Wonderfully put. I used to play this on an old wind-up gramophone I found in the loft of the stable on a local farm (in Scotland) that had a broken spring. That was when i was around 10 years or so. My finger turned it around to what I thought was the appropriate speed. It took great skill to get it midpoint between sounding something like the chipmunks or Tennese Ernie Ford. I treasured the memory of that period in the late 50's as the lads of my time have gone on to the ol' ethereal waterfall. When I eventually heard it years later in its proper fashion, I realised I'd made reasonable job of cranking it around at the proper tempo.
Slim was definitely one of my yodeling favorites when I was a young'un back in '60s. Guess I'll have to pull out one of his LPs from the shelf and take a trip down memory lane.
me and my late wife rose loved this song, and many others of the late great slim whitman.god bless slim for all the great songs that made us both happy.
Just wanted to add a friendly correction: "Come to me where you are" as opposed to "bound to be..." Great song! This music reminds me so much of my grandmother who I lost a year ago, God rest her soul.
Excellent intelligence. I knock these old songs out on the guitar after the 3rd dram when the family are visiting. The grandsons are quite amused, and I actually heard the younger lad singing out full belt (waterfall) the other morning. Almost word perfect. It cheered me up no end.
Slim has an exeptional and unique falsetto voice. I really love this kind of music too.
Whenever I need an overdose of innocence, I turn to Slim Whitman.🌹

Written by Bob Nolan, one of the original members of the sons of the pioneers. He also composed tumbling tumble weeds and cool water!

Doesn' t sound like its the Original One, backing track is too modern..more like 70 's sound...than 50 's..!!!..
yeh, they spoil so many old records by doing this....adding modern backing tracks....they never sound right..
I think that's actually the original from 1952. The other version is on Slim's official YT channel.
