As an intermediate, okay-ish photographer of many years, I've just found your channel and the advice you give is sound. Good to watch a fellow enthusiastic photographer doing these vids for the love of it and to teach others. We are all novices at some point.

Definitely a ‘Marmite’ shot and I love it. Not so much the last shot although I can see and like what you’re doing with the grasses. Don’t ever loose that enthusiasm and passion (we will know) you put into your images. There are many people out there making videos about photography but few get across the input at a personal level quite the way you do. Thanks Henry. Top job!

Telephoto / yep despite its added weight I carry & use particularly for some panoramic blending shots. I picked up a tip from one of your prev videos = blending multiple bracketed HDR's using a tripod; and it works every time now. Your "arty" shots are really good. Yep, more of the enthusiasm and feel good factor. It's what we need just now. Keep it up.

Nice job Henry wanted to mention long exposures with the telephoto like you had in the grasses also turn out well, when you have cloud movement and foreground movement it brings even more focus on the static subject.

I've got the Nikon 70-200 f2.8 VR which I used for sports photography and it is an awesome lens. I've done some portraits with it as well, to me it is a sort of 'jack of all trades' lens and of all the other lenses I have this usually gets the most use. Loved all the shots tonight, thanks for sharing.

I have actually been out trying some similar stuff myself up here in Scotland recently. Just bought a Sigma 150-600mm. Bloody like carrying a kitchen sink around but interesting to use as I have never shot with anything like it before.

First “arty” image my fav - monochromatic and resembling classic Japanese prints of mts, if you know what I mean. Ever use the old “thumbs and forefingers” method of previewing a comp having smaller field of view? Somewhat “corny” method but it does work.

Yes, look for the picture within the picture! I really enjoyed those images Henry. The Nikkor DX 55-200 VR ll is my main lens and I picked it up used for $150 usd a few years ago. It was released in 2015. I like the extra width at the low end vs a 70-200. Really worth it for any Nikon crop sensor users out there, and it only weights about 10 oz.

Apart from abstract images which I've ever hated also in paintings, I generally use a telephoto lens (apart because of the added reach) also when I want to compress distances and make subjects interacts in a different way from reality and also in panos for the very negligible distortion.

As a fellow Cumbrian and Nikon user, d3200, d7100 & d750 I am genuinely intrigued that you as a proffesional photographer are using the cheaper dx lenses, not even the proffesional ones. You often use your 16-35mm f4 lens which is a FX full frame lens on a crop sensor d7200, so are missing out on most of its wide angle, sensor filling capabilities. You have that pro FX lens already and your peripheral gear seems top notch, so have you never thought of the small price jump it would take to get even a 2nd hand full frame body to make the most of your FX lens and therefore its landscape capabilities? It's never just about the gear I know that, but for the effort u put in on your outings, you must realise your 16-35mm blows them away. I use dx lenses too on the d7100 and they are great, but for 'proffesional' standard stuff you should consider the full frame option, a d750 is a steal, or a d810 to utilise your FX 16-35mm as a wide angle landscape lens. Keep at it marra, all the best from the lakes.
