Two great new additions to my Folio Society collection arrived today -- The Rise and Reign of the Mammals by Steve Brusatte and Children of Dune by Frank Herbert.

Great new editions. I have yet to read Dune. Seeing your Folio editions makes me want to give it a try.

The original is definitely a "bookshelf essential," as the kids say. The remainder of the series is more of an acquired taste. But that first one, yes, definitely!

I think the next three grow progressively fatter again. Messiah and Children are definitely skinny little things -- the Science Fiction Book Club published them together in a single volume for a while.

Dune (the first book) is one of the true cornerstones of modern science fiction. It's long, but it holds up. You should definitely check it out sometime. Cheers!
