Hey good people! With this project I tackled some ruins that can be used Warhammer Fantasy, Mordheim, Frostgrave or D&D! I want to thank Ramon Belmonte over at Highland Miniatures for sponsoring this project and providing me with some awesome miniatures! I really like the end result of both the terrain and the miniatures! Please tell me what YOU thought of the video in the comments down below! Stay safe and lots of love to you all! 👍💙💛💙
Individual bricks are a labour of love for sure. There's faster ways, but nothing beats the look imo. Looks fantastic mate! I'll also chime in and say I love those 60s segments too.
Thanks Seb! Yeah individual bricks is really the best so far with foam. I know there exist more dense foam which you can sculpt better but with what I have , individual bricks is king! Good to know about the 60 second segments! 👍😀
Freaking awesome Leif, the process of raw XPS foam to paint brick looks amazing. I absolutely love the tones you went with here and your thought on where the brick would weather the most over time. And coupled with Highlands Miniatures stuff, amazing! keep up the good work brother.
@@DevsDice You are welcome my friend ! Collin says you may come on the Crazy Crafter live stream at some point..? Very much looking forward to hanging out with you dude!
Nice work Leif! Making ruins is so satisfying. Apart from anything else, you can hide crimes easily; that bit's ruined, it's meant to look like that. I like Highland Miniatures as well. They have a nice balance of detail, with enough there to provide visual interest, but not so much that the figure looks too busy and becomes a hassle to paint.
I really agree on both accounts. Doing "ruined" things is a lot easier in one way for sure and Highland Miniatures does do some awesomely balanced sculpts! 👍😊
I really enjoyed this one. Your stair design, in particular, inspired a change to the 3D-printable game tiles that I've been working on for a few years.
Thank you so much Jennell! Yeah the stairs was a stroke of simple brilliance which, like I said, I am sure I am not the first one to come up with! Happy regardless that the design helped you! 👍😊
Thank you Neo! Well the thing is that I always aim to use the terrain pieces I make so for me it makes sense to make them as good as I can! Glad it's appreciated! 👍🤣
Daaaaang those rust effects look fricken good. Don't fret about the number of videos you made this year, Leif, Ill watch whatever you put out whenever you get to it. Cheers!
Thank you so much! Yeah I really do think that the paint job elevated these somewhat simple ruins! Thanks for that man, I am sort of thinking of how to improve my videos to reach more RUclips "success". We shall see where it ends at! 👍🙂
@@DevsDice I make them in bulk too, I like throwing in some rocks and screws in a bucket with the bricks and over shapes and shake the shit out of it for five minutes and get great results
Looks so good!! Really reminded me of some of the ruins in Dragon Age: Inquisition too! I love the sheer extent of the detail and thought you put into the placement of every tile and brick, and the beams look great! When medieval castles and the like were built, they would have wooden supports (like scaffolding), which you can see evidenced in surviving buildings where they built around them and then the wood has since rotted away, so you’ve got historically accurate details there too :). It’s such a beautiful end result, and really inspiring to watch. Thanks again, Leif, you’ve nailed it yet again!!!
I just LOVE the intros EVERYTIME! Comical! I injoy how you don BS around with stuff, YEP you have to BEEP out the Language But *BEEP* I love it... And I ALSO Love ALL Your Builds VERY VERY INSPIRING FOR ME! and MAN I NEED all the help I can GET! Love ya MAN!!! BE SAFE!
Great capstone to a year of awesome videos! You may not have made as many as you would have liked but the ones you did were amazing. Looking forward to seeing what you make in 2022!
Really impressive build! Talk about bricks and more bricks. The color tones you used in this build look really amazing. I like how you started with the burnt umber and the means you accented the areas to look like moss were a fabulous idea and look great. I just might need ti attempt to build something like this. Great video!
This is awesome Leif! Great to see a new video from you! I'm definitely going to use your playable stairs! I wish I had a Proxxon hot wire table to do bricks and such! Oh gosh, in one of the last shots you can see a red-themed knight jousting a silver-themed knight and I swear: the headdress of the "red" horse is the headdress for the horses in the old Castle LEGO sets!
Simply stunning terrain! I love the build process and the thought and reasoning behind all of it. Have you ever tried your hand at taking this technique and using it to build a grimdark futuristic gothic cathedral for games like Warhammer 40k or Kill Team?
Thank you kindly B1ack Sword! I am looking into Warhammer 40k/Kill Team since a bunch of people at work are playing it! I need to look into the specifics of the rules when it comes to terrain! 👍😊
@@DevsDice terrain rules are actually quite simple . There are some very helpful and useful guides online that can give you the specifics of how terrain works for them.
It might have been a good idea to add some brickwork to the bases for the ruins, it looks kind of odd that it's got a rough ground with the stone buildings rather than portions of stonework there as well
