Absolutely agree with the take a break advice. Last 2 weeks this season was me getting on, doing the GM or raid, and then playing a different game. It's what we all did back when D1 was in a content lull (January-September), and it is definitely healthy for the game and the players.
Totally agree. This was the first season that I actually took a real break in a long time. I'm excited for tomorrow, partially because I did take that break. But I didn't even finish all my red borders. Normally, I'd have totally completed everything by now... but the grind was intense, and the Discourse over trials was... a lot. Still a great season, looking forward to getting back into things, but yeah.
I totally agree about taking a break. I played the first day or two of this season and then left, and only came back last week. Managed to complete all the seasonal storyline stuff, and played a bit with Solar 3.0. Having the break has reenergized me and I feel excited for tomorrow and Arc 3.0, plus a returning raid. Would love to get some more strikes though, as well as strike scoring back, to really help out the strike playlist.
I haven't really played a lot of d2 since witchqueen launched as most of the people i played with stopped playing but I came back about halfway through the season and really enjoyed it and am really excited for the reveal.
datto is getting so poetic about the fact that veterans are learning that we need to take breaks. and how it was just a season, nothing different- just samey
I loved the season. It’s the second season I’ve fully done the season pass and gotten the title for (the only other being Arrivals). Solar 3.0 was loads of fun with hammer spam Titan.
13:45 What is this "meta title" called and which titles do you need? EVERY title in the game (Dredgen, Conqueror, etc.)? All event ones (Solstice, Lost, etc.)?
I lost track with what i had to do. Took a whole lot of time off after the first rift fiasco in Iron Banner (didnt mind it really) and tried to finish some things in the last week. I failed to do anything as i was really looking forward to trying out Arc 3.0 so i played other games really.
That’s how I felt this season. Played in the beginning doing the new dungeon and then took a summer break. I Golfed on weekends didn’t play after work and grinding to level and completing the GMs for my guilded this last week was actually fun
I played pretty casually last season until solstice came. Got the gilded triumph in the third day. Got a bunch of GMs and raids done. It was great to take a break
Me an my friends have a running joke that crow is essentially the main character of destiny to fill the void that is our mostly silent gaurdian. He is a new light, has amnesia because of it, gets his memories back and finds out he was a villian in his past life, has the classic family relationship to an important character, and has shown signs of mastering friendship no justsu with zavala and Saladin.
Hadn't played destiny since last wish and I was overwhelmed at first but once back in the swinging things I was shocked at how much I enjoyed coming back to the game. Revamped sub classes were overdue, but thoroughly enjoyed grinding to max level and theory crafting builds for each character while chasing gear. Gotta give it to bungie for this return for me, I'm now actually excited from the next arc 3.0 update this week. 😄
Will say, the Nezarac's Whisper was surprisingly welcome for me, and has become a staple in my kit as my go-to GM glaive. Having enhanced Lead from Gold + Adaptive Munitions has really opened me up to feeling comfortable playing with double special weapons, especially this season with Forerunner. Incredibly fun to act as a tanking/aggro role in GMs so my friends can do their thing much more safely.
i took a break for about two months during this season, a bit sad im missing out on all the season ranks/the armor ornament sets but im actually excited season 18 to come out
This was the first season in a very long time that I didn’t do much past the main story. It’s been weeks since I’ve logged in for more than a few minutes. Hopefully next season brings a more enjoyable loop.
I didnt even bother with Solstice this year, its good if you want some high stat armor - but after dealing with EAZ every damn year, no, I won't do it anymore lol glad to hear they got rid of the chest hunting at the end. What you said at the end is correct, I took a break during solstice and I really appreciated the game more after a couple weeks not loggin in
I took a month and a half off and I'm amazed at how much of the season I managed to get through. You're right, 6 weapons that are craft able are more than enough since all but one or two will be valuable that season.
What you said about leaving for a while I did just after the realise of witch queen than came back about a month ago and fell in love with the game again
In terms of Destiny 2 really laying into the games as a service mentality I think they did an amazing job this season. I personally like how this season felt like a good book, and its broken up into a bunch of memorable moments throughout the season (seasonal story, dungeon farming, iron banner grinding, solstice armor searching, craftable weapon farming etc). On top of all the QOL additions I truly believe this is the best Destiny has ever been and its only getting better.
Disjunction is my least favourite map for the same reason as Widows court, fuck open maps where DMT and Scouts just dome in nonconfrontational gameplay. And unlike Eternity where its player choice to go for the open space its just the map.
@@adamchu2001 skill issue to be honest. you are supposed to change your weapons based on the map. you are supposed to use scouts and pulses and snipers on long lane maps. switch your shit or get outplayed, your choice
I was very invested in this season's story. I went through a break up during the beginning of this season and, as sad as it is to say, was met with a lot of nightmares and difficult nights. Luckily, I had my clan and cousin to help me through the season's story. It's funny to think that the traumas experienced by each character helped me have a better understanding of my own emotions, but I am very glad I did
That is an interesting take. I also did the moon and d1 and pretty much quit for the season of Shadowkeep but I never did the Leviathan raid and found exploring it for the first time this season quite interesting actually.
I ended up crafting most of the weapons (the only one other than the dungeon weapons that I didn’t get was Without Remorse) and they have to do something about the time it takes to level a crafted weapon. I was using them as much as possible in all activities and finally got them all to level 16, which gives you access to all enhanced perks and it probably took me about 4-5 hours of endless Nightmare Containment to get there. I did it, but it sucked
I agree with taking time off. Coming back after a month from not playing feels so good, a lot to do, still enough time to get the season pass rewards, it’s just a great time versus playing every day.
I have to say i'm fairly hopeful for next season, for the sole reason that each year seems to have a banger (Opulence, Dawn, Chosen) and we have yet to see this year's fan favorite
For me personally ive been enjoying the game more when i play a ton during the story weeks, then take a break until the last couple weeks of the season
massively agree, my favourite d1 exotic. It lets people that can play a lot during the ‘main’ weeks enjoy all the new things, and have a nice break at the end, just at the point where burnout might start to kick in. Also allows those who have to/want to take things a bit slower to do so and have plenty of time to do things
I imagine the only reason we had so many seasonal weapons is because they had to reprise a number. I imagine future seasons which don’t strongly follow a previous one will have fewer, while those that do will have more because of reprised and new weapons.
I think the resilience buff coming at the same time as classy restoration bumped the mod up in significance; I've heard a lot of "go all in on resilience, recovery doesn't matter as much" this season because of how much access to cure & restoration we got, which substitutes recovery well enough. With healing no longer being tied to all class abilities & the flavour of the season shifting away from solar and it's healing grenades, I suspect there's going to be some people struggling with their stat distribution early next season. Recovery is going to become important for all classes again, while Resilience won't be declining without a nerf, and Hunters in particular care about Mobility on top of that.
I learned that a long time ago datto. Destiny has always been a game that you take a break from until the new content comes out. I reached the highest rank I've ever reached in a season (218). But I got the season title and the dungeon title and I felt that was enough. I saw little point in continue playing. I set goals and I achieved them. Once the story was done, I checked out the last 4 weeks. I'm refreshed and looking forward to the new season tomorrow.
I just came back to d2 after a year and a half away. Although there’s many new “things” in the game, it quickly felt very similar to a year and a half ago. Couldn’t agree more with the strike playlist, it needs some love
Grinded the shit outta last season and was looking forward to this one, but I ended up taking a few months break when it dropped instead and can say it felt a lot better coming back later on
We have had the same seasonal formula since chosen (I'm not counting hunt) and it has consistently delivered quality. The only issue is staleness and boredom, but I think you pointed out that this is more of a reflection on the state of the core playlists. When the story mission is done each week what I am supposed to do? The core playlists can't carry the games weight in the moments of downtime, so people over extend the seasonal content and then complain. Taking more breaks and more attention from the devs on core playlists will help like you said.
I may have started D2 back in season 12 (D1 is a different story), but it has felt oh so good to take this last week off from the game. I may have popped in to ready my anti-champion weapons, but I've been out of it for the most part. Feels good.
the only reason i was playing week to week, was the story missions because i was so captivated by them. once they stopped releasing, i stopped playing until the second to last week and it was only to hit rank 100
I pretty much quit playing somewhere in week 6 and came back on the VERY LAST DAY to rank up from 51 to 104 to get all my shit from the pass. Not getting on to do those weeklies really burns me when I have to do as many as possible before the pass dies, I just wanted to make sure I got as much Bright Dust and all of the cosmetics possible from it. Sever missions were great, in terms of story arcs. I just wish I had any fucking clue who the hell Zavala was whining about all season long, Crow and Caiatl's stories felt very much relatable and humanizing to them. A man afraid of a previous life, scarred by indecision and a festering, torrid fear of the pain he once caused, and behaviors he believes are innate. An empress being crushed by inordinate pressure to lead a broken people who have only ever known militant organization and war, to peace and allegiance with once-mortal enemies. I appreciate that the story and its functional properties were leveraged as a means to interrogate the cast in a much deeper and personal context than is usually present. We saw Eris in Shadowkeep, how she is haunted by loss. We get to see Zavala's unshared history, a very distant, rigid and somber person marred by tragedy involving his family (which makes Cayde's death as the Hunter Vanguard, his other, "found" family, very prescient); his decisions to abstain from seeking vengeance for Cayde's death must not have been an easy one, even more difficult to accept Crow into the ranks as a Guardian wearing the skin of his former friend's scheming murderer. We even got a much closer look at Calus' motivations and interrogated his intentions during this season as well. Where Calus intends to make us his allies, his approach does nothing to solve our immediate problems and his solution is pretty much just "Party until the lights go out." The lights being the universe, in this case. Ultimately I am a sucker for character growth and the myriad changes in both this season and last season (don't get me started on Bracus Forge, what a nuts but awesome idea) give me hope that the story isn't just stagnating. Now if we can just have Ada become relevant again...
I for one loved the amount of craftable weapons, sure I've not maxed them out nor have I really got them all crafted but I like having stuff like that to work towards
I did the bare minimum during Risen so I wasn't burning out on the game and really quite enjoyed it. Destiny can't stay mysterious and unknown forever and I think they're doing a pretty good job of unraveling everything including the characters. I also didn't get bored of the containment stuff but I also don't grind just to get everything (like patterns), I think the open arenas with lots of dudes to kill was good.
On dawnblade 3.0, they REALLY need to combine icarus dash with heat rises and give us a healing focused aspect. Touch of flame should also get a secondary effect
I would like to see matchmaking for dungeons as a way to freshen up the game. I totally understand why matchmaking for raids isn't happening, but dungeons are less of an ask when it comes to coordinating
I quite like the craftable weapons, tho this is my first season back since warmind. Assuming the patterns don’t vanish at the end of season I don’t see issue with having a bunch of craftable weapons to collect over time

Solstice made me come back to D2, target farming armor is a dream come true. honestly hats off to bungie on that one
The sponsor knows datto’s audience very well
They’ve sponsored literally every big Destiny RUclipsr lol
@@The_Worst_Warlock I'm surprised he didn't get a Genshin or Tower of Fantasy sponsor for his vids
I played week 1,2 6 and last week of the season. A break was soooo needed
heavy Anthem vibes from that sponsor lol. Hopefully they do it right.
I do believe Tresspasser’s tunnel vision trait reactivates on an unrepentant kill
You are correct sir
That was the first ad I legit watched and was intrigued
I love how epic datto sounds, when explaining/ talking about ads or sponsors.
I actually enjoyed this season, and miracle of miracles, I actually achieved the Title before end of season.
I also kinda liked Nightmare Containment.
datto is getting so poetic about the fact that veterans are learning that we need to take breaks. and how it was just a season, nothing different- just samey
0:23 literally a ghost
Season of the Haunted truly was one of the seasons in Destiny 2
I could see Resilience and Intellect having their mod costs swapped.
@The Legs of Rhulk I didn't say I want it, but it makes sense considering how the value of resilience has ballooned shortly after intelect tanked.
i took a break for about two months during this season, a bit sad im missing out on all the season ranks/the armor ornament sets but im actually excited season 18 to come out
Took this season off and only hopped on last night to see what I potentially could have missed. Solar 3.0 was cool, but I’m glad I took a break.
What you said about leaving for a while I did just after the realise of witch queen than came back about a month ago and fell in love with the game again
man the first descendant just sponsors every destiny tuber
came back seriously for the first time in years and this was a fun season for me to come back to, very excited for the new one
From a PvP perspective, I'd say I was let down. Classy and the healing meta in general combined with the AE changes really hurt Crucible.
I found ways to play around it. DMT puts them down quick
I'm honestly impressed I've watched videos from Datto, Aztecross, and Fallout today that were all sponsored by The First Descendant
I have to say i'm fairly hopeful for next season, for the sole reason that each year seems to have a banger (Opulence, Dawn, Chosen) and we have yet to see this year's fan favorite
I like how the underlying theme for the season was Ghostbusters.
This was my first solstice! I never ever want to participate in another one!
Will duality still have its weekly challenge when the season finishes?
I learned that a long time ago datto. Destiny has always been a game that you take a break from until the new content comes out. I reached the highest rank I've ever reached in a season (218). But I got the season title and the dungeon title and I felt that was enough. I saw little point in continue playing. I set goals and I achieved them. Once the story was done, I checked out the last 4 weeks. I'm refreshed and looking forward to the new season tomorrow.
I got only 4 of the weapons crafted so far. Drop rates of red borders suck and I had to rely on getting them weekly from the crown
difficulty settings for strikes with different tiers of rewards are desperately needed imo
Little confused, do you just mean nightfalls but without champions? Cuz we kinda already have that system in game
I just came back to d2 after a year and a half away. Although there’s many new “things” in the game, it quickly felt very similar to a year and a half ago. Couldn’t agree more with the strike playlist, it needs some love
This was my time away I played the first week and dipped for a long time then came back to finish my season pass
5:34 What SMG is he using?
Grinded the shit outta last season and was looking forward to this one, but I ended up taking a few months break when it dropped instead and can say it felt a lot better coming back later on
On Haunted weapons, Nez's is great since it can roll Adaptive and Genesis
Feels good.
I like that they brought back Calus’ old voice, was more sinister and intimidating
the only reason i was playing week to week, was the story missions because i was so captivated by them. once they stopped releasing, i stopped playing until the second to last week and it was only to hit rank 100
Loved having a whole new area to explore, but playlist activities did drag a little
I definitely like to take weeks off of this game at a time, it makes coming back to it for the next season actually fun
overall, i had pretty good fun with the season. after the main story, there isnt a lot to do besides raids or dungeons and just trying to level up.
Chain is my baby for my Warlock "Chewy Grenade"(devour focused) build
I for one loved the amount of craftable weapons, sure I've not maxed them out nor have I really got them all crafted but I like having stuff like that to work towards
I have my first day in college tomorrow so no spoilers for the showcase and the season intro please
Took a 5 month break, excited for the next season now!
As someone who never did anything on the leviathan except menagerie I loved season of the haunted
"This truly was one of the seasons of all time"
I would like to see matchmaking for dungeons as a way to freshen up the game.
