My favorite line is Figma for two reasons: 1- They've tackled a FukTon of IPs! Lots of stuff! Hell, they even got Valve figmas in the form of Portal 2 and Dota 2! 2- They're modular! So you can for example, put Iron Man's boots on any other character, just mix and match whatever you want! 3- There's tons of features variety, as in, a lot of figures have gimmicks of sorts that only that figure can pull off, Alice Gear Aegis has removable gear, Atlas can move his eye around, E.M.M.I. can retract and expand, and Mordred's armor morphs. Plus, if you've seen the schedule for what Figma's cookin', stuff like Ganondorf... Yeah, that's the hypest shit.
As someone who does a lot with Lego, buying Gunpla has felt so cheap to me over the past few months. Lego is so overpriced compared to other toys, it’s insane. The quality of a Gunpla kit is comparable or even superior to Lego in many cases and they take way longer to build. More hours of enjoyment per dollar during the build.
I kinda agree that Japanese companies often put out the superior product however they’ve been getting way too crazy with the prices.Examples figma charging 150 for the predator and doomsayer, figurarts charging comparable prices for some of their dragon ball figures, and the worst of all from takara charging 500 💵 for their latest mp Optimus prime.I’m really shocked they’re hasn’t been way more backlash especially with how the economy is nowadays.
Figuarts has a line of cheaper versions of their figures with a few less accessories called best selection. That includes the exact sanji he showed. Same tooling, same plastic, just less stuff comes with it, and theyre like 30 bucks. Also, bootlegs are absolutely viable now, especially those from CT toys, their figures are insanely good for the prices they go for. Just some info for you guys that are collecting on a budget :)
I collect the hell out of jakks pacific Sonic. This line has an incredible cast line up in the 4" scale. Just unbelievable characters such as mephiles and NEO metal sonic. The articulation and scaling can be par-to-subpar but still incredibly fun to collect.
The thing about domestic or cheaper Bandai are that for the price of 1 import, you can get like 2-5 domestic figures. You can complete the straw hats for like 1/5 of the price. Even for something like mezco, you can get several figures for the price of 1. Domestic figures are also (usually) sturdier. I had an s.h.f. fall of my shelf and literally shatter. Torso flew off and it was wild. But I can pick a marvel legends off the shelf and literally fastball that shit across the apartment and the chances of it being in 1 piece are in its favor. God help a mafex if I tried to do that. Also the qc on some of these imports are abysmal. If your McFarlane has an issue, it’s so easy to contact someone and if nothing happens, you’re only out $25. This video rocks, man! Great production value and energy. No shame in loving toys and wanting the best you can get. And yeah I agree there should absolutely be better Sonic figures out there.
Medicos Jojo figures are the only way to get some sweet Jojo figures, a little pricey but worth the articulation and style for a manga so famous for its dynamic poses.
I am quite shocked that Sonic never got any interesting figures in recent years. But I do remember getting a Silver the Hedgehog figure from Jazwares at a Toy r Us for Sonic 20th anniversary when I was 10 years old. Sadly, the figure nose broke, and one of the arm joints fell out 😅😅
I completely get your point on the better quality figures. I will every day prefer the Dragon Ball Z line from Figuarts, but those $20 figures have their place to. I fallback to them for characters I don't care much about, or for ones that if they're made by the premium line would be ungodly expensive. Dragon Stars Omega Shenron is a great figure for $20 and scales almost perfectly with SS4 Goku and Vegeta. It's gotta be case by case, that Sanji is definitely not good. But, the Chopper their released for Anime Heroes was a stellar figure albeit greatly lacking in articulation. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk, great video!
@@MokerJaniac That's not to say that justifies a terrible Sanji! McFarlane Toys has one good thing going for them, they genuinely try with major characters (Aside from DC, don't look at that). A line even at the budget level like Anime Heroes still should've made a great Sanji

This vid just put me on to buzzmod and their kamina and tengen uzui look incredible. My dream figure line would be a Hajime no ippo line. No joke, each figure could be $100 dollars and they could make every character to ever appear in the manga, I would start working as many jobs as it took to afford them. I recently bought shf power from chainsaw man and she is one of my favorite figures already. Unfortunately my dog did eat her cat so that’s a bummer but pretty outstanding possibility and accessories. I’m really disappointed that there aren’t more good berserk figures out there. From what I’ve seen ever shf is mediocre to straight dookie and figma are just passable. I would love a highly posable skull knight but that just doesn’t exist.
I have the Buzzmod Kamina figure and yeah, it's really good. The cape could have been more flexible to allow for that but the figure on its own is super dynamic and you can pose it to your heart's content!

If you are collecting SHF, you must get at least ONE kamen rider figure. It's their most popular line right next to the Dragon Ball ones. Also, Transformers and Jada Toys street fighter are domestic figures worth collecting.
I really hate the stylization of amazing yamaguchi for superheroes and other really do too. Medicom Mafex are where it's at for superhero import figures. But honestly, Marvel Legends has been stepping it up recently. And to be honest, they kinda invented the modern posable action figure, you gotta put some respect on ToyBiz haha.
Bro mentioned Gundam but not Transformers, you’re missing out on some of the best robot figures to date. Also don’t buy lines like Revoltech from BBTS, they’re domestic so they often raise their import figure prices significantly.
Sanji is technically $65, if you get them directly from Japan maybe you might get them at 55 or cheaper because import fees. But if you go and grab the Walmart version or the stripped back selection editions of any sh figuarts this includes the Zorro Sanji and Luffy these will cost you only $35! (Give or take if your Walmart is having a sale it might be cheaper) Granted you lose out on the extra Luffy faces as well as some of the extra accessories for Sanji you don't get both legs I believe you only get one of his flaming legs, also the extra Luffy faces. But as an option for somebody like Zorro I think it's the cheaper and better bet you can save the other 35 and get a soft goods alternative for the horrible lower torso and it pretty much squares things. Keep in mind the occasionally do selection versions of majority of figures although I don't believe they're calling them selection by name anymore but if you do plan on the selection versions remember they always have lesser accessories. The new Naruto figures I believe with the exception of the 99s are also selection you can probably get them at Walmart for only 30 bucks or so if you can find them. Again sh figuarts is pretty generous with their prices on anything but exclusives or aftermarket where aftermarket can kind of be insane. A lot of times if it figures 70 80 bucks I almost guarantee you that if it's retail and not an exclusive it's usually a aftermarket reseller. Yes sometimes their figures run 70 80 or 90 but this is usually mostly dragon Ball stuff premium or exclusives like sdcc currently the new sdcc trunks and jiren is 70 bucks retail at the con as well as the Goku is a hundred. Just shop around I'll believe you'll find things Fair most of the time good luck trying to find a sh figuart sakuna though he's original retail price was only $65 and I guarantee they're going to be released them again but currently he is being secondhand resold at a price of $200! But I guarantee you can find a handful of these cheap especially retail figures like for example in Japan the new pain figure for Naruto is going to be an exclusive but for us in the US it will be a standard release
used to buy marvel legends back in 2011 but ive since moved on to hottoys and sideshow collectables. Such a nicer collection that funkos and toysrus toys lol
A good sonic figure option is the nendroids they reissued sonic recently and put out a knuckles and tails there in more classic prepositions but there good
I'm not a big funko fan, but i do own some. Mainly gifts from my family or ones of characters I found really cheap. They are nice and small(ish) but im pretty picky on what I get. I mainly get ones that I feel look cool or feel higher quality for what a funko is. like the Elric brothers, got them both for a steal, and Alphonse just looks like a chibi version of himself. I think the only one ill regret getting is the most recent Kaido dragon form funko from gamestop. but i mean hey, its big :).
Legends are as you said hit or miss. I have a few X-Men and a Hulk that’s it. Storm Collectibles KOF line is what I’m collecting along with Hasbro’s SS86 and Transformers Legacy lines.

Bro mentioned Gundam but not Transformers, you’re missing out on some of the best robot figures to date. Also don’t buy lines like Revoltech from BBTS, they’re domestic so they often raise their import figure prices significantly.
I tend to collect up on figuarts and nendoroids though occasionally i do also get some figmas and storm collectibles
Bro I just seen that Sanji in Walmart for $40, picked up
A Kofka Kiaju #8 for $50 too. Gotta look everywhere everytime!
Wait till he sees that newly revealed pre timeskip zoro shf that was revealed
But I guarantee you can find a handful of these cheap especially retail figures like for example in Japan the new pain figure for Naruto is going to be an exclusive but for us in the US it will be a standard release
wait on that zoro, shf just dropped pictures of their own and it looks amazing!
Your very underrated I love ur video style
used to buy marvel legends back in 2011 but ive since moved on to hottoys and sideshow collectables.
