light was a great idea! Going to adapt that for some of my terrain.
Thanks 👍🏻😀 much easier than sorting out electronics. now I need to find a use for the other 23 green tea lights I have 😅
Wow dowl mushrooms, I usually make them from hot glue, I’ll have to remember that trick for the future. 👍🏻

Yeah I do need to get some modelling paste, I'm sure it'll come in handy for lots of projects 👍🏻🙂 thanks for watching
that is a great piece of terrain would love to see the winter waystone video
Thank you for watching 😬I may post a quick video about that winter waystone, or couple it up with another piece of winter terrain in the future 🙂👍🏻
Great tutorial! I think I might borrow and modify this using blue tealight and make some dwarf runic stones!
Excellent idea 😀 I think covering it in snow could be a nice addition too. I do love wintery terrain though
The lighting for it probably would be brighter if you'd lined the interior with foil before putting the sides together there.
Possibly, but honestly it's fairly bright as is. The piece of parchment paper on the inside is a good light diffuser so it makes a nice green glow 👍🏻😀

Ah yes I made those ones 👍🏻😅 cos I didn't have any more of the old plastics ones left 😅
for mushrooms I use the lid of those tiny posi-drive screw covers. or I make em from hot glue

Soooo good! My favourite so far 👏🏼
Thank you 😊 gotta love abit of magical fantasy stuff
looks nice

I got my tealights on eBay I think 🙂 glad I could inspire you abit, thanks for watching 👍🏻😀
Very satisfying build! I wouldn't mind seeing a shot of it in a darker room, though, I bet the light looks really mystical shining through.
I did try actually 😅 but it's so difficult to get a decent photo in very dim light. It does look pretty cool glowing through the glyphs though
the wash will make the seem show up more because it sinks into it.

fly agaric, not death cap (mushroom/toadstool)
It's a shame I didn't really have any better way to hollow out the waystone to a degree where you could still see the light inside 😕
Looks amazing! Especially the mushrooms, ive been trying to make my own recently but never quite as good as you make them :)
Give my mushroom method a go, it's super easy. If you don't have a rotary tool, I think sand paper would do just fine, but might take abit longer

That has to be the most labor intensive way to make miniature mushrooms. Hot glue dabs on parchment paper is one of the better ways.
